console is too hot. Power down for a while. Check sufficient ventilation.
Verify the cooling fan is working. If the two lights continue to flash red
after you tried the solutions, contact Xbox Customer Service. If the agent
cannot help you resolve this issue, you will have to return the console to
Microsoft for repair.

\ /Two green lights flash on the Ring of Light: Falcon revision XB360. The error is unknown. The green lights flash on the left two, then change to the right side. After a sequence, they then flash on the top two, then bottom two. The sequence repeats.

\ /Three red lights flash on the Ring of Light: Hardware failure. Restart
the console. Contact Xbox Customer Service if the problem is not
resolved. If the agent cannot help you resolve this issue, you will have to

The specific type of hardware failure can be determined by a "hidden" error code
THIS WILL HELP YOU FIND OUT IF YOU NEED SOME DOWN TIME OR A NEW 360!!!
* Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
* Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
* The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
* Release the eject button and press it again.
* The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.

You should be able to determine the difference between the 3 flashing lights and the error code lights by the rate in which they flash.

Here is how you interpret the LEDs to get the code number:

* All four lights flashing - 0
* One light flashing - 1
* Two Lights flashing - 2
* Three lights flashing - 3

0001 Short circuit in the console/faulty PSU
0002 power supply problem
0003 Power problem could be the PSU could be the GPU/CPU, somehow the console isn't getting clean power from the power supply.
0010 over heating - There is a problem with the Southbridge Chip, usually dealing with how it connects to the mainboard (cold solder joint/bridged solder joints)
0011 over heating - If you are receiving this error after disassembling your console make sure all 8 of the heatsink screws are tightened securely to the board/heatsink holes.
0012 over heating
0013 over heating
0020 Bridged solderjoint/Short - CPU/GPU/RAM
0021 DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash.
0022 GPU Error / GPU Overheating
0102 GPU Memory Error.
0110 Memory Error / Memory Overheating. Except the repair for GPU memory.
0203 GPU related - resistors
1003 Hard Drive Error. It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it
1010 Hard Drive Error, Can be caused buy a corrupt or missing eProm.
1013 (unknown) possibly a dashboard update error.
1022 AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. (could also be a problem with the encoder chip)
1023 DVD drive not connected, connect DVD drive to boot.
1030 (unknown)

\ /Four lights flash red on the Ring of Light: The A/V cable is not
correctly connected to the Xbox 360 console. The cable is not being
detected by the console. Verify proper installation of the A/V Cable. This
error will not occur if the cable is improperly plugged into a TV or VCR. Try
another cable. If the four red lights continue to flash after you follow these
troubleshooting steps, the Xbox 360 console may have to be repaired.
Contact Xbox Customer Service.

Four lights flashing on wired controller: A wire in the USB cable is broke
or something inside the controller is bad. It does have power, but one of
the data wires are bad, or the ground is shorting to a data wire. It can
be a combination of any of those, but power is present. REPAIR? YES!
You can take any USB cable and splice it into the Xbox360 controller, or
replace the cable by cutting the original cable 4 to 5 inches from the
controller, and splice in a USB cable. There are only four wires to connect,
and they are color coordinated.

Error Number & Possible Solutions:
57 - White Checkered Block patterns going horizontally across the screen - Overheating
64 - Bad DVD flash/ dead flash chip
65 - DVD Drive Error - Wrong firmware - No firmware - Bad firmware - drive door not closed on boot
66 - DVD Drive Version/Firmware Version Check Fail. The DVD drive or firmware does not match what is stored on the console & expected by dashboard - (FALL06 UPDATE) - an attempt to counteract some modding.
67 - Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it
68 - HDD Error (See 67)
69 - HDD Error (See 67)
71 - DVD Drive Error (FALL06 UPDATE) - Not exactly sure the cause, but was fixed within 12-24 hours of the FALL96 update. Possibly a dashboard update error, Check below in the "Console Reset Codes" for instructions. If that does not work there is no other solution and the console must be sent back to MS for repair.
73 - General Hardware Error: Ethernet port... this error is caused by a problem with the Ethernet port.
74 - A/V Cable - Check plugged in - try another one. There is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU.
76 - Dead network chip
77 - Dead network chip
79 - Blocked Lines going vertical down screen - Overheating - HDD Failure/Error during I/O

If you suspect a HDD problem, in all cases, remove the HDD and boot the
Xbox 360. If it works or runs fine without it, the HDD is defective.
Removing the HDD also puts less stress on the power supply and may only
temporarily remedy the problem.

The power supplies and CPU overheating are are the cause of 75% of the
problems listed above for the release day XBox 360s. If you suspect a
power supply, and you have or know of a console that is not giving errors
or other problems like described above; swap power supplies. If the other
console fails with your power supply and yours now works - Defective
Power Supply.

Make sure the power supply is not on carpeting, or anything that would
block or obstruct the venting of the power supply.

Clear All Installed Game Updates and Console Cache

1. Go to the "system" blade
2. Select "memory"
3. Press Y on the HD symbol
4. Press X,X, Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X
5. A message will appear saying: "Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices?"
6. Select Yes

Clear Any Failed system updates that cause the console to error.

1. With the console off, press and hold the sync up button (the small white one)
2. While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on the console
3. Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up completely.
4. During the boot process the console should clear any failed updates, allowing you to use it normally.

POWER SUPPLY:
The power supply light is orange: This means the PSU is in standby, and the Xbox is powered off. With that in mind; if the power supply light is orange and the console will not turn on, there may be a problem with the
console. It can be the plug, cable, or just an internal problem with the Xbox360.

Power supply light is red: A fault has been detected in the external power supply. The PSU may have overheated; Let it cool down.

Power supply light is not illuminated: Internal Failure of the PSU. Check to see that is is plugged in to a wall outlet. Can be a severely overheated PSU, let it cool down, unplug it from the wall outlet to cool in this instance.

MORE PSU INFORMATION
The power supply has several built-in safeguards to help prevent damage to either the console or the power supply itself. The power supply will automatically turn off in cases of too much current flow, too-high voltage,
or too-high temperature. When such a condition exists, the light on the power supply will turn from green (normal) to orange or to red, or the light will turn off. When the power supply light is green, the power supply is correctly functioning.

ok now im scared....
im just turned my 360 on and i got the red light thats in the bottom right hand corner. i read everything on the screen, then i turned it off, then back on, and it works just fine now.
does this mean i should be preparing myself for the death of my 1st xbox 360?

dont trip (just yet) this happens to me alot all u need to do is turn the 360 off then back on if u get the same thing after 3 trys and its still not working i would call xbox

Got the dreaded 3 today, first time its happenned to me. Got error 0102. I unplugged the HDD, tried it without, and it worked fine. So I plugged the HDD back in, and still worked fine. This seemed to fix the problem (at least for now)

Just kidding. I'm on hold with Xbox support now. =(

mine just did the three-light tango twice in a row.i wish i woulda read this post first,no clue what light combo.i unplugged everything including my nyko fan, plugged only my av and power back in and.....it says disc is drty or damaged or it freezes around ten minutes in.my drive must be kaput.off to get a core

update: recieved a fresh core setup from toysrus, manufacture date:08-25-06

although impresed by the new disc drive, the power supply now has a sketchy two prong male plug(supply-2-wall). does anyone know if this is only the newer/older core systems that sport this, or, newer power supply's in general?

mines not giving any red lights (knock on wood) but my drives door sticks. i've had to press open and pry with a small flat head to open it. i've found a trick now that if i push on the door in while pressing eject button it opens up. whats the deal... i hate to send it in cause it'll be weeks b4 i get it back.

well I am scared my 2nd xbox is on the verge of dying. My son was playing and got an error 67 least it said E67 which means the HDD according to what is above so I take it out and put it back in turn on everything still plays but I go to plug in my memory unit in incase I need to back up my profile or heaven forbid it goes and I have to move all my games I haven't finished on my other HDD I have yet to use. Anyways now my memory unit is not detected and my wireless controllers all they do now is just flash I can't get them to work either. I will be more then pissed if my 2nd ones dies.

Ive had the 4 lights and 3 lights probly a total of 5 times. It never said an error for me tho and i just turned off my light switch and turned it back on and they worked fine. Am i the only one who has there xbox hooked up to a light switch?

Ill throw this out there.

Do not hook up your 360 to a power surge protector. This sometimes causes the 3 Red lights to come up. That info comes from the Xbox Tech Support.

I still have my 360 connected to the power surge. I have had the 3 Red Lights about 3 times since I've had it. 1st lights happened the very first time i booted up the 360. Restarted it and it worked.
