I also assume it's an international thing (Amazon.ca isn't doing it, though CPaladino on Microsoft's Gamerscore blog said it is indeed international).

The gamestop I pre-ordered from said they didn't have the codes in so they couldn't give it to me yet. They told me I would get it when I picked up the actual game.

The codes will likely float on the internet soon enough afterwards. Look at the Grid Racedriver exclusive cars codes now available to anyone.

Obviously its just a sales drive for the retailers involved.

But I agree there is a lack of news for UK/Europe on these types of things. A pretty safe bet would likely be Game, Play.com and Amazon.

I think a successful method for implementing these codes would be randomized number/letter sets that, when used, would be rendered useless afterwards.

I assume the GRID ones didn't become useless after their initial use?

No offense to Gamestop employees but Im getting pissed with certain gamestop employee who don't have a clue about preorder stuff. There is one by my house that is TERRIBLE! He just plays the "i dont know" card everytime. I asked him about the Too Human armors and he just stared at me. Same with Fable II about the pub games. Plus he hoed me out on my free soul calibur keychain...not that it wasnt going to end up in a shoe box somewhere...but still!!!
Another thing is this guy always tells me the wrong price for trade-ins. I asked him what COD4 was going for and he said $20. I went to a diff gamestop and they gave me $30!! I HATE HIM!! I have learned to buy new games off of amazon (NO TAXES!!) and used games off of Ebay. Gamestop is still good for their occasional buy 2 get 1 free and using the edge card on those. Ok Im done. Sorry.

Does anybody know if these five exclusive armor sets will add substantial benefits to each class since it is one armor set per class. Cuz I was thinking maybe they will benefit skills in some way.

If you ask during pickup most retailers will give you the preorder items if asked or will give you other cool freebies if they don't, which can sometimes prove to be better than the original freebie you were going to get.

Microsoft also states that Gamestation will provide this little bonus, so us UK gamers can get it from 2 different companies... even though Gamestation are twats lol.

But yeh, your right dude, it sucks that we have to wait til the 29th... START RELEASING GAMES AT THE SAME TIMES LIKE HALO 3 AND GTA IV!!! (In that case though, UK gets games around 6 hours earlier because of the timezone).
