You have to watch the terribly long intro (I actually made a sandwich) if you screw up once. * You must not get hit by any missiles. Bullets don't seem to mattter * The achievement unlocks when you go down and begin the sequence where you shoot things on the ground. You have to rejoin the formation and suffer through the SAM fire (which is just cutscenes so it doesn't really matter) before it will unlock. My successful run went like this: * Defend against two missiles from the first plane * Lock onto the first plane and watch him shoot flares. * Hold the lock until his shoots hi

Hold the lock. * Wait for him to fire another set of flares. Once you're past them, fire. YMMV, but this sequence worked for me on easy. The timings are totally different on other difficulties. You don't need to do anything with the ground forces - Just the jets. Perfect shots and never getting hit are the key here. If you miss, you MUST RESTART THE MISSION, not the checkpoint. 	Comment #21 by Pb Elements Friday, October 28, 2011 @ 10:54:52 PM for me the video does not work. here is how i did it. i played on easy. there are 6 planes instead of 7 as in some of the videos. first plane fires 2 rockets at you. use flare. when he is in from of u keep locking on him untill he shoots 4 flares. not 2!!!! second plane shoot him straight away when u lock on him. third plane will fly towards you. do not shoot untill he is in front of you again. he will fire 1 flare when in front of you, shoot him after u pass the flares. forth plane shoot straight away when u have him in sight. then ur buddy blows up. and 2 plane is behind you. block 3 rockets with ur flares. fifith plane will fire only 1 flare when you see him in front of you. last one will fire 2 flares when u have him in sight. i dont not know why my pla

I personally only shot down 4 enemy aircraft during the gun run (two before your wingman was shot down and two after). Regardless of where your visor is positioned, you can only really hit the other planes when they are directly (or almost) in front of you. Just keep in mind there might always be someone on your tail (so keep that left trigger finger ready). Good luck and good hunting. The achievement popped when the F/A-18 joined formation with the A-10's and other planes.

Keep in mind that the fourth plane can pop up immediately after the third so be ready to take two quick shots in a row.

Best advice i can give is WAIT before firing each and every time until he fired the flares and only fire when he's directly in front of you and you have past the flares.. TAKE YOUR TIME!

However on the 3rd plane when he gets in front of you he actually fires 2 flares and not 1 When defending from the flares only fire them when you see the missle leaving the enemy jet. Basically your goal is to take out the other planes without missing a single missile and taking damage. 1st plane: Wait until he fires off 4 sets of flares to fire a missile. 2nd plane: Fire as soon as you're able to lock on. 3rd plane: He will go behind you and fire a missile at you,then he will hen pass in front, wait until he shoots of 2 flares to fire at him. 4th plane: Fire as soon as you're able to lock on. Scene of your wing man getting shot down Evade the 3 missiles from the 2 planes behind you. 5th plane: Wait until he fires 1 flare then lock on and shoot him down. 6th and last plane: Wait until he fires off 2 flares then take him down. *Proceed with mission until you are prompte

To set a few things straight though for anyone with any doubt: * You cannot miss with a single missile * You cannot get hit by an enemy missile (the cannon fire is unavoidable) * Missiles are the easiest and quickest way to shoot down the planes if you get the timing right between enemy flares * You cannot restart from the checkpoint if you screw up. You have to exit the level and restart the mission from the main menu * You can skip the interrogation scene, but annoyingly have to deal with watching the dull "interactive" cut scenes * The achievement will pop when you switch to the top-down black and white view

Then he shoots 2 flares out and then after that you hit him with missile. You then proceed to take out both the 2nd and 3rd bogeys as soon as you see them. The 4th bogey will then drop 2 flares and dive down towards the land. Shoot him whilst he is diving and then proceed to take out the 5th bogey as soon as you see him. (cut scene when crazy flying pilot dies after forgetting crazy flying moves seconds before) The last two jets will then send 3 missiles (may be 4) which you then counter with flares. Then proceed to missile the 6th after two flare dumps and the 7th after 2 flare dumps. Then Achievement unlocked :)

On easy I only fought 4 jets: 2 before your wingman gets shot down, 2 after. After he's gone, be careful because the game automatically switches you to missiles for the second pair. During the second pair you'll spend a lot of time on the first enemy. Pay attention to your radar lock warning! This is when everyone gets hit by the ”missile from nowhere.” The guns take longer but you can't screw up if you use them. The videos suck and are almost impossible to sync perfectly. Since timing is everything, I said fuck it. And don't count yourself out Before the bombing run cut scene. It pops awhile after the fight with the jets. Put the difficulty on easy because I only had to shoot down 4 enemies. 2 before and 2 after your fellow F-18 gets shot down. Flare ONLY when you hear the frantic beeping (meaning the missile is on it's way). Use the guns on the first 3 enemies. It seems like the last one has to be shot down with a missile. He dumps 2 flares when you lock. You have quite a while to shoot before he flares again. It was actually quite simple in the end.

I used #21's comment (worked great, btw- vid synchs didn't work for me, even with a perfect sync, something went wrong each time). Interestingly, the last plane dropped an extra set of flares and my last missile did not connect >.< So I switched to machine guns and took him out. Achievement unlocked! I guess you only get one missile for each plane, so maybe if you happen to miss one, finish out on machine guns and you may still get this ridiculous achievement to pop.

	Comment #127 by monkeyboy2283 Monday, April 30, 2012 @ 10:04:59 AM I found this relatively easy, all you need to do is not use missiles and use the cannon to get the kills, you cannot really aim the cannon so you need time it so they are in front of your plane. With the defending you need the subtitles on, your co-pilot will call out when you need to flairs, will say tracking then dump flairs or flairs. When the subtitle for flairs comes on screen push LT and you will never get hit. I was playing this in easy and it takes a bit longer then using missiles but you will not need to keep restarting it, it pops when you join the other planes on the cut seen. Tip – After the mid-level save point it will switch you missiles back on, so you will need to press Y to get your gun back.

Make sure the jets are in front of you when you fire cause you can't aim the machine gun.
