Galaga is a great game that has been around for years, well since 1981 to be precise. The objective of Galaga is to score as many points as possible by destroying insect-like enemies that fly around the screen and attempt to shoot at you, as well as collide into your fighter spaceship.

Introduction
Welcome to Galaga! This game has a total of 12 achievements and requires only one playthrough in order to get the full 200 possible. I gave this game a 1/10 difficulty rating simply because if you die (run out of lives), the game has a continue feature that allows you to select up to the last level you completed, thus eliminating the need to replay the entire game. You also have the option of starting with four lives instead of only having three.

Step 1: Preparation
I can't really say too much for preparation. I guess it would be wise to do some thumb stretches and get ready to strafe and mash the button a lot.

Step 2: Play the Game
As you play through the game, you will gain many of the achievements naturally by progressing through each level. In case you are curious which levels you will attain certain achievements, below I've included a list.

  • Level 2: Enemy Fighter & Dual-fighter
  • Level 5: Scorpion
  • Level 8: Stingray
  • Level 10: Stage 10
  • Level 11: Dragonfly
  • Level 12: Galboss
  • Level 19: Mosquito
  • Level 20: Stage 20
  • Level 30: Stage 30
  • Level 31: Blue Spaceship

Note: For each achievement, regardless if you complete the level or die during that level, you will still unlock the achievements for the enemies as well as the stage achievements.

"Perfect Bonus": This achievement seems to be the one that most tend to have some troubles with. There is an excellent video located below in the  Achievement Guide that will show you exactly how you earn this achievement.

Step 3: Mop Up
Once you complete the game, congratulations as you should have earned all if not most all of the achievements! The most difficult achievement to get, as mentioned above, is “Perfect Bonus” and even it isn't that bad with a little practice.

Conclusion:
That's it! If you've gotten to this point and followed my advice you should have the complete 200 for this game.

[XBA would like to thank Ingles for this Roadmap]

There are 12 achievements with a total of 200 points

  • Find the Blue Spaceship during battle!

The Blue Spaceship is the last boss you will face in order to unlock an achievement and can be found on level thirty one, which is a Challenging Stage. You do not need to destroy it; you only need to find it. It does not matter if you pass the level or die, the achievement will still unlock.

  • Play up to Stage 30!

For this achievement all you need to do is play Stage Thirty. It does not matter if you pass the Stage or die, just as long as you play the Stage. In order to make this achievement slightly less difficult you can change the amount of lives you are allowed in the game options to four instead of three. If you do die during the course of the game you can restart from the last level you played by selecting "1P start at stage <-??->", this saves you from having to replay the entire game again.

  • Shoot down all enemies in a Challenging Stage!

Follow the “Dual Fighter” achievement in level two and make sure to not get shot or you will lose one of your ships. When level three (the Challenging Stage) starts up, position your craft near the center of the screen and hold down which is rapid fire. Now you will have your Duel Fighter shooting rapid fire right into the path of the oncoming ships. All you need to do now is make sure to shoot down all ships, and the achievement will unlock.

Please see this video for a complete walkthrough of this achievement.

  • Shoot down a red captured Fighter!

The easiest level to unlock this achievement on is level two, a Galaga Commander Ship will come down and shoot out a beam towards your ship. However instead of shooting at the enemy ship with (regular) or (rapid fire) as you usually would, allow the beams to cover your ship. This will cause your ship to be captured and you will lose a life, so ensure that you are not on your last life when you go to do this. Once your ship is captured it will turn red and be attached to the back of the ship that captured it, so to destroy it simply shoot down the Captured Ship as it flies behind the Commander Ship.

  • Form a Dual Fighter!

Follow the exact steps in “Enemy Fighter” until the enemy Commander Ship is in control of your Captured Fighter. Now, when the Commander Ship and the Captured Fighter fly down, destroy the Commander Ship to regain control of your ship and form a Duel Fighter, thus unlocking the achievement.

  • Play up to Stage 20!

Please see "Stage 30" for more information.

  • Find the Mosquito during battle!

The Mosquito can be found during level nineteen which is a Challenging Stage. You do not need to destroy it; you only need to find it. It does not matter if you pass the level or die, the achievement will still unlock.

  • Find the Galboss during battle!

The Galboss can be found during level twelve. You do not need to destroy it; you only need to find it. It does not matter if you pass the level or die, the achievement will still unlock.

  • Find the Dragonfly during battle!

The Dragonfly can be found during level eleven which is a Challenging Stage. You do not need to destroy it; you only need to find it. It does not matter if you pass the level or die, the achievement will still unlock.

  • Play up to Stage 10!

Please see "Stage 30" for more information.

  • Find the Stingray during battle!

The Stingray can be found during level eight. You do not need to destroy it; you only need to find it. It does not matter if you pass the level or die, the achievement will still unlock.

  • Find the Scorpion during battle!

The Scorpion can be found during level five. You do not need to destroy it; you only need to find it. It does not matter if you pass the level or die, the achievement will still unlock.
