Step 1: Easy / Hero Playthrough
Hero difficulty is available from the start. It is highly recommend that you start the game on Hero. During your first playthrough you will unlock a majority of the achievements. Refer to "It's Hero Time" for more details. As you play through the game I suggest using the collectable video below to pick up all Smoothies & Codon Crystals. Also make a use of all alien forms to score 50 kills with of them.

Step 2: Mop Up
After you have completed the game you can now go back and replay any level. To replay a level select continue and then press and choose Level Select. Your last achievement should probably be Open Season. Refer to the description below for more details on how to unlock this. This would be a great time to go back and collect any missing Smoothies or Codon Crystals you missed. Unfortunately there is not a way to view what collectables you are missing within a level. Follow the collectible video below for their location. Also if you are still missing 50 kills with specific alien forms, you can replay 'Training Time', and while fighting the Queen Ant at the end, she will spawn an infinite amount of small ant enemies.

Rook is your partner that helps you through the entire and is really helpful. Rook has five different Proto-Tool functions that will need to be upgraded. Each Proto-Tool requires four level upgrades, each at 2,000 points (8,000 to fully upgrade a Proto-Tool function). You will need a total 40,000 points to fully upgrade all of Rook's Proto-Tool functions.

    • Unarmed
    • Swords
    • Grapple
    • Staff
    • Blaster

You do not need to play in coop to gain points to upgrade Rook. While you are in a level press and go into the Options. Make sure you have Rook Auto-Upgrade is turned ON. Rook will upgrade himself once he has enough points to.

  • Opened 75 Tech Repositories over the course of the game.

This should be your last achievement and it is accumulative. Throughout the course of the game you will not encounter 75 Tech Repositories. This will require you to replay levels after the game is completed in order to open 75 Tech Repositories.

Luckily if you reach a checkpoint and then open a Tech Repositories, you can suicide and open it again & again. Best level to do this in will be level be on 'That Was Then...'. Once you start the level you will have to complete a fight scene. After you have defeated all enemies, continue forward until you reach the end of the dock (where you will have to use Four Arms to climb), you will get a checkpoint here. Instead of climbing, jump forward and there will be two Tech Repositories that you can open. Simply open both Tech Repositories and then suicide into the water. Rinse and repeat until you have opened 75 Tech Repositories.

  • Destroyed 8 crates in a single attack.

The earliest level this can be obtained in is 'Past Due'. Shortly after starting the level you will go through a subway tunnel. After you get through the subway tunnel, a fight scene will be triggered. Once the all enemies have been defeated, you will need to use Feedback to destroy the metal door blocking your path. As soon as you get through, in the hallway there will be 8 crates in a corner. Simply use Feedback or a bigger alien form jump in the air and press to preform a heavy smash attack to destroy all the crates.

If you missed this in 'Past Due', you will have another chance in 'That was then...'. In the beginning of the level you will be in a fight scene. Once you have defeated the enemies continue forward, you will come to the end of the dock (where you will have to use Four Arms to climb). Instead of climbing, jump forward and there will be around 18 crates. Again use a bigger alien form, jump in the air and press to preform a heavy smash attack.

  • Destroyed 150 crates in the game.

This will come with natural progression. As you make it through your playthrough smash every breakable object (ex. creates, market stands, etc) in the area before proceeding forward. In the later levels there will be a lot of crates. This is almost impossible to miss.

If you are playing in coop and your partner smashes a crate, it will still count for the achievement.

  • Performed a 15-hit combo.

    See "35-Hitter" for more details.

  • Performed a 25-hit combo.

    See "35-Hitter" for more details.

  • Performed a 35-hit combo.

This can be done at the beginning of 'Training Time'. You will be in the training/tutorial area with two enemies. Simply spam light attacks with as Ben until you reach a 35-hit or higher combo.

There are plenty of other chances to obtain a 15, 25 & 35-hit combo in the game. Ben would be the best character for this, since Ben is extremely weak it will take a lot more hits to defeat an enemy. You will make to a 35-hit combo with Ben with no problem.

  • Defeated 30 enemies while they were in the air.

Best character to use would be Artiguana with at least level 2 upgrades. This can easily be done in 'That Was Then...', you will come to an in door market area midway through the level, where you will need to use Wild Mutt. In these area there will be an infinite spawn of Ant enemies, as long as you do not complete the main objective. Switch to Artiguna and use his , Frozen Slam combo, this is cause the enemies to be launched into the air. Rinse and repeat until you have kill 30 enemies with this combo.

You can also use Gravattacks , Double Smash combo. Must have at least level 2 upgrade to be able to preform this move.

  • Defeated 20 enemies as Young Ben or Teen Ben (not in alien form).

See "Look, Grandpa--No Aliens!" for more details.

  • Defeated 30 enemies as Young Ben or Teen Ben (not in alien form).

Defeating enemies as Ben can take some time. Reason is because Ben is extremely weak. Obviously Ben is unlocked by default and is already fully upgraded from the start. • Completed an entire level without being defeated and reset.

The safest way to get this is to set the game to easy and load up 'Training Time'. Use Four Arms when you are going against enemies. Be careful when your jumping between gaps and don't stand to close to edges while fighting enemies. If you run out of energy or get knocked out of alien form, run around the area until your energy recharges. If you get a chance to upgrade an alien form, upgrade Four Arms to get stronger and better combos. At the end of the level you will have to fight the Queen Ant, which isn't hard at all. Just avoid any fights while you are controlling Ben and always attack as Four Arms. If you die and restart from checkpoint, you will have to start the level again.

  • Completed the entire game on Hero difficulty.

You can start the game on Hero difficulty from the start. This will minimize you game okay and you can also complete the game 100%. Hero difficulty is not hard at all. Here are a few tips to help you during your Hero playthrough:

    • DO NOT take on enemies as Ben. Ben is extremely weak and can be killed easily in battle.
    • Rook is a great accent. Rook will automatically upgrade himself and will constantly attack the bosses.
    • If you get knocked out of alien form, run around the area until your energy fully recharges.
    • If Rook gets knocked out in battle. It will take around 2-3 seconds for Rook to spawn back. Again if you are playing as Ben run around until Rook Spawn or switch into alien form if you have enough energy.
    • When you are facing big groups of enemies use Gravattack. Hes triple Double Smash combo is very affective.
    • Collecting Smoothies and Codon Crystals will help. As Smoothies increase Ben's and Rooks max health and Codon Crystal increase Ben's and Rooks energy levels.
    • Playing in coop doesn't really affect the game play. Enemies toughness stay the same. Your health and energy goes down the same. Only difference is if Rook defeats and enemy, experience do not get shared.

Overall Hero difficulty is not hard and it is very doable. Also if you played through on easy or normal and start a New Game, you will loose all of Ben's & Rooks upgrades. If played on easy or normal you may replay levels on Hero.
