Fable 2 or Fable 3?

I have 1600 Microsoft Points and want to purchase either Fable 2 or Fable 3 which are both exactly 1600. I don't know which I should buy, this is my brothers old account and he did already get ALL the achievements for Fable 2, which is kind of making me edge towards Fable 3. Gameplay and storywise however, which is the better one and which should I buy?

If you're going to do co-op, Fable 3 without question. If you plan to play solo, I'd lean more towards Fable 2 as it's more like the original Fable, and has more longevity.

I have both and prefer the second one. It was easier to navigate the menu to me.

My thoughts

I enjoyed both of these games greatly. I thought that Fable 3 played a little bit more fluidly than Fable 2, but at the expense of some of the story elements. I'd recommend playing both eventually (and the original, if you haven't yet)

Fable 1>2>3. They pretty much got worse with every game.

The co-op in 2 is pathetic though, so as said above, if you plan on co-opping a lot over XBL, get 3.

I liked Fable 2, it wasn't spectacular but it was alright. I haven't played the 3rd yet.

I'd agree with what the others have said. Fable 2 is great for single player but the online co-op is very limited. Overall I did prefer Fable 2, because in my opinion 3's story was very disappointing.

Also as WalterWhite said, there are plenty of better RPGs you could get with 1600MSP.

100% agree, if you want to play the best Fable, get Fable the lost chapters.

Fable 2 is much better than 3, although the coop does suck as previously mentioned. It's too bad Sacred 2 isn't downloadable on the marketplace anymore, because I would have suggested skipping Fable entirely and getting that game instead.

I prefer Fable 2 over 3, but if you're looking at it achievement wise it might be a pain because some of the achievements require people or other things such as going to a site that's down already.

You forgot about Fable: The Journey. But it's a Kinect-only game, so nobody has ever played it

As for Fable 2 and 3, I personally think that Fable 3 is better. To me at least, it's a little easier than Fable 2.

Here's a better question: Why are you spending $20 on a digital copy of one of the two when you can purchase physical copies of both for around $10 total?

Now this is the answer we've been waiting for. Emporer is correct, since both of these games are cheaper than 1600 ms points total (if you know where to get them of course)

This x10. I've played both and finished them so quickly. If you want a game that's very similar, try Kingdoms of Amalur. Otherwise, give Star Ocean or Lost Odyssey a go. Both are truly epic and a masterpiece.

Fable 2 is $2.99 pre-owned at Gamestop and Fable 3 is $9.99 pre-owned. On Amazon a new copy of Fable 3 is $12.74 right now.

This. As much as I like Fable, there are other RPGs that are even better. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Skyrim, Torchlight and even Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. Just in case you lose interest in Fable

Both are garbage.
I 100% the second game and the only thing worthwhile was the island DLC.

Fable 2, in my opinion, is far better than 3. Longer, more interesting, better features. I'd pick 2

This may be biased due to me not playing Fable III, but from what I have read and seen it looks as though Fable II is the superior choice, assuming you only limit your choices to the initial two you presented us with.

However, echoing the sentiments of some of those who have posted here, save yourself the time and get a better RPG. I can't recommend Fallout 3 or New Vegas highly enough, despite their flaws and occasional 'quirks'.
