![]() | Comment #2 by Corvese Monday, October 03, 2011 @ 08:19:21 PM From what I remember from Oblivion, I had to pick A LOT of doors, shouldnt be a big deal. |
![]() | Comment #3 by Lukeweizer Monday, October 03, 2011 @ 08:34:10 PM Picking locks won't be a problem. And just make a hard save before you pickpocket in case you fail. |
![]() | Comment #4 by Dcon6393 Monday, October 03, 2011 @ 08:36:24 PM sweet, this is all I did in Oblivion |
![]() | Comment #5 by Fang Ma Guo Lai Monday, October 03, 2011 @ 09:41:12 PM My only concern is I don't plan on putting ANY points in lockpicking... guess i will if i HAVE to... but i'd rather not. |
![]() | Comment #6 by rustyferg Monday, October 03, 2011 @ 10:47:37 PM @5 You don't "put" points into skills, they level up as you use them. There's no negative effects of levelling it up, so who cares? |
![]() | Comment #7 by Dangerous Brian Tuesday, October 04, 2011 @ 03:11:52 AM @2 Doors are never a problem, Pockets, well that's different. Hate picking pockets. |
![]() | Comment #8 by ScoobyWRX555 Tuesday, October 04, 2011 @ 06:31:54 AM hoped that this wouldnt be in or pickpocketing. lock picking in oblivion / fallout 3 did get tedious, it was only on getting the skeleton key in oblivion saved me from total frustration. |
![]() | Comment #9 by Fang Ma Guo Lai Tuesday, October 04, 2011 @ 07:46:21 AM @6... You're absolutely right. I was thinking like it's fallout rather than the Skyrim leveling system. This should be no problem then. |
![]() | Comment #10 by Cursed Romance Tuesday, October 04, 2011 @ 09:04:27 AM Oh This is going to be easy ;) |
![]() | Comment #11 by Annalie Wednesday, October 05, 2011 @ 07:59:53 AM Very easy. |
![]() | Comment #12 by ViperX700 Wednesday, October 05, 2011 @ 01:17:18 PM Argonians get a skill bonus on lockpicking, i think it's +25. Anyways, hopefully pickpocketing will be more reasonable this time than in Morrowind and Oblivion. Also i hope the skill level has a greater impact on which locks you are allowed to pick as in Fallout 3 & NV. In Oblivion the level didn't matter that much, because all that it came down was to being good at the minigame, which wasn't that hard anyway. |
![]() | Comment #13 by TheUglyCasanova Wednesday, October 05, 2011 @ 03:23:48 PM Wonder how you will level pick pocketing if you start at 0? Seems like you would just get caught every time until you leveled it up enough. Or maybe it's one in the same with lockpicking or something. |
![]() | Comment #14 by General Redland Wednesday, October 05, 2011 @ 03:54:54 PM For those curious as to how the system works, they stated that the lock-picking mechanism would be more similar to, "or almost exactly like", the lock-picking mechanism in Fallout. I assume that this means they will use the "two pins in a spinning model" approach. I don't believe they have said whether or not they will use the "you need a lockpick skill of 25 to open this lock" model, but you do level up the stat for lock-picking by continuously doing so, the same as in Oblivion, as the lock-picking stat appears in the skill menu once again. Pickpocketing in the past has been determined by a number of different factors: light in the zone, weight of your boots, weight/number of stolen goods, "awareness" of target, Sneak skill, and Agility. This should be calculated roughly the same, t |
![]() | Comment #15 by General Redland Wednesday, October 05, 2011 @ 03:55:58 PM though Agility is no longer a factor as it has been removed as an alterable stat. Wearing Dark Brotherhood gear and sneaking in the nigh has worked fine in the past. Or, if you prefer going all out, just enchant equipment with Chameleon (or learn the spell) and do the work in broad daylight. I haven't seen the full list of perks so far, but (Stealth Suit + Silent Running + a few dozen grenades to pull the Indiana Jones exchange) = victory in Fallout 3. I shall try to emulate that to whatever extent that I can in Skyrim. I hope this helped clear a little confusion off the table. :) |
![]() | Comment #16 by Wooly x360a Thursday, October 06, 2011 @ 12:15:48 AM this one will come naturally for me, i love playing a thief character. |
![]() | Comment #17 by ServbotNamedSxE Thursday, October 06, 2011 @ 12:59:39 PM @4: same here! and I always saved before I tried pickpocketing someone, it's necessary since even despite my high lvl of stealth in Oblivion I had a 50/50 chance of being caught even when the person was asleep at night! some of my favorite times in Oblivion were from taking the food off of someone and putting a poisoned apple in its place! id follow them around till they sat down to eat and watch how they'd die in their seat! XD even more hilarious if they were a mage and you watch as thier life drains and they are trying to heal themselves and do...until their mana runs out. >:D |
![]() | Comment #18 by Ajex Saturday, October 08, 2011 @ 09:46:11 AM lol @17 thats funny. |
![]() | Comment #19 by WREQUIEM Saturday, October 08, 2011 @ 10:20:31 AM pickpocketing scares me "Stop You've violated the law!" |
![]() | Comment #20 by trex98 Saturday, October 08, 2011 @ 06:32:47 PM Skeleton key anyone? |
![]() | Comment #21 by XAvantiaX Sunday, October 09, 2011 @ 01:55:27 PM Badass,am a master of picking locks and the shadows. ;) This will be easy and fun. |
![]() | Comment #22 by mitcho2013 Sunday, October 09, 2011 @ 02:33:52 PM this trophy basically means that I'm choosing an Argonian rogue as my character |
![]() | Comment #23 by Annalie Monday, October 10, 2011 @ 11:15:22 AM @22 trophy? here we unlock Achievements. anyways... like someone else said i hope there is a skeleton key. because it was the best thing ever. however its easy all the same pickpocketing may be a problem unless you save beforehand. |
![]() | Comment #24 by Reiner 32 Monday, October 10, 2011 @ 07:39:35 PM the skeloton key was useful but took alot of fun away from it,like the money glitch i hope they dont have it again because as useful as it was it took alot of skill away from the game |
![]() | Comment #25 by sethlord Sunday, October 16, 2011 @ 12:02:07 PM @24 or perhaps have it be only available to higher level players. Oblivion i think you only had to be level 10 or so to do the quest to get it. |
![]() | Comment #26 by reymarkable Sunday, October 16, 2011 @ 05:40:37 PM i gonna miss oblivion where i just duplicated lock picks |
![]() | Comment #27 by Dignifiedcrab Tuesday, October 18, 2011 @ 04:21:34 PM I never picked locks in oblivion i always used open lock spells since i was a mage when i played. |
![]() | Comment #28 by Tobiasrocks Wednesday, October 19, 2011 @ 04:39:55 AM STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM !!! |
![]() | Comment #29 by Arawos Sunday, October 23, 2011 @ 05:22:09 AM I'm going thief on first playthrough anyways so this will be easy. Love thieves! :D |
![]() | Comment #30 by Waggy Wednesday, October 26, 2011 @ 04:35:35 PM Hmm... I wonder if this means you have to actually have to take something from the pockets, or whether just entering and exiting the pocket works towards it. Wonder if there's a place like the Skooma Den in Oblivion where you could enter and exit over and over again without being reported. Either way, this one won't take me long at all :) |
![]() | Comment #31 by Grohlvana Wednesday, October 26, 2011 @ 06:19:07 PM The only annoying part of this Achievement is picking pockets; not because it's hard, just because it's going to be tedious. |
![]() | Comment #32 by VheissuVII Thursday, October 27, 2011 @ 12:28:07 AM If I remember right, the lockpicking in Skyrim is going to be very similar to Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Which totally rocks, I never did really care for Oblivion's take on it. |
![]() | Comment #33 by ThePrince Monday, October 31, 2011 @ 05:24:01 PM This is probably going to take me forever. Hopefully not though. |
![]() | Comment #34 by dEku Friday, November 04, 2011 @ 03:27:39 PM I'm totally going to be a master thief. I'll be taking the clothes off peoples backs. |
![]() | Comment #35 by Predalien90 Saturday, November 05, 2011 @ 09:46:27 AM No big deal. In Oblivion I played a muscle bound warrior guy and still managed to pick over 200 locks before completing the main story. Pickpocketing may be difficult though. |
![]() | Comment #36 by cerenshand Sunday, November 06, 2011 @ 08:30:28 PM this should be pretty easy |
![]() | Comment #37 by Acky316 Monday, November 07, 2011 @ 03:52:04 PM Does anyone know if you'll have to invest too terribly many points into the skills associated with getting these? |
![]() | Comment #38 by antikrux Wednesday, November 09, 2011 @ 10:41:41 PM @37 there are no points to be allocated, the skills "level" as you use them. |
![]() | Comment #39 by bardok42 Thursday, November 10, 2011 @ 10:12:23 AM im going to hate having to pick the pockets... i still havent gotten that achievment in fallout new vegas lol |
![]() | Comment #40 by Finnis21 Sunday, November 20, 2011 @ 12:05:37 AM Why does everyone keep saying that you can't invest points into skills? I'm pretty sure ppeople are talking about the perks. To answer their intended questions: No. while perks do help get these acheivements, you should be able to get them without any need to invest perks into the skill trees. Pick pocketing will be more difficult than lock picking. However, PROTIP: join the thieves guild and go around picking pockets in Riften. You'll get in trouble, but you'll be able to buy off the guards with an immensely small sum of money. Seriously, its pretty much no penalty pick pocketing, and it'll increase your skill as well. |
![]() | Comment #41 by Gidet Monday, November 21, 2011 @ 01:44:24 PM This was the last achievement I got... I hate picking pockets -_- |
![]() | Comment #42 by gabehabe Wednesday, November 23, 2011 @ 04:35:00 PM One of the first achievements I got on Skyrim! :D |
![]() | Comment #43 by cam91191 Saturday, November 26, 2011 @ 07:13:26 AM You actually have to take something, and not get caught. getting caught is the annoying part, as i'm often caught because some ramdomer has seen me at the last second :P take note of the 'chance of stealing' at the bottom of the screen before trying to pickpocket something. |
![]() | Comment #44 by TannerTeddybear Monday, November 28, 2011 @ 02:08:47 AM Easiest way to do this, as well as easiest way to get your Pick-Pocket skill up; once you become the Thieves Guildmaster you can pick pocket them all day long, they never get mad they just take all their things back. Just leave and re-enter and try again. The more things you take from them the more skill ups you'll get and it WILL count towards the Achievement if you pick-pocket successfully from the same person 50 times. |
![]() | Comment #45 by TannerTeddybear Monday, November 28, 2011 @ 02:10:45 AM @45 Also, if you find someone who can train you in a certain skill, you can pickpocket all your cash back from them. |
![]() | Comment #46 by jandrobandro Monday, December 05, 2011 @ 11:19:01 PM The easiest way for me to do this was to go to riften and purposely get my self stuck in jail...If you then break out and go to the guy directly across from you (his name is something blackbriar) you can pick-pocket him an unlimited number of times and even if you get caught he still won't care. This is also great for leveling pickpocket. |
![]() | Comment #47 by DENSAN59 Tuesday, December 13, 2011 @ 05:27:34 PM I just blew through the pickpocketing in 25 minutes! This is how I did it: I had on Necklace of Deft Hands (Pickpocket success is 20% better), Ring of Minor Sneaking (Sneaking is 15% better), and the Thieves Guild Boots (Pickpocket success is 15% better.) I only have a skill of 37 in pickpocketing, and I was only about 34 when I started. I had only picked 4 pockets before I started doing this. ent to Whiterun and went to the bar, the inn, the warmaiden, the potion shop, the 2 people selling things in the market, and probably 3 random people around the city and pickpocketed them. I went for all the small things, 8 gold, a lockpick, a key, whatever is small in weight, and took one thing at a time. I saved after every successful pickpocket, and each person had anywhere from 4-9 things |
![]() | Comment #48 by Bozilla96 Tuesday, January 03, 2012 @ 07:04:16 PM ok this achievment is easier than it sounds or atleast seems to be |
![]() | Comment #49 by MINCEMASTER360 Saturday, January 07, 2012 @ 01:25:09 PM You can pickpocket 50 times in under 5 mins with this easy glitch. Goto a shop vendor and sneak up behind him/her then place (yes place!) one single arrow in their pocket and then exit their pocket and repeat. Do this 50 times and its done! All you need is 50 arrows and make sure you only put in one at a time shops are quiet and knowone should see you. |

![]() | Comment #51 by jprice Sunday, January 15, 2012 @ 08:57:30 PM Yeah pickpocketing Mr black briar in Riften is definitely the way to go. Even if you get caught you can continue to pickpocket him. I spent maybe 15 minutes there and got 60 pickpocketing and picked over 1000 pockets |
![]() | Comment #52 by Notsileous Thursday, July 12, 2012 @ 06:07:53 PM the lockpicking part was easy, by the time i did the pickpocket i had enough other perks to make it easy. I made a necklace and ring with grand soul gems and extra effect so i had two items with 40% sneak and 40% pickpocket i could have made more but did not really feel like it. most of everything on people was a 90% chance it took me maybe 30 mins to do it. |
![]() | Comment #53 by gadzookie Sunday, September 09, 2012 @ 04:40:45 PM I don't find enough locks. |
![]() | Comment #54 by themkl Thursday, March 28, 2013 @ 12:07:40 PM Great way to level up. Lots of locks in dwemer ruins. |
