Does anyone think Alone in the Dark is good?

I got the game, i know its old, i think some parts are good, like the driving part, and some parts suck, like limited inventory, it also seems like a game, that can be easy achieved 1000g

I hated it, I have heard people say they enjoyed it though. It may be an easy 1000 but it's boring as hell.

i've wanted to play that game and only because i talked to someone on a hint and cheat hotline who said he was playing it. but shouldn't this thread belong in the dedicated forum for the game?

i think one thing that makes the game so annoying is all the obvious puzzles, when you first play the game its not so obvious though, it confuses the hell out of you.


the main thing bout the game that makes achievements so easy, is all the random things you can put together for easy 5 -10gs

I like the cutscenes in the game. Thats all really. The game scares me. Im on episode 5 out of 8.

I've not actually got round to finishing it, nowhere near really, but my main gripe with the game is the camera angles the game forces on you. It's decent, what I had played of it, without forcing awkward angles down your throat, it could have been better.

I actually really like Alone in the Dark. I own it. I bought the Collectors Edition. I remember reading the reviews but the screenshots and videos really intrigued me. None the less, I ended up buying it and couldn't understand the bad critics. I have not been one to follow ratings because there have been some really good low rated games and yet I've disliked a lot of high rated games so it's best to use your own judgement. I still haven't finished Alone in the Dark, it's on my to do list. :P

Yeah I didn't mind it, I only bought it because I picked up the Special Edition really cheap, I didn't play it for a while as I had heard bad things about it but I thought it was decent.

I do give it credit for trying to have the scenimatic feel but it just feels so poorly done! That and the taxi cab escape in Questions.....hated that part so much

This game is very underrated IMO. I thoroughly enjoyed getting the 1k on this game. It had decent graphics, pretty cool cinematics, and overall good voice acting. I also loved that you could switch between Third Person and First Person whenever you felt like it.

My main gripes with the game were the horrible driving sequences (especially the second sequence with the bats) and the questionable inventory system. Once you get used to the inventory system though, the game becomes that much more enjoyable.

Anybody that's played this game and thinks it's the worst game on the 360 obviously haven't played games like Shellshock 2, Frontlines: Fuel Of War, or Damnation.

I've played it through on 360 and PS3 and Inferno improves it alot. The controls/glitches can be a pain, especially on the driving but I really enjoyed the storyline and the monsters. If they could improve the controls I'd be happy for them to make another.

Wouldn't mind a remake of the original.

Driving could have been a bit smoother and I wish that when I switched to first person it would stay in first person instead of deciding it wants to switch to third person for no reason. This handyman achievement is kind of a pain. Other than that I didn't hate it.

It is good, the game is scary, i got scared from the start to end i was always armed to the teeth. Eventually i banked 1,000G. Good game.

I got it for 1 Swedish krona, that's about 15 cents. Hopefully it's good, but at that price, I wouldn't mind if it was bad.

Not at all. Most of the game was boring as hell, though there were some refreshing ideas, like the combining system.

I think it's a good game for getting 1000G easily but not too easily, i played it for about 2 weeks sraight after getting it to complete it and the different things to combine make it more interesting.


And the fire physics are AMAZING!!

This is officially by far one of the worst games I have every played. I honestly can not see how so many people on this thread like it. The controls are terrible and the camera angles are worse. Driving a car is impossible and the taxi escape on Questions is stupid hard. I truly hope everyone involved in this lost their job. If I were a developer and someone put "I worked on Alone In The Dark" on their resume I would put it through the shredder and tell them they have no future in the industry. I have played some really bad games and apparently I am gonna have to look through the comments threads before I actually rent anymore. Games like this make me want to stop playing xbox all together. I am going to finish it - I'm just going to hate myself the entire time.

I ended up liking the game when i resumed it after a short break (at first i thought it was the worst game ever and shelved it) and got used to the controls. Liked the atmospehere of the game and that combining system. I have to admit that i probably would not have had such a good time with the game if i didn't look up things from guides.

I also had extremely frustrating time with the first driving sequence wish i had known about the cockpit view. It was so much easier when i did it for the achievement with that.

Good is not the right word for this game. Its just way to broken. I manadged to enjoy it, simply cause I expected it to be total crap. Expectations can realy determine if you like something or not. This game is a perfect example of that. I have no problem see why so many cant stand it.

Well, it was easy to net the 1000 and it could have been a great game, if they would have put more effort in the developing of the game. There were a few great ideas in "Alone in the Dark", like the inventory, and the combining of items. But the controls and the countless glitches took a lot of fun out of the game. It could have been that much better without the numerous mistakes, and pointless parts that felt like they were only there to annoy the player. (Driving sequences, the f***ing goo...) All in all it's just an average game that had great potential, which sadly wasn't used.

Yes, i like it! It's good or bad, but for me is survival horror game with realy good ideas and problems and errors which can be ignored. I enjoy that game and feel sad that no more Alone in the Dark after this installment.
