im 96% done only have 34 fruit did use some to lure sprites have i messed up the achievement for 40?

No, if you use fruit, ball berrings, etc. it does not count against you. You just need to find the rest. Also check if you have the pages of the guide done for elves and dwarves, Because I found all the items but my copy of the game will not register it, like some games you cant jump as Thimbletack.

in the caves there is some fruit on one of the outcroppings of rock

i got more fruits by going back and talking to the sprites in the garden.

After I completed chapter 8 and watched the cutscene, I was still 4 fruit short. After watching the last cutscene, I walked around the yard and found 5 fruit. I know I had looked all over the yard before that so maybe it respawns after chapter 8?

i had 100% game completion and 37 fruits when i found 1 fruit in a grass burro where you have to spin around the green guys. so i got the acheivement with 38 fruits and the 100% thing doesn't mean anything. so keep looking, theres a fruit somewhere.

I got my last fruit for winning the sprite race. Now I have my 1000g's!

There must be a way to get fruit back. I had 39, but I used a fruit to lure a fairy, but I got attacked and wasn't able to pick up the fruit before it disappeared. Now I'm down by 2, and I can't find them again.

As far as I know, the achievements for the collection of # items appear to be based on a total amount, rather than currently-stocked.

Some places I've found fruit:
1) Winning the sprite race (Quest for 100%): Gives you about 5 of each (fruit, stones, bearings)
2) Green thumb: Talk to each sprite in their homes. The garden improves with each you talk to, and you get a fruit with each one.
3) Forest areas near the edges: You'll have to do some retracing, maybe a little bit of mapping, but I found pressing against the edges of the trails generally got me some fruit here and there during the main part of the game.

Thank you so much for the advice about talking to the Sprites in the garden i was up 35 fruits (and didnt get fruits for the race because i had finished it in second and was unable to replay the race) But then talked to the sprites in the garden and got the achievement thanks again!

This worked for me i was 3 short and found 2 after chapter 8 complete it unlocked at 39 total

Thanks a bunch, only needed 1 as I cheated on the sprite race

There was 1 hiding under a rock in the second big cave coming from the cellar. Thought I would have to play through the game again. PHEW!

Advice for anyone playing this game, do not cheat on the sprite race as the reward is totally worth it
