yeah same here,i think this may be one of the hardest for me...unless there is a little cheat like in RDR(betting maximum all the time for the others to fold)

@3 Its only luck based if you play your cards, as Bond says...you play the person across from you =P Plus its based more on Mathematical Chance than Luck with cards....You gotta know when to hold em, and know when to fold 'am

Okay enough of that :P At least there is no Five Finger Fillet in this one....god that prevented me from getting the RDR 100% for a couple of years.

You can cheat in this by finding playing cards scattered around the game

^^How do you use those cards during a game though? I haven't been able to figure that out.

I got the achievement just by spamming the 'Skip Ahead' and 'All In' option, hoping that I busted out all players and win the bet. :P

Just choose Expert level and keep choosing 'All In' and may luck be with you.
I think I got it around 15 retries.

Is this to win $1500 in one game of Poker? I won 1000 on my first try but haven't tried since so I don't know if it accumulates.

To clarify a few points:

It is not 1500 over a single game.
It is not net balance, so it doesn't matter how much you lose.
You have to quit a game with a positive balance, and that number is what contributes towards credit for the achievement; it will not pop mid-game.

I also spammed All In and the skip function. Just don't be stupid and play good hole cards.

play one hand in a game, then leave no matter what the outcome. Then leave the table and if your positive then that adds to your total poker winnings. losses do not subtract so just keep on going with it.
doesn't take too long

I got this one while doing a side quest for a guy on the southern island. He wanted me to win his $300 back from a trio of "card sharks." I ended up walking away with 2k from that game alone. I seemed to have much better cards when playing those three and was getting 2 pairs, straights, and 3 of a kinds nearly every hand.

The side quest in Thurston Town on the south island had a scripted poker game you participate in so all you have to do is go all in on each hand and you will win $2000 gaining you the achievement :)

@18 and 19 you beat me to it haha.
As nineteen has said go to the town where you originally met sam and a quest called the Father's Burden should be there. You end up playing a novice game of poker for a prize of 2000 dollars. Takes 10-15 minutes depending on the hands that you get its much easier than just playing poker.

Poker in this game is incredibly easy and just like RDR, string the AI along with All-In bets and they will fold fairly often giving easy wins. Guaranteed more fun then a "real" game about poker or poker in RL.

I did the All In method. Worked after 6 hands, 3 of which I folded because of bad hands. Just look at your cards and if they are even close to a good hand, go All In. Won two hands at 750 each.

Easy achievement.

Where can you play poker at in this game???? There was a cut scene where you play all your chips but I've looked around for poker can't find it..... How am I missing it ....I just gave the ancient knife to that chick so is it further in the game

The side quest in Thurston Town will unlock it. You have to win money back from a compulsive gambler. For those who need help with poker, here are guidelines high to low -

4 of a kind defeats a full house

Full House - 3 of a kind, 2 of a kind

Royal Straight - Same suite, exact order of cards

Straight - The same suite (all diamonds/all spades/etc) random order

Pair - 2 of a kind

You have to win money back FOR a compulsive gambler. Sorry for the typo. Also, here's one more way to win: high card. Let's say there's a 4, 3, 7, 2 on the table. If you have a face card in your hand and your opponents don't bet high or anything at all, you likely have them beat.

@anybody who fooled you 26-27
A Royal Flush...Ace,K,Q,J,10 all suited.
A Straight Flush is any suited straight that is not Ace High.
A straight is NOT random order?@#$ has to be in Order. not same suite.
A Flush has to be suited, not in any order.
Please tell me that you know that and are trolling for idiots cuz you found one lets play...

If you're struggling because you don't know how good your hand is, press LS when playing poker and it'll give you the different hands in a ranked list, along with the % chance you have of hitting each with your current cards; this'll help you decide when and how big to bet, and like others have said, do it on the Father's Burden story quest mission on the south island as you have to win $1,500 to progress in that mission - and if you lose your money and can't afford to buy back in, just pause and choose restart objective until you win.

I can also confirm that #19''s process works. I just played two hands of poker in a row, went "all in" on both hands, and the achievement unlocked. Only took a couple minutes. Thanks for the hint on this one!
