Are portals system exclusive or universal?

My nephew got Skylanders Giants for his Wii, and I'm thinking about getting a disc-only copy of the game for Xbox for when he visits (on ebay or where ever). Does anyone know if the portal for the Wii version will work on the Xbox 360?

They are exclusive as they connect to the systems differently. The only exception is that the 360 and PC can use the same portal.

Bummer. I was hoping this wasn't the case because the Wii portal is just USB and isn't marked what system it connects to.

The only Wii portals I've seen have used a wireless dongle, not a straight up wired USB connection.

If they changed the portal design in giants, it might be worth a shot, but no guarantees.

The Wii and the PS3 ones are the same from what I here, not that that helps in this case but thought I'd add the info
