Not sure where to put this, but I'm looking for local Achievement traders (for local multiplayer only things like guitar hero II co-op or others). There used to be this place in Maine (since moved) where you pay like, $4 an hour (2 hours? don't remember) to play at this LAN center. It had huge tvs and you can bring your 360 hard drives/cards in and play whatever on these big leather couches. I remember the owner had a bunch of GH controllers in back, as well as a couple of games. People used to come in all the time and play/hang out/play in tournaments/grab a bite to eat/read comics/watch old 90's cartoon episodes/all that nerd stuff.
Does anyone know of any places like that in the Boston/Worcester area (or any area for that matter)? Where local x360a'ers can meet and play in person and chill? Gamers really need to get out of the house sometimes to blow the stink off them.
SAFETY NOTICE -
I do NOT recommend x360a'ers going to each other's houses at all. ESPECIALLY if they are under 18. You don't know this person personally--they could be dangerous or deranged. It's an invite to trouble and creepiness (see "I met him on the internet" 101). Keep it public (like LAN centers or Game Havens) where they are plenty of people and supervisory figures (managers who kick out "ruckus-makers").
Its a good idea, Id love to finally 1000 GH2 but away up where I am in Scotland, I dont know where any of these places are, or if there is any up here. Theres not many Scottish people on x360a anyways, so thats me out.
so what this thread is about is that this guy wants to pay money for someone to fly out and help him with the achievements on games hes not good at? better make it $800/hour if u want to make up for the plane tickets..im soo confussed???..
Don't meet up with JDM however much he asks you he will just abduct you and your x360 then he will pimp you both. You have been warned ^^
oh i lol'd hard.
also i dont see why people would need to do this, co op can usualy be done online, and getting someone to do your single player seems like a profile swap, with out the swap
In my area he's the only person I can meet that I know. Who's up for hooters in San Francisco jennz4 and myself are up for wings, pitchers of beer and tata's.

Yeah, the only place even remotely close to an arcade/type place is Dave and Busters in providence...a half hour drive from where I am. The closest gaming thing I did in Boston was going to the boston postmortem. It's a gathering at the Skellig (in Waltham) a bunch of Boston-area developers go to for drinks and present a "topic of the month". Last month, Demiurge Studios talked about the porting Brothers in Arms to the Wii (Then 2 days later, their website announced they were porting Mass Effect to the PC) . Off topic, but it was fun to hang out with a group of like-minded people (game developers). Boston Post-mortem and 2600 barnes n noble/HOPE confrences and even traditional cons (Quakecon, Digital Overload) are always a huge blast. Maybe x360a'ers can yield the same results in thier own gathering(s).
The point of the thread is to get people together and out of their caves. After all, would you rather:
A.) Stay in your room all night EVERY night trying to land Seriously or Lost Planet's Extreme mode or some other awful achievement.
or
B.) Go out here and there and start making real friends and having a decent bit of social fun (co-op/comp gaming optional)?
Well most of the people on my friends list i actually play with are good mates that i know from highschool / college really. I play with gigamonks mostly as we were best mates before xboxing, decided to get into gaming and now we're having as much fun on xbox as we do hanging out really It'd be cool though to have a massive x360a party where everyones invited
i'm pretty sure most of us have other friends outside of gaming. well atleast i do.
i can also tell you that out of the 94 friends on xbl i have, half of them are friends i know in real life that live in south philly.
Lucky you, but some of us dont know people close by who own 360's. I only know maybe 5 people that own them that I talk to offline. And they are not interested in games I play, such as Guitar Hero
man i wish i was in frisco, you footing the bill at the hooters and all!
as to the OP, are you talking about that place in Augusta? heh back in the day i played Magic up there a couple of times...if it is the same place. it wasn't so much video games back then.
but cool initiative, it's nice for people to meet offline and see the person behind the handle...although sometimes you'd wish you haven't, as in my case

Nah, this place is new...went up in July of '07 (I left the state that August, but still had a lot of fun). See the link in my last post for the place. BTW, ever go to Zimmies in Lewiston for their Magic tourneys? Awesome comic shop.
and Santa, fyi, all my friends live far, faaar away or don't play games. Everyone's RL friends are different. I just thought it would be cool to do what those cali dudes are doing and contemplate an unofficial x360a hooters gathering. If this sort of thing isn't for you, or you feel you have enough friends, that's cool for you.
In any event, this thread is serving its purpose to get x360a'ers out and about. Anything more than one group is success plus.
Yea, i wouldn't mind meeting some people on my live friends list in real life, but i'm sure as hell not going to go through the hassle of having them fly out her. I think it's ok though if there on a business trip or vacation and are in the area. Other then that, having random people from this site who live in SJ come to my house, eat my food, and play GH with me is just weird. It just doesn't settle well.

I bet if I walked into your house, play your 360, open your fridge, and made a sandwich on your counter...you would let me without saying a word.
We don't live that far away, ya know?
