Anomalous Achievement in Final Fantasy XIII-2

    Witnessed every possible Paradox Ending.

  • How to unlock Anomalous

There are nine total endings you need to witness to unlock this achievement. The first in the list can be done as you play through the game for your first time (as well as the third and fourth using Time Reversals, but you may as well come back after you beat the game and you're the strongest). The rest need to be done after beating the game and unlocking the "Paradox Scope" Fragment Skill from the Chocobo Girl in the Serendipity Casino.

The most difficult ending is probably #7. The rest really gave me no trouble. To beat this one, make sure you have a good Sen monster leveled to about 40ish. I used Bunkerbeast. With the Sen monster drawing Caius' attention, you won't have your attacks interrupted or take nearly any damage, allowing you to easily stagger and defeat him.

    #1: Fate and Freedom

    1. Paradox Scope = N/A.
    2. Episode 5 - Neo Bodhum (Year Unknown)
    3. In a Live Trigger conversation with Lightning, tell her "I accept this world."

    #2: The Future is Hope

    1. Paradox Scope = ON.
    2. Go to City of Academia AF4XX and use Time Reversal.
    3. Proceed to talk with Hope and Alyssa until they request parts of the Graviton Core. Turn them all in to Alyssa, then in the Live Trigger conversation, refuse the Artifact.

    #3: A Giant Mistake

    1. Paradox Scope = ON.
    2. Go to Bresha Ruins AF005 and use Time Reversal.
    3. Defeat Atlas without weakening him first.

    #4: Mog's Marvelous Flan Plan

    1. Paradox Scope = ON.
    2. Go to Sunleth Waterscape AF300 and use Time Reversal.
    3. As you did in the main story, defeat the Royal Ripeness w/ Snow as an ally.
    4. After the story scenes, once you can explore freely, approach the Royal Ripeness a second time and defeat him at his full strength.

    #5: Vanille's Truth

    1. Paradox Scope = ON.
    2. Go to Oerba Village AF200 and use Time Reversal.
    3. Make your way to the northwest rooftop and defeat Caius.

    #6: Test Subjects

    1. Paradox Scope = ON.
    2. Go to Augusta Tower AF200 and use Time Reversal.
    3. Make your way to the top of the tower and defeat Proto fal'Cie Adam.

    #7: Beneath a Timeless Sky

    1. Paradox Scope = ON.
    2. Go to City of Academia AF4XX and use Time Reversal.
    3. Proceed to talk with Hope and Alyssa until they request parts of the Graviton Core. Turn them all in to Alyssa, then in the Live Trigger conversation, accept the Artifact.
    4. Exit back out to the city. Enter gate to the Time-Space Interval with the Artifact you received from Alyssa.
    5. Follow along the path, talking to Yeul as you did in the main story, then defeat Caius in a 1-on-1 battle with Serah. Note that even on Easy Difficulty with a Level 99 in all 6 Roles Serah and Tier 5 monster companions, this can be one of the more challenging battles in the game.

    #8: Heir to Chaos

    1. Paradox Scope = OFF.
    5. Follow along the path, talking to Yule as you did in the main story, then defeat Caius in a 1-on-1 battle with Serah. [Again, note that Paradox Scope = OFF for this battle.]
    6. Follow along with the events in Neo Bodhum (Year Unknown). [Now would be a good time to turn Paradox Scope = ON.]
    7. In a Live Trigger conversation with Lightning, tell her "I won't accept it."
    8. Enter the time distortion to A Dying World AF700. Follow along with the events as you did in the main story, then defeat Caius in a 1-on-1 battle with Noel. [Again, note that Paradox Scope = ON for this battle.]

#9: Secret Ending (Requires 160 Fragments)

    1. Paradox Scope = ON.
    2. Go to City of Academia AF500. Time Reversal is not necessary.
    3. Proceed to defeat Caius and the 3x Chaos Bahamuts as you did in the main story. After all of the same ending events, there will be bonus scenes tacked on to the end after the credits.

  • this seems like it will be fun
  • incredibly time consuming, but fun
  • Does Anyone know a rough estimate of how many there are?
  • there 9 endings. but from what i gather you won't need to start the entire game over again, just satisfy different conditions.
  • Strange, I got every paradox ending unlocked and all the fragments. Do I have to beat the final boss again to unlock the achievement? In my paradox ending category it does say 8/8 yet I'm not getting this achievement or anything.
  • Nevermind. Just noticed that I have to view the secret ending as well.
  • how do u unlock the 9 extra endings? the 8 paradox ones and the secret ending
  • btw is it possible to vew more then one at a time? like are u able to fulfill the requirements for lets say paradox ending 1 and 2 and be able to see them both in 1 go through so u can get both of them outa the way
  • umm nevermind that question lol
  • im missing 1 paradox ending and idk which one it is
  • I believe the last endin will have to be to collect all the fragments for the Secret ending to get this achievement. I have all the fragments under paradox endings but no achievement :(
  • you have to collect all 160 to view the secret ending
  • Gah. I beat the game with all 160 fragments, only to realize you have to have Fragment Scope turned on. Oh well, the end game is pretty quick at this point... but still, what a pain.
  • ya i reallized that i need all 160 im missing 2 fragments which is kill Yomi then the one from showing that dude every monster
  • Do you have to get all the paradoxes' in one play-through and in order?
  • This is one of the last achievements. It's a grind, I would recommend the strategy guide for people wanting to get this achievement. The information on the net is mostly inaccurate, for foreign copies, inconsistent or just plain unorganized. Really it's a mess trying to get the stuff you missed when you beeline to the finish and go back. I'm thinking about getting the official guide and then going by that for a 100% finish. Which will be something I vowed never to do with some of FF13 achievements like "Treasure Hunter" so at least this one is doable.
  • *Spoiler if you haven't already completed the game To get the secret ending you must have all 160 fragments and the paradox scope activated, once this is done you must go to academia -500 AF- and fight the last boss, let it play through at the end and the secret paradox ending will play
  • I liked the "The Future is Hope" Ending, cause its not depressing ... like its usual in nearly everything jap. creators are doing nowadays.
  • you can only go after the paradox endings after getting the fragment skill called "Paradox Scope". It will allow you to change things that lead to a few endings: (There may be SPOILERS here, so be warned if you haven't finished the game yet!) 1) in Academia 4XX when you give all the graviton cores, you can choose not to accept the artifact Alyssa gives you, it will grant you an interesting paradox ending. 2) the one you get from killing Atlas in Bresha Ruins 005AF (without using that machine that weakens it). 3) fighting His Royal Ripeness at its best in Sunleth Waterscape 300AF. The ending you get was one of my favorites. Gotta love Mog lol. 4)the ones i think were a bit harder were during that time when Serah fights Caius on her own (before reaching A Dying World 700AF),
  • if you have the Paradox scope on, you'll have an harder fight with Caius (it will say Paradox scope activated when the fight starts) and once it's done, you get an ending. 5) Ya know when Lightning asks you to stay and you said no, then vanille and fang showed up? go back and say yes, and youve got an ending. 6) Same thing as 4, but with Noel in A Dying World 700AF. 7) Augusta tower 200AF, fight the Proto fal'cie Adam with the scope on and you get another ending. 8) Oerba 200AF, fight Caius with the scope on and youve got another ending. Of course, to replay the story parts and reach some of these fights, you'll have to close the gate, but i think that's obvious enough
  • #7: Beneath a Timeless Sky The key that I found to being able to solo Caius easily is to have a Sentinel as your monster. I used the Silver Chocobo leveled up to max and infused with a lvl 1 Microchu, lvl 1 Pulsework Knight, and a lvl 1 Cactuar for their abilities. The Silver Chocobo used mediguard basically the whole fight while I had Serah switching from Sab to Rav. Was pretty easy.
  • havent gotten this one yet takes too long
  • So I got the one where Alyssa turns out to be the baddy then went into the time thing and ended up fighting Caius (again) on my own as Serah.. I'm getting seriously p0wned... What on earth? Is this normal? I smashed him to pieces to play through properly, now I'm nothing more than cannon fodder and don't know how to get around him. Any ideas?
  • Did it. Sentinal for my monster all the way
  • Not going to lie, that secret ending was terrible.
  • @25 Agreed. I thought getting all fragments would have changed it.
  • oh joy more hours of gameplay
  • To get all 9 endings do you have to play the game 9 times? Or can you just play it once but go back in time and change your actions, thus getting a different ending?
  • cant believe i wasted my time on this if your after it i guess its only worth it for the cheevo or full gamerscore this is going on my most shameful;'; yes that means it's even worse then the 20 consecutive loses online on DOA 4 for 0G.
  • Some TIPS for #7 the solo Caius fight. You should have a maxed out Silver Chocobo - the racing build will suffice - which is going to be the essential part of surviving the fight. I was not 99 in all classes but had all abilities unlocked. Paradigms - SEN/SEN , SAB/SEN , RAV/COM , MED/SEN Paradigm to start is SEN/SEN to take little damage from Caius' initial onslaught. Next switch to SAB/SEN and spam Poison until it sticks - this counters any gradual healing from his Body and Soul perk as well as taking down his life bar. Next cycle through to get Imperil, Deprotect, and Deshell (Dispel when he uses Absolution). Then spam Wound until you get him staggered. Switch to a RAV/COM - Gold Chocobo is good (mine was lvl 30) and do as much damage as you can. Should he Chain Break switch to
  • continued... Should he Chain Break switch to either MED/SEN to heal up or SAB/SEN and repeat until staggered. Once you get him down once he will revive (using Wound will decrease his overall health available for regeneration). Repeat method to drop him again. I got 5 Stars using this method and I wasn't even max level. Also for equipment I had the weapon Rune Feather to increase the ATB gauge quickly and Accessories: Twist Headband to occasionally continue my attack without getting interrupted - which Caius does a lot of - but should be an issue a whole lot if your SEN can keep the aggro with Skills like Challenge. I also had a Silver Bangle to increase HP but both items didn't needed post-battle.
  • I went with Sab/Sen to disable his buffs (Heart of Chaos & etc.) Then when he was DEBUFFed i shifted to Rav/Sen & damaged him a lot . But you have to turn back to Sab/Sen to stop him from HEALING again (just Deprotect or Deshell till he stops healing ) Repeat this a few times , pretty easy
  • Neither "A Giant Mistake" nor "Mog's Marvelous Flan Plan" endings require the Paradox Scope, you just have to choose to fight the bosses without continuing the normal story and weakening them. I got both of those Paradox endings without even beating the story, so it was definitely done without getting the Scope.
