Introduction
Welcome to Green Day: Rock Band, the rock band game dedicated entirely to Green Day. This game includes every song from the albums Dookie and American Idiot, as well as several songs from 21st Century Breakdown and some of their other hits. All achievements can be earned offline. There are currently no glitched or unobtainable achievements, and the only achievement that is missable is “Won’t Make It for Dinner.” If you miss this achievement, you will have to start a new career to obtain it. Some achievements are affected by difficulty, but the achievement descriptions make it very clear when this is the case. Cheats do disable achievements, however, No Fail Mode is not considered a cheat in this game and can be accessed from the difficulties screen.

Step 1: Bass Career
The quickest way to earn 1000 is to play through the bass career, making sure you earn 5 stars on every song. This will also help you gain familiarity with the songs. Throughout the career, make sure you play Peacemaker on expert bass earning at least 3 stars, 100% Welcome to Paradise on medium or higher bass, and play all hammer-ons and pull-offs without strumming on Longview (hard or expert difficulty). You should also play a song with lefty-flip on to earn an achievement. By this point, you should have 200 or more.

Step 2: Other Instrument Careers
You need to earn a career score of 1,000,000 with every instrument, so pick guitar, drums, or vocals and get going. On vocals, first earn 5 stars on "Song of the Century", as that should be the last song needed for 5 stars. Then use overdrive at least 100 times and play the 3 required songs on expert vocals. If you have enough microphones, get the double harmony and triple harmony achievements. On guitar, earn a 95 note streak on Last Night On Earth. Also, if you can manage it, hit 100% of the notes in the solos in "Whatsername", "Hitchin’ a Ride", and "Jesus of Suburbia" on the required difficulties.

On drums, hit 100% of the notes on one of the required songs. Complete all of the drum lessons and hit at least 40 notes in a drum fill. If you can manage the two hardest achievements in the game, then hit every kick note in "Brain Stew/Jade"d and complete all of "Tre’s Greatest Hits". Finally, make sure you play Boulevard of Broken Dreams and F.O.D. with every instrument.

Step 3: Challenges
By completing the career, you should have enough "Cred" to purchase every challenge. Purchase every one and play all of them through, making sure to earn the required stars on each challenge. These should be done on a comfortable difficulty, as you will have to play through every song at least once, some twice. You will earn at least 85 from the challenges alone.

Step 4: Band Play
It’s time to earn those achievements that require multiple people. For "Won’t Make It For Dinner", you can either play with real people, or set all instruments to no-fail and work your way through the career. Earn all necessary unison bonuses and get an 8x band multiplier. While working for these achievements, you will want to try to earn 1,000,000 points in one song. Also, note that gold starring songs is typically easier as a band, so you may want to work on those as well.

Step 5: Cleaning Up
At this point, you will probably still have a few achievements you need to wrap up. If necessary, earn 400,000 points on a song, play through a setlist of 20 songs without failing. If you are still working towards gold starring songs, now is the time to complete that.

Conclusion
Earning the full 1000 in this game will be exceptionally challenging, thanks to "Tre’s Greatest Hits". A lot of practice will be needed for this, as well as some of the other challenging achievements. If you are reading this road map before purchasing/renting this game, note that while it is a pretty easy 800, you most likely won’t get all 1000.

There are 48 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Five-star every song in Green Day: Rock Band with any instrument.

    (7)
Earn a rating of five stars on each of the 44 songs on the game. This can be done on any difficulty with any combination of instrument in Career and/or Quickplay. I would suggest doing this on Bass because you need to earn at least three stars on every song on Bass to obtain “In Good Health and Good Time”. You can check your progress for this and all other achievements in the “Achievements” menu in game.

NOTE: “Song of the Century” can only be played on Vocals. “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” does not have a Drums chart.
  • Earn at least 3 stars on all songs in Green Day: Rock Band with any instrument.

See “You Had the Time of Your Life" for more details.
  • Score 1,000,000 points in a single song.

    (4)
For this achievement, you will need at least one other person, probably two, with everyone on Expert difficulty. Everyone in the band should try to use Overdrive at the same time to get big score multipliers. Both “Jesus of Suburbia” and “Homecoming” are over nine minutes long, so they would probably be good choices for this achievement.
  • Earn at least 3 stars on any song in Expert difficulty.

You simply need to earn a three star rating on any song in the game, with any instrument, on Expert difficulty. If you are having trouble passing songs on Expert difficulty, you can turn on the “No-Fail” option to keep you alive while you try for three stars.
  • Get a Unison Bonus on the listed songs with 2 or more players.

You will need to get a unison bonus on each of the three listed songs: "Burnout”, "Chump”, and "She". A Unison Bonus is achieved when two instruments (Bass, Drums, and Guitar) earn “Energy” at the same time (there will be a message to alert you of a possible Unison Bonus). Vocals are not eligible for Unison Bonuses. This can be done on any difficulty, with any combination of Bass, Drums, and Guitar, in Career or Quickplay.
  • Use Overdrive 100 times as a vocalist.

    (1)
Vocal Overdrive is earned by earning an “Awesome” rating on a phrase that is outlined in yellow. You must hit two of these phrases to obtain enough “Energy” to use Overdrive. You can activate Overdrive by making noise into the Mic during sections that are outlined in a gold border.
  • Earn at least 3 stars on all songs in Green Day: Rock Band as a bassist.

    (2)
To earn this achievement, you will need to earn three stars on every song in the game, aside from “Song of the Century”, on Bass. I would suggest doing this on your way to “You Had the Time of Your Life” to save a lot of time. This can be earned on any difficulty in Career, Quickplay, and in Challenges. You can check your progress for this and all other achievements in the “Achievements” menu in game.
  • Start a new Career and reach the credits within 12 hours as part of a 4-player band.

    (8)
To earn this achievement you will need to beat the entire 44 song Career in less than twelve hours. You can do this achievement online, but I would strongly recommend doing it locally to avoid quitters, connection problems, etc. It takes roughly three and a half hours to complete every song, so there is plenty of room for breaks. Be sure that you have a 4-player band from start to finish just to be sure. Also, be sure that you end with a song that is charted for every instrument so that everyone gets the achievement. If you play the entire Career in order, you will finish on “21st Century Breakdown”, which does have a chart for every instrument.

This can be done solo if you have all of the instruments. Put every instrument on easy, which auto-enables the “No-Fail” option, and let the career play itself. You still have to select each song; so don’t go too far away. Be sure that the final song is charted for whichever instrument your account is signed in to.
  • Play through a setlist of 20 songs without failing.

    (5)

This has to be done in Quickplay because you cannot make a setlist in Career. This has to be done on Medium difficulty or higher. Do not attempt to select easy and allow the game to play itself, and do not restart any songs. You will waste an hour of your time and you will not get the achievement. The shortest songs are (in order):
    1. Song of the Century [Vocals only]
    2. Coming Clean
    3. Emenius Sleepus
    4. In The End
    5. Burnout
    6. She
    7. Geek Stink Breath
    8. Pulling Teeth
    9. Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) [No Drums]
    10. Sassafras Roots
    11. Having a Blast
    12. Minority
    13. Nice Guys Finish Last
    14. F.O.D.
    15. Hitchin' a Ride
    16. Chump
    17. Murder City
    18. American Idiot
    19. When I Come Around
    20. Basket Case
    21. Christian's Inferno [DLC]
    22. Know Your Enemy [DLC]
    23. Horseshoes and Handgrenades
    24. Peacemaker
I took the list out to 24 for drummers without DLC. I would recommend doing this on your way to “You Had the Time of Your Life” and “In Good Health and Good Time”. Also, you can get “The World Around” if you select at least one song from each venue, which if you follow the list above, you will.
  • Hit 100% of the drum kick notes for "Brain Stew / Jaded" on Expert.

    (5)
To get this achievement you need to hit all of the drum kick notes in “Brain Stew / Jaded”. "Brain Stew" is a relatively simple song, but "Jaded" has a pretty fast beat that is difficult. I would advise getting Overdrive during the "Brain Stew" portion of the song and holding on to it so that you don't have to play a decent amount of "Jaded". You can earn this achievement with the "No-Fail" option on so that you can focus on just the kick pedal. This must be done on Expert difficulty.
  • Get an 8x Band Multiplier.

    (4)
You will need a 4-player band in order to get this achievement. Simply have everyone in the band activate Overdrive at the same time, regardless of individual multipliers and this achievement is yours. This can be done solo if you have all of the instruments. Put everybody on easy, which enables “No-Fail”, and earn full Overdrive for each instrument (You don’t need full Overdrive, but it will help for Vocals and Drums). The hardest part about this is making sure that Vocals and Drums can have Overdrive active at the same time because they don’t get to choose exactly when they can deploy Overdrive. You will get the achievement at the end of the song.
  • Finish any song with Lefty Mode turned on, hitting at least 50% of the notes.

    (1)
You can change your settings to Lefty Mode at the difficulty selection screen by pressing the Back button. You can do this on easy, which enables “No-Fail”, to make things easier, but you still need to hit 50% of the notes. I would recommend doing this on Drums because it doesn’t really change anything other than which hand is used more. If you don’t play drums and are having trouble on easy, you can try looking in a mirror when you play to make it feel like Righty.
  • Get all unison bonuses in the song "American Idiot" with 2 or more players.

You will need to get every Unison Bonus in the song “American Idiot”. To get a Unison Bonus, you need at least two players.
  • Complete Dookie Album Challenge with any instrument.

The “Dookie Album” Challenge is located in Career mode in “1994: The Warehouse”. This challenge consists of all 14 tracks from the Dookie album. You need to earn at least 56 of the possible 70 stars available in this challenge, a four star average.

See “Make the Best of This Test” for more on Challenges.
  • Five-star every song on the American Idiot album.

You will earn this achievement on your way to “You Had the Time of Your Life”. Simply earn a five star rating on each of the 11 songs from the “American Idiot” album. This can be done on any difficulty in Career or Quickplay.
  • Complete the listed songs without the crowd meter going red.

To get this achievement you will need to complete seven songs, "Welcome to Paradise", "Chump", "Longview", "Basket Case", "When I Come Around", "Burnout", and "F.O.D", without allowing your meter to go red. This can be done on any instrument on any difficulty.
  • Hit 40 notes in one drum fill.

    (1)
When you earn enough Overdrive while playing Drums, you get to play “Freeform” sections. These sections allow you to play whatever notes you want, ending with a green note that deploys Overdrive. You need to hit a total of at least 40 notes, combining both hands and your foot. You can hold your drumstick sideways and hit two pads at the same time, which will make this much easier. Hitting two pads with each hand and the foot pedal eight times, which is very doable, is all that it takes.
  • Play a Setlist made up of songs in every venue.

You should get this while going for “Feel Like They’re Gonna Bleed”. If you didn’t, you need to create a setlist with at least one song from each venue. The venues are as follows:

    1994 The Warehouse:
    Contains the entire “Dookie” album.

    2005 Milton Keynes:
Contains the entire “American Idiot” album, “Warning”, “Geek Stink Breath”, “Minority”, “Nice Guys Finish Last”, “Hitchin’ a Ride”, “Brain Stew / Jaded”, and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”.

2009 The Fox Theater – Oakland:
Contains the entire “21st Century Breakdown” album.

  • Earn at least 3 stars on "Peacemaker" on Expert Bass.

You need to play the song “Peacemaker” on Expert Bass and earn at least three stars. Three stars is achievable with a relatively low score, so this shouldn’t be too hard. If you are having trouble, save your Overdrive for parts with a lot of notes and times where you have a 6x multiplier.
  • Earn at least 3 stars on the listed songs on Expert Vocals.

To earn this achievement you need to earn at least three stars on the three listed songs, "Welcome to Paradise", "When I Come Around", and "Basket Case". You must be on Expert difficulty. If you are having trouble passing getting three stars, try listening to them to familiarize yourself with them. If you are having trouble singing, try humming. If you are having trouble passing the songs, you can earn this achievement with the “No-Fail” option enabled.
  • Earn at least 3 stars on "F.O.D." with each instrument in Solo play.

To earn this achievement, you need to earn three stars on the song “F.O.D.” on Bass, Drums, Guitar, and Vocals. This can be done on any difficulty, so it shouldn’t be too hard.
  • Get Gold stars on the listed songs.

    (1)
You need to earn Gold stars on the four listed songs, "Give Me Novacaine/ She's A Rebel", "Homecoming", "Letterbomb", and "Are We the Waiting/ St. Jimmy", in order to earn this achievement. Gold stars are only achievable on Expert difficulty. Earning Gold stars on a song means that you must score very high, well beyond five stars. Try to keep a multiplier as much as possible and deploy Overdrive in sections with a lot of notes. These do not all need to be on the same instrument. Here are the minimum scores needed to earn Gold stars on these songs:

    Give Me Novacaine / She's a Rebel
    Guitar: ~240,000
    Bass: ~196,400
    Drums: ~229,000
    Vocals: ~266,000

    Homecoming
    Guitar: 395,000
    Bass: 294,000
    Drums: 367,000
    Vocals: 482,000

    Letterbomb
    Guitar: 238,000
    Bass: ~168,800
    Drums: 200,800
    Vocals: ~159,000

Are We the Waiting / St. Jimmy
    Guitar: 231,000
    Bass: 160,500
    Drums: 203,475
    Vocals: 255,000
  • Get Gold stars on the listed songs.

    (10)
You need to earn Gold stars on the three listed songs, "She", “Extraordinary Girl”, and “Last Night On Earth”, in order to earn this achievement.

    She
    Guitar: 126,000
    Bass: 123,000
    Drums: 126,000
    Vocals: ~83,750

    Extraordinary Girl
    Guitar: 79,500
    Bass: 103,200
    Drums: ~130,000
    Vocals: 127,500

    Last Night on Earth
    Guitar: ~60,500
    Bass: 32,750
    Drums: 62,500
    Vocals: 117,000
  • Hit 100% of the notes in the solo of "Whatsername" on Hard or Expert Guitar.

You need to hit 100% of the notes in the solo of the song “Whatsername” on Hard or Expert Guitar in Career or Quickplay, not practice. However, I would recommend trying the solo in practice before attempting to get 100% on it in Career or Quickplay. The solo isn’t too tough, so a little bit of practice will get you this achievement.
  • Hit 100% of the notes in the solo of "Hitchin' a Ride" on Expert Guitar.

    (1)
You need to hit 100% of the notes in the solo of the song “Hitchin’ a Ride” on Expert Guitar in Career or Quickplay, not practice. However, I would recommend trying the solo in practice before attempting to get 100% on it in Career or Quickplay. This solo can be pretty tough because it is pretty fast and it has some awkward chord changes. Some people recommend strumming as fast as you can (with “No-Fail” enabled) to make sure you don’t miss a note, but it might make it harder to stay with the rhythm; try whatever works best for you. With some practice, the achievement shouldn’t be too much trouble.
  • 100% the Guitar Solo in "Jesus Of Suburbia" using only finger tapping on Hard or Expert.

To get this achievement, you need to have a Fender Stratocaster Rock Band Guitar Controller. You need to get 100% on the solo of the song “Jesus Of Suburbia” using the smaller buttons near the strum bar. You must tap the entire solo with these buttons and not strum. I would recommend practicing the solo a few times before attempting to get 100% in Career or Quickplay. “Jesus Of Suburbia” is over nine minutes long and the solo is at the very end, so make sure that you can do it. Start tapping on the red note, even though it isn’t part of the solo in Practice. Also, the solo is significantly easier on Hard. You can play the entire song with the solo buttons, but you have to strum outside the solo. I would highly recommend doing this so that you are used to the buttons and don’t have to shift you hand all the way down the neck of the Guitar when the solo pops up.
  • Blue

    15

Get a 95-note streak playing "Last Night On Earth" with the guitar.

Play the song “Last Night On Earth” and keep a streak for 95 notes. This is obtainable on any difficulty. “Last Night On Earth” is fairly slow, so this achievement shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
  • Hit 100% of the notes on "Welcome To Paradise" on medium or higher difficulty bass.

    (3)
You need to hit 100% of the notes in “Welcome To Paradise” on Bass on Medium or higher difficulty. You only need to get 100%, not a Full Combo, so you can over strum. On medium difficulty, this shouldn’t pose too much of a problem. The only advice that I can give if you are having trouble is practice.
  • Hit 100% of the drum notes on one of the listed songs.

    (2)
You need to hit 100% of the notes on one of the listed songs, “Minority”, Longview”, “Welcome To Paradise”, Warning”, “Hitchin’ a Ride”, “Brain Stew / Jaded”, “Basket Case”, or “When I Come Around”, on any difficulty to earn this achievement. You only need to get 100%, not a Full Combo, so you can over drum. A little bit of practice and even new drummers should get this pretty easily. If you are struggling, try holding on to your Overdrive so you do not have to play fills, as fills are usually the most difficult parts of a song.
  • Play "Longview" on Hard or Expert Bass, playing all hammer-ons and pull-offs without strumming.

To get this achievement you need to hit every hammer-on and pull-off in “Longview” without strumming on Hard or Expert Bass. Hammer-ons and Pull-offs are the notes on Bass and Guitar that look smaller than regular notes. You hit them by strumming the note before them then tapping the hammer-on or pull-off. For more information on hammer-ons and pull-offs go to “Training” > “Tutorials” > “Advanced Guitar”. If you are having trouble, turn on “No-Fail” and ignore the sections without hammer-ons.
  • Finish all Challenges (Career owner only).

You can unlock Challenges in Career by earning Cred. You earn Cred by getting three stars or five stars on a song and by completing sets. Once you have enough Cred, you can unlock all of the Challenges. You must complete every set and have _ Cred to unlock every Challenge. Challenges involve playing sets of songs and earning a certain number of stars. In Challenges, multipliers and Overdrive carry over from song to song, so once you hit five stars on a song, save you Overdrive for the next song. Complete all 13 Challenges in order to get this achievement. You do not need to complete the “21st Century Breakdown” Album Challenge. While going for this achievement, you should unlock:

    “Freaky Monkey”
    “Stage Dive”
    “On a Mission”
    “Stereo in the Static Age”
  • Complete a Challenge in The Warehouse venue.

You need to complete one Challenge in the first venue: 1994 The Warehouse.

See “Make the Best of This Test” for more on Challenges.
  • Complete a Challenge in the Milton Keynes venue.

You need to complete one Challenge in the second venue: 2005 Milton Keynes.

See “Make the Best of This Test” for more on Challenges.
  • Complete a Challenge in The Fox Theater - Oakland Venue.

You need to complete one Challenge in the third venue: 2009 The Fox Theater – Oakland.

See “Make the Best of This Test” for more on Challenges.
  • Earn at least 3 stars on all songs in The Warehouse.

You need to earn a three star rating or better on every song in the first venue: 1994 The Warehouse. This venue contains all 14 “Dookie” tracks. You will get this on your way to “You Had the Time of Your Life".
  • Earn at least 3 stars on all songs in Milton Keynes.

You need to earn a three star rating or better on every song in the second venue: 2005 Milton Keynes. This venue contains all 11 “American Idiot” tracks, “Warning”, “Geek Stink Breath”, “Minority”, “Nice Guys Finish Last”, “Hitchin’ a Ride”, “Brain Stew / Jaded”, and “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” You will get this on your way to “You Had the Time of Your Life".
  • Earn at least 3 stars on all songs in The Fox Theater - Oakland.

You need to earn a three star rating or better on every song in the first venue: 1994 The Warehouse. This venue contains all 12 “21st Century Breakdown” tracks. You do not need to earn three stars on the DLC songs. You will get this on your way to “You Had the Time of Your Life".
  • Complete any Challenge with both of the following: 100% a Guitar solo; 100% a Harmony part.

    (2)
To earn this achievement, you will need to get 100% on a guitar solo and 100% on a Vocal Harmony in the same challenge. This does not need to be in the same song, just the same challenge. The easiest Challenge for this is "No Place Like Home" in the third venue: "2009 The Fox Theater - Oakland". This Challenge contains "Restless Heart Syndrome", which has a Guitar solo, and ""Last Night on Earth", which has the Harmony. The Guitar solo in "Restless Heart Syndrome" is pretty simple, so it shouldn't be much troulbe. "Last Night On Earth" only has one Double Harmony section, and you have plenty of time to finish the blue and move to the orange, so it can easily be done by one person with one Mic. You still need to earn the 13/15 stars required to pass the Challenge. The person using the Mic should also get "Step Up to the Mike & Billie Joe". If you can play Guitar and sing at the same time on Easy, you can get this achievement solo.
  • Earn at least 3 stars on "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" with each instrument in Solo play.

To earn this achievement, you need to earn three stars on the song "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" on Bass, Drums, Guitar, and Vocals. This can be done on any difficulty, so it shouldn’t be too hard.
  • Score 400,000 points in a single song in solo mode.

To obtain this achievement you need to score 400,000 points in one song in solo mode. This most likely needs to be done on Expert difficulty. Good songs for this include “Jesus Of Suburbia” and “Homecoming” because both are very long and have a lot of notes. Try to keep a multiplier for as long as possible and deploy Overdrive in sections with a lot of notes.
  • Complete all of Tré's Greatest Hits.

This is by far the most difficult achievement in Green Day: Rock Band. To earn this achievement you must get 100% notes hit on all of Tré's Greatest Hits at 100% speed. You can access this mode by selecting “Training” > “Drum Trainer” > “Tré's Greatest Hits”. There are 74 beats that you must complete. Most of these are fairly doable with a bit of practice, but #73 Cool Solo, Pt. 1 and #74 Cool Solo, Pt. 2 are very difficult. The only advice I can give is practice, practice, practice. Good luck.
  • Complete all the Drum Lessons.

To earn this achievement you must complete all of the Drum Lessons at a speed of 60 BPM or higher. You can access this mode by selecting “Training” > “Drum Trainer” > “Drum Lessons”. With a little bit of practice, even the most difficult beats are not too hard at 60 BPM.
  • Hit All Double Harmonies on any song.

    (1)
To get this achievement you will need to hit all of the Double Harmony sections on any song that contains Double Harmonies. Many songs have Double Harmonies, but the easiest song for this is "Last Night On Earth". It only has one Double Harmony section, and you have plenty of time to finish the blue and move to the orange. This can easily be done by one person with one Mic. This can be done on any difficulty. My only advice if you are struggling is to listen to and familiarize yourself with whatever song you are trying to sing.
  • Hit All Triple Harmonies on any song.

    (4)
To get this achievement you will need to hit all of the Triple Harmony sections on any song that contains Triple Harmonies. You will probably need three people to earn this achievement, but skilled vocalists may be able to get it with one or two. My only advice if you are struggling is to listen to and familiarize yourself with whatever song you are trying to sing.
  • Earn a Guitar Career score of 1,000,000.

You need to earn 1,000,000 points across all of your songs in Career and Quickplay on Guitar. Higher difficulties will earn you more points. Save your Overdrive for sections with a lot of notes and try to keep a multiplier for as long as possible.
  • Earn a Bass Career score of 1,000,000.

You need to earn 1,000,000 points across all of your songs in Career and Quickplay on Bass. Higher difficulties will earn you more points.
