I can only hope that these aren't hidden, much like the books and newspapers from the first game. You saw 'em laying around and ended up reading them anyway.

True 29 Items isn't bad but trying to find them all is a pain.... I try to find and make Achievement/Collectible walkthroughs of games and their Collectibles for Gamers needing Help ! Check out my YouTube (MonsterAchievements) and you will see, i hope this game won't give me much fuss :) i can't wait

It's not too bad, since we're actually rewarded with XP for finding the collectibles instead of just randomly counting towards an achievement.

@14 Could'nt have put it better myself!! Plus, 29 collectables really isnt going to put any of us out of our way by too large of an extent. And you guys are right. The XP rewarded for doing so is an insentive in itself. I like the list. Looks like it will be considerably in depth which is what i kinda wanted from this title.

#12 Well, 200xp per book * 29 books = 5800. So one praxis point.... Still, its not too bad.
#27 In one of the back button menus, I believe there is one for all eBooks you read in each area. I don't know if some books count and others don't (I've stopped actually reading them) but the menu shows all that you have read.

@25 I don't believe there's anywhere where you collect 5 XP ebooks in one room. You may have found 5 ebooks, but my guess is most of them were of the non-XP variety. Which is one of the things that makes this achievement a pain in the butt, a couple hundred ebooks but only 29 unique XP ebooks.
@35 The achievement pops as soon as you "read" the 29th XP ebook, not when the game ends. You may have counted a (or some) non-XP ebooks along the way.
@38 I used a combo of a good youtube walkthrough & a written guide. I'll try to post links to the written guide and part 1 of the video(part 2 is up also):

Just like everyone else, these collectible achievements are not my favorite. Especially the ones that require you to get %100 of them. But at least this one gives you XP and theres only 29 of them...

Thursday, September 22, 2011 @ 11:58:17 AM
If no one likes collectible achivements why in earth games keep having those? Remember alan wake?
and btw. There are dozens of ebooks, but only a few give 200 exp, and those are the ones that count. To make things worse after you have them there is not way to keep track of which one gave you exp and which didn't. They just put 'em all in the same list.

@46 Read all the posts(or at least a few) before posting. There are tons of eBooks scattered around, but only 29 unique eBooks that give you a 200 XP Scholar bonus(all dealing with Hugh Darrow and his speeches/breakthroughs).
@45 If you check out that written guide I referred to earlier, it lists the names of the eBooks(minus a couple) so you can compare and see which ones are missing. If you're missing the ones that it doesn't show the names for, let me know, I marked them down.

This achievement is one heck of a pain. Although I'd trade this for those multiplayer achivements *ANY* day. The ones @ Sarif HQ, you're able to go back for at least twice... just don't miss any of the ones in the Manufacturing plant. The one I missed was under a box in one of the offices, how obscure can you be?

Its just poor design to have collectables in an OPEN world sandbox that can be PERMANENTLY missed. All collectables should have been in areas that can be revisited.
This Achievement guide should have also mentioned the specific areas that can not be revisited.
The icing on the sh!t cake is the fact NONE of the collectibles are saved in your following play through and you are forced to complete the entire game even if you missed only 1 book near the start.
The number and concept of these collectables is not bad, but the implementation is just terrible.
Save yourself some irritation and use this guide to check them off one by one. The guide on this site is a confusing mess and irritatingly vague, its value is limited to a checklist only.
Use this guide and mark them off one by
