Was there a debug code to unlock the achievements for the PC version of Fallout 3?

Are there any other games you can do this for rogue?

no. Fallout 3 is the only LIVE game with a debug console which would be the only way to do this. in the rest of the games cheats either disable all or just certain achievements.
Trainers and mods never disable achievements though unless you have to disable LIVE for it. |

This is the only pc game I know of or heard of giving you the option to do this.

Take it this is not consider cheating and will cause gamerscore to be removed?
Either way if I end up getting Fallout on PC I'll go though and unlock most anyways

Both of you are correct. The PC game ships with an in-game console option accessed by the tilde (~) that lets you manipulate a variety of things in the game. The "addachievement" command is accessible through there, and since the developer shipped the game with that enabled, it is not cheating and does not set you up to have your gamerscore reset, etc.

Even though I can see people using this to get achievements, I disagree with it. Seriously play the game all the way through, and earn the achievements yourselves. It's really a great game and you will have much fun doing it.

Certain mods that require the Fallout Script Extender will disable achievements because in order for FOSE to work you have to disable LIVE. but any normal mod will work perfectly. And technically this is cheating but not the kind of cheating that MS will ban you for or remove your gamerscore because it is built into the game. that and there is ABSOLUTELY no way to tell. other than someone got all the achievements in a half an hour lol. @FlyingSMonster: your very right and i agree with you. but a lot of people are getting the PC version just for the extra 1000 and if they already beat it ligit on the 360 they rather do it this way. |

Anyone want to assume that this will work with all future DLC for the PC version? I think I'll pick the game up just for this and trade it in on RE5 when I'm finished.

I didn't buy the DLC for the PC version but I was able to pop those achievements anyway so it should be good for the upcoming DLC as well.
Also, I'm playing legit on the 360 anyway, so it's not as if I'm cheating myself out of the experience. Hell, I paid 60 bucks for it. But then again, I won't knock a person for doing what they want; if you got the money, do what you want with it. (Provided it's within ToS of course.) |

@Z3Ro S1x: yes it will work for all the DLC. just put in the number of the achievement. THough just so you know you can't trade in PC games anywhere (at least not in the US)

What Neok said, you cannot trade in PC Games, as they have CD Keys. Anyone could write down the cd key, burn a copy of the game and have the game with CD key and trade it in.

Yes PC version only. you should buy it for more than that. the PC version also has a few thousand free mods out for it.

That is annoying indeed, someone on Ebay will buy it though, even if the key is used.

very very true. they keys can be used more than once though and since fallout has no online it's fine.
Now if you were trying to sell say Red Alert 3 which is limited to 5 installs and once you register the key no one can use it online aside from you. so there you'd be screwed if you bought it used. |

if you already bought it for the xbox 360 you will have to buy it again but if you don't want to and just want the achievements you can just use the cheat codes to get the 4 achievements. |

I love Fallout 3 so much I am going to buy it for PC to playthrough a 2nd time. Good to know I can do this for the achievements if I want to though. Plus hearing about how many mods there are makes me really want to play it again.

Its crazy that it takes 60+ hours to get this on the 360 version and can be done in 60 seconds on the PC. Can't believe Bethesda let the game go out like this but I suppose I shouldn't be complaining! I was gona get this game anyway for the PC just as something to do whenever I'm bored and not around the Xbox or whatever. Don't think I'll use this little snippet of information but might for some of the more cumbersome achievements, like just play the game through Evil and then get all the other Karma achievements this way!
