Head in the Cloud Achievement in Assassin's Creed III

  • Head in the Cloud

    20

Find all pivots and sync the Animus to the Cloud.

  • How to unlock Head in the Cloud

After you complete the main story and the credits have rolled, you can get back to your adventure. This achievement requires you to be online for it to work. Hit and you will see a new icon above the regular map. It will give you a short tutorial on how things work. Basically, there are things called pivots that are cheats you can find. They look like the picture below.

On the map in the new icon area, you can place your own pivots. When you place two of them, part of the map shows green. This means a pivot you do not have is somewhere within. To narrow down your search, place a 3rd pivot somewhere in the green. A good tactic is to guess somewhere in the middle and place your pivot. When you get a green triangle, go in the middle, remove another pivot, and place one in that spot (you can only place pivots on yourself).

It does take some getting used to but after one or two you will get the hang of it and it's extremely easy. You can knock this achievement out in an hour or so. There are a total of 10 pivots. Once you have obtained them all, pull the menu up and go into the pivot sub menu and things will sync and the achievement will unlock.

  • THE CLOUD!!!
  • okay this ones gonna be confusing
  • confusing? i cant understand anything of that
  • I never understood these either can someone explain?
  • in between sequences you go out of the animus. go roam the cave and talk to people. i'm not at the end yet, but every time you unlock a bit more of the cave and the story of the earth's ancestors. i guess at the end, ehmm.. you go into a cloud.. lol
  • or cloud like online storage. a server. put the animus data you've collected online. or i could be wrong. pivots? /shrug
  • After the ending and the epilogue missions you unlock kind of a minigame in which you have to locate 9 pivots. (You start with 3)After you find the last one you have to go back in the menu part dedicated to the pivots and after a small monolog the achievement will unlock.
  • Is this missable though?
  • Yes.
  • This sheds some light on this achievement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zuWR6fw9AMs
  • put down 2 pivots. the green area is where the pivot ur searching for is located. when u have more than 3 u can narrow the area by making a triangle in the area shaded green.
  • u find pivots to unlock the in-game cheats. before any1 asks turning on will turn off saving and most likely achievements.
  • some1 placed a pivot right where 2 elk fight! it won't spawn. the 1 time it did it wouldn't let me pick it up. no more pivots r spawning for me. great way for some1 to screw the achievement up :(
  • turns out there was a cave behind the waterfall further down that went right under the river and lake. clever git
  • once you complete the game and are given the pivot tutorial you palce your pivots down to locate pivots that other players of AC3 put down to track other pivots, the pivots themselves are stationary for a short time and it is like a race to find them as they are only there for 15 mins at a time then they move to a new location or when found by another player, i eventualy found them all but it took hours each pivot unlocks a cheat that can be used accessable from the options menu. (and no i'm not sure if it disables achievements but it does disable saving while using them)
  • f this hard as shit not worth the frustration
  • Weird description. I finished the game (main story line not the side stuff) last week and went through the credits and still don't understand what these pivots are all about or what they're doing in the game besides just being random "collect 'ems"
  • Ah, I messed up and now I can't get the achievement. as i was collecting the pivots I turned on each cheat as i unlocked them. In the end when I had them all i synced but didn't get the achievement and there is no way to reset it as far as i know. this sucks!!
  • well, once you understand the principle of the thing, takes like 3 minutes to find one then you have to wait more then 10 minutes before they place a new one for you to search, that is the annoying part. check #10 video, it helps a little if you are still in the dark on how to do this.
  • @18 it says it won't save when cheats are activated, so couldn't you just turn the cheats off ? @15 to stop other players placing the pivots couldn't you do this offline? Or does it have to be online?
  • Man, I tired so many times now: turn of Hacks, exit the game, restart. But I'm still in already synched mode with no achievement poppin up. this kinda eats me up from the inside XD
  • one possible solution for you #21, restart a whole new game, you'll have to do it all again but that should allow you to get this achievo... however, this is a major pain for 20g and i am not sure it would actually work.
  • lol, I even removed my whole save file. problem is it appears to be connected to your profile since I started a completly new game without any old save file and the pivot info is still there and already synced. this just sux. appearently I'm forever stucked in not getting it then. -.-'
  • Ok, I'm confused, didn't realize other people could place your pivots. What I did was as soon as the mini game started, went to each of the maps and picked up the ones that were shown on the map. then i started with boston and started planting them throughout to triangulate the ones that were still needing to be found. Once you get all for a certain map, pick them up and move onto next map, rinse repeat, voila. Took a little over an hour of running around.
  • Someone was thinking outside the box when they decided on the name of this achievement lol
  • not sure if you guys didn't watch the last voice log or cut scene of someone talking after you got them all >_> all you need to do is open the map and go to pivot > list of it and same guy talks for 4 secs and you get it
  • just make sure make a perimeter with the pivots you have then just keep making the perimeter smaller until you close in on the one your looking for.
  • Finally got it. But does anyone know if there's anything more to this achievo? Like the code you get
  • My theory to the "cloud": At the end, you hear the people say, "I've done it, i've finally hacked the animus" or something similar to that. My guess is it's Erudito, the company that Abstergo was talking about in the multiplayer hacked files from AC Revelations. They finally found a way to hack the animus and reveal the "truth" to everyone. I'm guessing that maybe in the future AC series, you team up with Erudito to hopefully take down Juno/Templars.
  • Simple and easy achievo once you get the hang of using the pivots to triangulate the smallest location as possible. Place one at the bottom and one at the top, then continue to make it smaller
  • basically what the 'hacks' do is stop all progress from saving until you turn them off which then redirects you to the last point in which you auto saved
  • This took me about three and a half hours to do. When you get close enough to the pivots a little icon will show up and let you know exactly where it is on the map. Good luck to everyone, you're gunna need it lol
  • I got all the pivot points, but didn't get the cheevo. someone needs to have a talk with ubisoft about this problem. My personal message to ubisoft is, fix these problem or say good-bye to my money being spent on their games. simple as that......
  • after restart and back to synch menu, re-synched, cheevo popped.
  • Man I bet Ubisoft was worried about losing some hothead's money too...
  • Same happened to me. Just shows that even when you are offered hacks, you shouldn't use them lol.
  • @33 look at comment#7
  • This achievement is stupid, you'd think since there's an achievement for getting all the pivots, that you could go and use the cheats they give you to 100% the game, but everybody I've been asking is telling me you can't use the cheats to get the Perfectionist achievement. This is so stupid...
  • The Cloud is the Abstergo network, meaning that playing as Connor after Desmond dies (or gets knocked unconscious, whatever your take on it is) means you're playing as an Abstergo worker attempting to get Connor's - and probably Desmond's and his other ancestor's - DNA for the templars, eventually? succeeding in that when you connect to the Cloud.
  • I've got 6 from Boston and I picked them all up. Does this mean that other people can still place them places around Boston or what. I'm confused.
  • Holy Jesus, #10 That video made things a lot clearer! Thanks!
  • Hey guys its real easy to get the achievement i just barely got right now and im wondering who was the guy talking and what does this have to do with Vegas and clouds?
  • Anyone know if you need to have the Uplay Passport enabled to get this, or if you simply need to have an Xbox live account?
  • I don't get this achievement. I don't understand how to collect these pivots
  • This achievement was probably one of the easiest achievements to get. You start with a few pivots, place down two (you can only place down pivots where Connor is positioned on the map), a part of the map will be shaded green indicating the location of another pivot, use the third and additional pivots you shrink the search zone. You don't have to be at your placed pivot to pick it up, so you can pick and place the pivots until your search zone is so minimal only a noob could miss it.
  • Lol #45 u said it I just finished the game got every achievo except online this one only took a couple of min to figure out after that just look inside the green area and place more of them to make the green area smaller then bam it pops
  • Very easy. I suggest leaving this till last as you find most while doing other missions. I only had 3 to find. Took about 30 mins
  • for those that didnt get the achievement because you activated hacks while finding them, exit the game back to xbox home, restart it and when you open your save file, it will say all the pivot points that you unlocked. go back to the map and select the pivots section and wait till the dialog replays. it should unlock then.
  • Thank you #48, that totally worked. For anyone having a problem getting this one to unlock, follow those instructions. Worked like a charm.
  • That is really stupid, they aren't thinking enough about achievements
  • if you people don't understand how this works You don't deserve to breath anymore. it's so painfully Simple
  • @swishestshoe; where does it state all my opened pivot points? when I'm at the loading/save file screen all I have is "BOSTON; 100%; date, time; Hours played. I would do the whole pivot thing again but I can't. even when you start a whole new game you are in already synced mode. Ubisoft customer service is the worse. they don't even answer your Q. They just label it as solved-.-'
  • This is EASY! I actually love this achievement. So much fun. :)
  • This achievement sucks and is a pain in the arse.
  • lol really? i found this to be very easy. ADB will update you with the location they're in when they are available to find (Boston, NY, Frontier) then just use your fast travel points to get around quickly triangulating on its location. I did this in less that 4 hours
  • do u need xbox live for this one?
  • How the hell do you plant a pivot? My xbox won't let me and I'm online?
  • Actually, once I figured out that it's just a game of triangulation, it was easy, even in the Frontier, although there were one or two times where it happened to be right there at the Fast Travel station that I just happened to choose. After a few of these, it got significantly easier to figure out how to narrow the search area quickly. @57: Just go to a spot on the map, then go to the Pivot map (not the regular map) and it will let you place it. I found the easiest way is to try to form a triangle using three separate Fast Travel stations to make the suspected area smaller and smaller. Fortunately, you can pick up pivots that you placed from the Pivot map. You don't have to go back to that location to pick up ones that you dropped.
  • @14 Thanks. Never would've got that. Maybe... would've taken well over a month for me to realize, though.
  • I haven't been able to get the last 2 that I need for this one. Is it possible that there is a glitch when trying to get this achievement?
  • I'm glad I read this before attempting.
  • so fuckin easy
  • some idiot put my last one in the air out of my reach. is there a way to get it to appear somewhere else or am i just done for?
  • This may sound silly but i did not even try and just did some stuff for the challenges between the cities and the frontier and basicly stumbled on those pivots by running around in the end the achievement popped up without me knowing i actualy already collected them all.
  • Just a quik tip for those having problems, i not even placed any pivots i just basicly picked them up while i was doing work on my challenges. Basicly you just not even need to place those pivots you pick one up and another one abit later, i not even tried and got it so for all you don,t need to place them just take your time and explore it tells you if there is a pivot nearby.
  • Is this genuinely secrete or another , "dont know untill you play"
  • Anybody knows how to get this 1 ?
  • oooohhhhh mmmmmyyyyy gggggoooooddddd this is fucking stupid!
  • I figured it out. But I'm not too happy about it.
  • Can you do the pivot challenge again? Or can you only do it once per account?
  • yay floating pivot that I can not reach no matter what...broken ass game...
  • lol, found like 3 by accident... good guides here tho
  • Pivots were a series of virus-generated code segments found within the Animus, which were mainly used to hack into the virtual machine's core programming, allowing a user to upload their own Animus sessions of Ratonhnhaké:ton's genetic memories, as well as synchronizing them to the "Cloud". In late 2012, an Abstergo Industries engineer used a worm virus to hack the Animus 3.0, allowing for the upload of Desmond Miles' genetic memories to Abstergo's servers. However, the virus failed, resulting in two pivots located in the already rendered city of Boston. The user then had to locate the other ten pivots by triangulating the rest, through using the pivots they had collected to pinpoint others. After collecting all twelve pivots, Desmond's genetic memories were successfully uploaded t
  • to the Cloud, allowing multiple Abstergo employees to access them, specifically the memories of Edward Kenway during the Golden Age of Piracy. This might make some sense :D
  • Thanks a lot DavidMszrs that really helped me to know the background to it. :-D
  • I love these pivots, after you get a few, then the rest are really easy to get, because they are from what other people have placed. For example at one point I just used one of the fast travels, and I literally landed right in the middle of one of them, I just had to jump to get it, also I was really happy, because it was my last one. :-D
  • To complete this achievement, you have you plant collected pivots (those blue horse things randomly floating in the air) near other pivots you found to reveal a green area on the map where the pit is located. You will start with two planted pivots and another pivot to plant. You can plant that pivot anywhere and experiment by placing it then picking it up to find the next pivot. Use collected pivots to unveil the others and complete the cheevo.
  • Seems I've encountered yet another glitch in the game, big suprise. The last pivot (one located in SW New York) seems to be located inside of a building. When next to the building, I can see the little "spark" that come from the pivot. Plus I can see the pivot on the map. I just can't see the pivot in the game (or actually grab it for that matter). Even more annoying that its the very last pivot too...
  • This is BS There's a pivot Lambda in New York on the east by the harbor, I have it narrowed down to the smallest green area possible and it's nowhere to be found. I can't believe this crap
  • @78 I think I have the exact same unreachable pivot. Is it in a wall behind a "Start Riot" group? I played for seven hours trying to glitch into the wall, with no success. Mindblowing that Ubi would not see the obvious potential for this system to be abused by trolls.
  • very easy and straightforward, took about 15 minutes to get them all.
  • I have the same problem as Raenahin. Unreachable pivot in SW New York inside a building near a riot group. Frustrating.
  • @78 and @82: FYI I put in a ticket with Ubisoft support, and got the expected "known glitch that we're working on for a future (undated) patch)". So, unless someone out there is good enough to glitch the game and somehow get our pivot (which would reset it for us), I'd put money that we've been screwed out this achievement.
  • @79 Try looking on the ships thats where I found mine
  • Did not get the achievement. Found all the pivots, went to the menu and sync'd to the cloud. Shows that "Jaymo Kurr is synchronized with the Cloud." Still no achievement. Any info would be helpful and appreciated!
  • I hope I won't get kicked in the nuts for this but here goes: I finished the game, went back to get everything 100% and left over achievements. I maybe stumbled upon two-three at the most of these pivots. Anyway after i got the completionist, I simply went to the pivot section in the pause menu, it connected to server and the 20G popped. I didn't do a single thing the guide mentioned, so wtf?
  • This was actually suprising easy to do, got them all in about 30 minutes. Tactical pivot placing is the key!
  • I too am stuck on the last pivot point in NY that is inside a building near a riot. Has there been any known fix or workaround for this yet. What a stupid idea to rely on other players to set points for me. How did Ubisoft not think this would get messed with. Was this whole pivot point nonsense really necessary anyway.
  • @88 I had the same problem as well, I went looking for your problem on YouTube and I found someone that has it... and a solution that works. 1. Place all pivots in a circle pattern around the glitched pivot. 2. While in the game, sign out through the home button. 3. Sign back in. This should force the Ubisoft server to re-synch. 4. The pivot should be moved to the frontier and you can get it there. Select the missing pivot from the menu and see if it worked. Don't forget to pick up your placed pivots. I watched the video of him doing it and it worked. It was on a PS3, but it should do the same on the 360. Hope that helps. (The video was about 10 minutes long so this is the short version)
  • This is to VERIFY that StarscreamJesus' workaround actually works. I had the NY pivot glitch for the past six months. I did EXACTLY what he posted, and Pivot Sigma was waiting for me in the Frontier. Finally, 100% in ACIII!!! Thanks StarscreamJesus!
  • @89 and @90 I have the same problem with Pivot Sigma in NY (inside a building, near a riot group). I tried to do what the video/ walkaround says... but for some reason, it´s not working for me. - I place my 11 Pivots around the glitched one (no more Pivots left to place). - I sign out and in again through the home button (the game starts all over again, at least in my case that´s what it does. - After reentering the game, nothing has changed. I´m quite p... o... right now... this is the last trophy left for me and I don´t thinks this is going to work... Am I doing something wrong? Thx for any answers.
  • @91: When you sign back into the game from the home button, do you also go into the game menu to resign into the Ubisoft servers? I'm pretty sure that you have to do this to "push" the resynch of the pivot. I'll be honest, I was very skeptical that this workaround would work, but it did in my case. Best of luck to you.
  • I'm in the exact same situation as @91. Is there some way to log out without resetting the game that I'm unaware of? When I just turn my router on/off and then reconnect to the Ubisoft servers, the pivot location is unchanged.
  • Ok, as an addendum to my previous post, I continued trying the above method a few more times last night, then quit in frustration. When I opened AC3 this morning, most of the other 11 pivots I had planted in a circle were back in my inventory but, more importantly, the glitched pivot had mysteriously moved to another NY location, along the west side near some decrepit buildings, where it was accessible. So... I'm happy that I was able to complete the game, confused as to why the pivot changed so quickly when some people reported experiencing the glitch for 6-12 months, and still pissed at Ubisoft for making such a buggy game that isn't even as fun to play as the others in the series. Wish I could offer more specifics, but that's all I've got for now.
  • Does anyone know if I can get this with a Silver account? Do I just have to be connected to Live, or do I actually need a Gold account?
  • the first thing i did in this game was completing online thining i'd be getting 1000g easy. Well... was i wrong this game is hella hard
  • this achievement makes absolutely no sense
