Introduction:
Guwange is another solid shoot em up from Cave and a remake of one of their classics mind you (1999). This game is fairly difficult for points and most players may score between 40 and 130. Only the dedicated and the skilled will complete it. This game will require patience and perseverance, and will be hard but this is completable. You are only guaranteed 3 achievements by playing through with each character, but 1 more is so easy its almost impossible to miss. Using the Arrange 360 mode, makes this games list alot easier. NO ACHIEVEMENTS WILL UNLOCK IN TRAINING MODE, JUST USE IT FOR PRACTICE.

Step 1 - Playthrough with each character and the destroy statue:
Going from right to left you need to play with Shishin, Kosame, and Gensuke. Nothing gives a particular character an advantage so it doesn't really matter which one you go with first.

During this step you will earn:

  • Shishin's Technique
  • Kosame's Technique
  • Gensuke's Technique
  • The Great Statue
  • Pocket Change
  • With love from Guwange-sama

Step 2 - Practice and get good:
The remaining achievements take a moderate to advanced level of skill. So its time to practice, practice and practice some more. You can make saves right before Guwange-sama and Amagisu so you can PRACTICE as doing this will null out the achievements. These will be frustrating but it will be worth it when you can say you completed Guwange.

During this step you will get:

  • Money Grubber
  • Cash Fiend
  • Grind for Gold
  • To New Heights...
  • The Subjugation of Guwange-sama
  • True Diabolical Power

Conclusion:
This is a Cave Shump so you can expect nothing less then a tough achievement list and a fun game and that is what we got. Overall this game is fairly fun and easy 60 points for the average gamer or maybe a bit more but the 200 will only be possessed by fairly talented players. Good luck!

There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Clear the game using Shishin.

There are 6 stages in the game, just playthrough the game 1 time with Shishin (Far left). Playing in Arrange 360 mode will make this easier as the game will shoot bullets for you, so all you have to worry about is dodging and swinging your shikigami to block/stop bullets from hitting you.

Gensuke's and Shishin's shikigami have a more circular damage radius while Kosame's spirit deals damage to a more linear area, thus making her slightly weaker. Go with the character whose hit box you can measure the best.

  • Clear the game using Kosame.

There are 6 stages in the game, just playthrough the game 1 time with Kosame (Middle). Playing in Arrange 360 mode will make this easier as the game will shoot bullets for you, so all you have to worry about is dodging and swinging your shikigami to block/stop bullets from hitting you.

See "Shishin's Technique" for information about character selection.

  • Clear the game using Gensuke.

There are 6 stages in the game, just playthrough the game 1 time with Gensuke (Far right). Playing in Arrange 360 mode will make this easier as the game will shoot bullets for you, so all you have to worry about is dodging and swinging your shikigami to block/stop bullets from hitting you.

See "Shishin's Technique" for information about character selection.

  • Destroy the Great Statue in Stage 3!

This can be done in any mode. Carefully aim your shikigami at the correct statue to destroy it. If done correctly, it will unlock right away. There is an image of where the statue is below.

  • Connected a 10,000 coin combo!

A coin combo ends when you get hit. You will need to make it a good chunk of the way through stage 3 without getting hit very much in order to get the achievement. Playing in Arrange 360 mode makes this easier as the games shoots for you. Also, I recommend rubber banding the right trigger, so that you don't have to hold it down yourself to keep your shikigami out. So all you have to worry about is dodging and moving your shikigami around.

This unlocked for me right after the Great statue in stage 3 and I had been hit 3 or 4 times. As long as the meter in the top left doesn't run out then your coin combo will continue. Using bombs and getting hit will diminish your meter and getting hit does take away some of your coin combo.

When picking your character there isn't very much difference between the 3 but there are a few things and knowing them might help.

Gensuke's and Shishin's spirit have a more circular damage radius while Kosame's spirit deals damage to a more linear area, thus making her slightly weaker. I would say go with the character, whose hit box you can measure best.

  • Connect a 30,000 coin combo!

A coin combo ends when you get hit. You will need to make it through a portion of stage 6 without getting hit very often in order to unlock the achievement. Playing in arrange 360 mode makes this easier as the games shoots for you, so all you have to worry about is dodging and moving your shikigami around.

See "Money Grubber" for full details.

  • Score 25,000,000 points!

Playing in Arrange 360 mode makes this alot easier; as will putting a rubber band on the right trigger to keep your shikigami out so all you have to worry about is doding and swinging the shikigami around.

See "To New Heights" for more information.

  • Collect 1000 coins during a boss battle.

I found this really easy on stage 5's boss. Coins come out when you kill and break things. As you dwindle the bosses forces down, grab 1,000 of them. You can even die during the fight and get the achievement.

Secret achievements

  • Suffer a noble defeat by Guwange-sama

Guwange-sama is the second to final boss of the game so getting to him takes a little while. You won't receive this unless you get killed by Guwange-sama's 2nd form which looks like a giant baby. None of his other forms will produce the achievement.

  • Destroyed Amagisu's final form without taking damage.

This is in stage 6. You must defeat the final bosses final form without being hit. He can deflect bombs and takes little damage from standard attacks so this will be tough.

    Here is some modified advice from helgor;
Make a save right before this boss and practice this spot over and over. Learn the patterns and safe spots. As a precaution to make sure you have it down; don't make an attempt for the achievement until you can beat Amagisu' final form 3 times in row without getting hit. Not only will this save you time re-playing the entire game but also allows you to focus purely on learning his patterns.

    • You cannot use bombs at all during the fight.
    • Continues do not matter; leading up to the boss fight.
    • Using bombs before the boss fight does not matter.
    • You must destroy the bosses entire form without getting hit. This means the achievement starts after you kill Guwange-Sama (giant baby head monster), you must not get hit from that point on.
  • Scored 50,000,000 points.

Dying and continuing resets your score. Playing in Arrange 360 mode makes this easier as the games shoots for you, also rubber banding the right trigger will allow you to keep your shikigami out without holding down the trigger yourself. So all you have to worry about is dodging and moving your shikigami around you should get this somewhere in stage 5 or 6, depending on your coin combo and how many times you have been hit.

When you get hit; even slightly will drop your coin-combo which means your score will not increase as fast. Best way to ensure you get this achievement it is to do a nearly flawless run. This involves practice and patience but no were near as much as "The Subjugation of Guwange-Sama" and "True Diabolical Power". Just keep practicing and memorizing the different bosses patterns.

  • Defeated Guwange-sama without taking damage.

This is in stage 6. You must beat the final bosses 2nd form which looks like a giant baby without being hit.

    • You can use bombs; but you can't finish off Guwange-sama with a bomb or it will not unlock the achievement.
    • Use your shikigami ALOT
