![]() | Comment #1 by FeastThePlague Monday, October 25, 2010 @ 07:23:54 AM A good person to grind this out on is the shop owner in Novac. Just head inside the big dinosaur and challenge the guy behind the counter. He only bets around 200-400 depending on how many caps you dump to him trying to figure this game out, but then after you beat him like 20 times he's only betting 1-5 caps per game, so there's no real risk of breaking your own bank trying to get this. Also, never challenge the NCR ambassador in The Strip, he'll beat you like you owe him child support. |

![]() | Comment #7 by Uncle Cousin Wednesday, December 01, 2010 @ 12:36:06 AM @1 There is a very cheap way to play caravan that will pretty much let you beat anybody. If you want to beat him badly or if you're short on caps (he usually bets over 1000 the first time), look here (SPOILER ALERT) http://www.gamefaqs.com/xbox360/959557-fallout-new-vegas/faqs/61184 (SPOILER ALERT) |
![]() | Comment #8 by L3W15T3R Monday, December 06, 2010 @ 02:00:52 PM If your looking for an easy way to win at caravan, just get at least 2 10s, 2 9s and 2 7s (it helps if you have more). Just play anyone, (i dont know whos good and whos bad), and before you play a card, discard your cards until you hae the 2 10s, 9s and 7s. Then just build two of the pile things (caravans to be specific)to equal 26, and you should then win. This is working for me, and once i got the hang of it, i never lost a game (im on 15 wins) Hope this helps :) |
![]() | Comment #9 by SDHoneymonster Tuesday, December 21, 2010 @ 07:56:55 AM I don't think you can just grind it out on one character; I've played a couple of people about 4-6 times and I no longer have the option to play them. Just keep moving around and you'll get it eventually. People I've found relatively easy to beat are: Lacey (Mojave Outpost) Johnson Nash (Primm) Ringo (Goodsprings/Crimson Caravan Company) |
![]() | Comment #10 by SDHoneymonster Tuesday, December 21, 2010 @ 09:22:42 AM Correction: you seem to be able to play Ringo an unlimited amount of times. The stakes are pretty small with him, so you should be able to get the hang of it. |
![]() | Comment #11 by TurboPhoenix Saturday, December 25, 2010 @ 12:16:56 AM Even if you use the 7, 9 and 10 method, you will still lose a lot of the time. I've used that method every time and my record is currently 5 wins and 10 losses. It would help if Caravan wasn't such a crap and complicated game. So much for Obsidian coming up with a "fun" card game... |
![]() | Comment #12 by DrDaggers Tuesday, December 28, 2010 @ 04:21:56 PM Caravan is the easiest way to make money.. Takes a bit to understand the game, but once you get it, easy. You still lose occasionally, but more often then not you're winning. I still don't understand exactly what the Joker does.. Object just is to get 2 of your 'caravans' (lines of cards) to 21-26, the order of cards is either ascending or descending depending on the first card laid after the initial card. It seems suited cards can be played in any order. In order to win, you need to have 2 caravans at the correct numbers with your opponent not having 21-26 on his corrosponding stack. Jacks on his lines will remove cards. Very Handy for wins! |
![]() | Comment #13 by vorpal187 Saturday, January 08, 2011 @ 10:58:44 AM The joker, removes every card of the suit that you place it on. If you place it on a ten of hearts, then it will remove every heart from the board including yours. |
![]() | Comment #14 by KohrinSoulez Wednesday, January 12, 2011 @ 02:25:22 AM Max out on 10's & Kings. I kept drawing both off start, and 20 after first card is nice starting place |
![]() | Comment #15 by Skelebone Tuesday, January 18, 2011 @ 09:20:42 AM I spent time buying up caravan cards whenever I could find them, and I think I have about 6x 7, 7x 9, and 8x 10 (plus a bunch of other cards), but I built a deck around 7x 10, 7x 9, 6x 7, 3x 6, 3x A, and 4x Jack (30 cards). This deck sets you very well for the game since most every combo will set you at 26. In your starting hand lay down 10s or 7s to start the run, then play a 9 on either, and finish with the complementary card (10 on a 7-start, or 7 on a 10-start.) Since I don't have enough 7-9-10 to build the deck entirely on a the combo, the Aces and sixes are in there as "good" start/finishes, as you can start a run on the Ace, follow with a six, and then you should probably have drawn a 9 and 10 to finish, or a six makes 10-9 a 25, which can sometimes win the pile. The Jacks are i |
![]() | Comment #16 by Skelebone Tuesday, January 18, 2011 @ 09:22:29 AM Rest of the comment: The Jacks are in there to fill out the deck, but also to remove cards from the middle of your opponent's runs, i.e. take the middle out of a run that's already at 25 or 26. I popped this achievement with 30-3 record, with two of those losses early on when I didn't have a very good deck, and one mystery loss where I had all piles at 26, but somehow the NPC won. |
![]() | Comment #17 by jleist24 Thursday, January 20, 2011 @ 04:03:27 PM I've triede playing caravan many many times and just don't get the game. And have yet to win one against anyone. Is there anyway someone can dumb it down for me and simply explain the point of the game? |
![]() | Comment #18 by Skelebone Thursday, January 20, 2011 @ 04:35:15 PM In Caravan you are laying cards down on the table in an attempt to get to a number between 21 and 26, and you are winning an area by having a set of cards with higher value than your opponent wihtout going over 26. Cards must be played in a sequence, ascending or descending, e.g. if you start a pile with 5 and follow with 6, you can only play a card higher than 6 on that pile next. Cards are valued at face value, but face cards have special value/abilities. Your goal should be to get to "winning" combinations as quickly as possible while sabotaging your opponent when able. That's the basis behind the deck set-up I outline above. If you want to know more about what the face-cards do, here is an off-site link at IGN with information; in my estimation, the only face card you need to w |
![]() | Comment #19 by Skelebone Thursday, January 20, 2011 @ 04:36:46 PM Gah.. post limit. If you want to know more about what the face-cards do, here is an off-site link at IGN with information; in my estimation, the only face card you need to worry about is a jack, or that you understand what a King does and why you might want to use a Jack to take it out of your opponent's Caravan. http://faqs.ign.com/articles/113/1130815p1.html |
![]() | Comment #20 by Karnivore915 Saturday, January 29, 2011 @ 04:50:45 PM Not too difficult, just a grind. And Caravan is pretty fun, unique, and once you understand it you'll question how you couldn't get it earlier. |
![]() | Comment #21 by grimjack352 Friday, February 04, 2011 @ 02:41:05 PM KohrinSoulez, #14, hit the nail on the head...10's & kings is the way to go. You can get this achievement with Ringo at the very beginning of the game with the starter deck that he gives you. Just get rid of your queens & jacks as well as your jokers, and most of your low cards-2's,3's,4's. Make sure your deck is bigger than his. Start out with your high cards-10's, 9's etc. If you draw a king, drop it on one of those. Should fall into place from there. Once I figured out this strategy I was able to set all 3 of my "caravans" in usually 6-8 moves. I knocked out my last 15 matches in around 30 minutes last night. And you can keep playing Ringo even after he's out of cash, just hit Y to accept& start match. You just won't get any money when you win. |
![]() | Comment #22 by grimjack352 Friday, February 04, 2011 @ 02:42:41 PM If you draw 2 10's & 2 kings from the start, you can have 2 piles at 20 in 4n moves...very easy win. |

![]() | Comment #24 by thefiggyfox Saturday, February 12, 2011 @ 03:21:57 AM I find caravan easy because of my strategy but this achievement will take some time but my advice is to not bet so much caps so you dont waste them especially if you do not know how to play the card game properly |

![]() | Comment #28 by The AK Kodiak Friday, April 01, 2011 @ 04:11:31 AM This achievement was not that hard to attain, once I figured out what the hell was going on. I have to agree with posts 8 and 15, the "7's, 9's , 10's" was the easiest for me. Caravan, as an actual card game though, is lame! Not to mention all the bugs. I had weird issues with placing my cards at first, and on multiple occasions I got 3x26 before the other player but did not win. Although, it is a great way of making a lot of caps fast. |
![]() | Comment #29 by MrLukifer Friday, April 01, 2011 @ 03:46:23 PM Two notes: * The game can't end with any tied caravans. So if there's a tie anywhere, the game will keep going until that tie is broken. * Don't forget that you can play Kings on your opponent as well. Good for busting out one of their caravans so they have to waste a Jack on themselves, or discard the entire train. |

![]() | Comment #35 by Hobo Brawler Friday, June 03, 2011 @ 06:34:34 AM Uncle Cousin posted a great link for this one. The 10s, 9s, 7s trick worked perfectly. I just walked up to Ringo and schooled him 30 in a row. |
![]() | Comment #36 by PartTimeHero Sunday, June 05, 2011 @ 12:57:43 PM Just keep beating Ringo (if you can) at the Crimson Caravan until you get it. He never bets a lot of caps, so it isn't very costly if you lose. |
![]() | Comment #37 by IcarusPain Monday, June 06, 2011 @ 09:11:26 AM The 10's, 9's, 7's deck combo works wonders, thanks for that posting. I went 56 - 7, but I have not gotten either of the two achievements. I mean wtf must I do more to get it?! I mean this game is so buggie that I got the Desert Survivalist achievement at 30,357 points of healing and the game never said I beat it on hardcore which I did 3 different times and working on the fourth. Is there a way I can get some info to contact Bethesda or Obsidian and bitch? |

![]() | Comment #43 by Ralen Friday, August 26, 2011 @ 05:42:05 PM Having tried to get this for the last few hours, and failing to understand (despite several guides and wiki entries to the contrary) why i can't make the exact same moves as the AI, or why the AI can take my stacks to 40-50 and above whereas I can't add a single stack to its own regardless of suite or numerical value? ![]() | Comment #50 by k3ndykane Wednesday, January 11, 2012 @ 06:37:37 PM If your second card on one of your stacks is higher in value than the first one, you have to continue going up in value, (unless you lay a queen, which will allow you to go the opposite way, in this case, lower in value). Vice versa, meaning if the second card on a stack is lower than the first, you have to keep going lower in value (unless you lay a queen). Kings double the card value of whichever card you lay it on, and Jacks will remove whatever card you put it on. Jack's, Queen's, and King's can be played on your stacks, or your opponents. Ignore Jokers imo. Another bend to the rule of only going higher or lower in value if you do not have a queen, is if the suit is the same, you can use the card, but it cannot be the exact same value. ![]() | Comment #54 by Event Control Saturday, February 25, 2012 @ 07:57:56 AM Right, this was pretty easy for me as i found Ringo in the Crimson Caravan Camp, you literally walk through the door and walk directly in front of you and he will be standing outside a caravan, he only plays with a deck of 22 and is really easy to beat if you have the right cards. I used about all my Kings, 10`s, 9`s, 7`s and Jack`s. If you know how to play Caravan then you should know why i used them cards. After i beat him, i played him again and again until the Achievement popped up, it is really easy. It will help if you buy some cards aswell, just check each of the shops you know of and buy them. Anyone in need of help, just message me. - Event Control |
![]() | Comment #55 by Leelle Organa Thursday, March 01, 2012 @ 01:52:38 PM I agree on the 10's & Kings tip. That is the best way to quickly get to 26. Also use Jacks to lower your opponents caravans (very useful). Another tip is to collect cards from the same suit (2 suits works best, hearts & spades for example). If your cards are from the same suit it doesn't matter if you go up or down in numbers you can always lay them on top of your caravans. The first card determines the suit, so the more cards you have from the same suit, the easier to win. |
![]() | Comment #56 by Temesklk Saturday, March 03, 2012 @ 08:03:04 AM I finished with 30 wins and 4 losses with the 10, 9, 7 tactic and played every game with Ringo. Just remember to use Jacks to take one card away from your opponents pile of cards and also put Kings to your opponents pile of cards so it goes over 26. I started getting the achievement today and I had no idea how to play whole game. I just watched Rooster Teeth's video which link is in the comment number 32 and i got it almost right away. |

![]() | Comment #58 by el Ron Burgundy Tuesday, July 31, 2012 @ 10:28:23 AM Caravan is fun and strategic. Play against No-bark. He uses a lot of Jacks, and uses them early, so lay down crap cards (A, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) to start. He'll use his jacks to remove them. One fun strategy (that would really piss your friends off if you played this game in real life) would be to collect a deck of 6s, 10s, Ks, and Js. Sixes are unique because they're the only card that falls into the range of 21-26 if you play 2 K on them. So use your 6 and 10 to get to 16, and use a K on your 10 to get to 26. Use jacks to kill your opponent's hand. No-bark is relatively easy once you get used to him raping all your initial piles with jacks. |
![]() | Comment #59 by Sigmund666 Monday, August 13, 2012 @ 05:21:24 PM Whatever you do on the '10,9,7'strategy, first remove the updates and clear the cache, otherwise the bug switching most of the cards won't work. (That is were you start, press LT and dump all the shitty cards like aces, jacks, queens, jokers, etc.) Sometimes you might lose a hand or get in trouble with cards, but hey! That's were save games come in handy :D |

![]() | Comment #67 by Deadsea 18 Wednesday, April 17, 2013 @ 11:49:46 PM Guys play Ringo, hes easiest. Also Issac is pretty easy. Save before every Caravan Match, after every win save, after every loss, load it up. No Bark is probably the hardest I encountered he has so many Jokers that I was constantly cussing him at calling him an A Hole, and cheater ha ha. Eventually I took out all my Kings and jokers and played with Aces,2s,3s 5s,8s,9s,and 10s. I started winning really fast (Sometimes within a minute litterly) cause i was comfortable playing this way. If my opponet laid a king ontop of my pile,I discarded the whole pile, this happened rarely. The game is confusing at first. Think of it like an Auction were you want to ''outbid'' the opponet. Or like having an army and upgrading the army to maxium efficiency. The key is to get as close to or at 26. D |
![]() | Comment #68 by Deadsea 18 Wednesday, April 17, 2013 @ 11:53:38 PM Continued. Don't go over 26,Jokers can decrease an overboard number,it can also make an opponets 26 go down. A King can make you get to 26 fast, and make an opponet go over 26 just as fast. Discard all queens early on they are useless, and any ''Joke'' Joker cards, that have a full bodied Jester. Save Ringo early on at Good Springs from the Powder gangers. Then at the Gas Station immediatly challenge him in Caravan. After the 3 victors you will get the first caravan achivement. Issac is at Gunn Runners near Freeside. Ringo can be found at ''Crimson Caravan Company.'' |
