Please don't tell me you need Hearthfire for this one

Shouldn't do as before hearthfire was released you were able to purchase a house after completing tasks for the Jarls. Hearthfire enabled you to purchase land to build new houses from scratch. :D

There is a rule that you cannot make a DLC necessary to play another DLC.
Owning a house doesn't require you crafting one, just buying one like all the other homes in Skyrim.

Another house? I already own enough houses in Skyrim to make a village.

To be a little more specific, there are two quests you need to complete to own a home in Raven Rock.
Specifically, "March of the Dead" and "Served Cold"
Credit goes to GameFront.com for providing the videos.

Once you complete "Served Cold" the guy gives you the house of the people you just killed. Kind of cool that you don't have to buy it.

@3 That doesn't apply to achievements. Developers just usually don't do that.

Hey guys. I completed March of the Dead... and the Captain isn't giving me "is there anything else I can do" option. instead he sends me looking for Emberbrand Wine... can anyone help me with this?

@14 You need to talk to Adril Arano after he send you a letter saying come meet him,he's Councilor Morvayn's 2nd; the guy who came out to the boat when you first arrived. He wonders the town or can be found in the Councilor's house (just left of the jetty that you came ashore on)

@14. i just got the mission from the guard captain to speak to adril arano. it seems that it does not appear directly after march of the dead unless u've done a few side missions in raven rock as well. i just completed the one in the mine (i forget what it was called) and the captain came up to me soon after. i'm guessing it has to do with building ur reputation in the town, which is something adril arano mentions from time to time. hopefully that helps

Agree with @17, as soon as i did one side mission after the "March of the Dead" quest, I had the chance to speak with Adril Arano :)
