How to use this forum:

Purpose of this forum- take existing unpublished (often unsubmitted) Guides and Roadmaps that have been abandoned by their original authors and finish them out to a level consistent with site standards.

First and foremost THANK YOU for wanting to help polish up and finish out a poor orphaned guide and/or roadmap.

Process -
1. Pick a guide that is for a game you have finished or are currently finishing and feel you can substantially improve on.
2. Sign up for said guide. We are limiting the number of people that work on a given guide to a max of 3 in the hopes of fostering some teamwork in the completion of them and also to better manage the work that is going on. To sign up for a guide you will need to see the SIGN UP THREAD
3. Once you're signed up, post in the existing GreenBook thread for your chosen guide working on and improving the guide and/or roadmap.
4. When the information is complete and all members working on it are satisfied, ONE member will create a new thread in the Submit: Guides and Roadmaps forum to officially submit the finished guide.

The submission process will be identical to the regular submission process with ONE EXCEPTION.

A submitted guide that has been through the GreenBook MUST CONTAIN A LINK AT THE TOP OF THE FIRST POST WITH A LINK TO THE GREENBOOK THREAD. This is required both for award credit and to allow us to go back and remove that thread from the greenbook since it will no longer be needed.

Members who work on GreenBooked Guides and Roadmaps will be eligible to receive the GreenThumb Award to thank and acknowledge their hard work and assistance. On a case by case basis, an authorship award may also be given.

If you find an unsubmitted/unpublished guide in the forums (usually one that's been sitting there hiding for a while) please post a link to it here so we can look into it and get it either submitted or GreenBooked. If you have played that game and can see that the guide needs more work then include a note to that effect with your post. When we copy it to the GreenBook you will be notified so you can sign up for it.

Misc Guidelines (this list will be added to as needed):
- If a user writes several descriptions but then wants to edit them to include more detail etc, they should create a new post with the updated info and delete the older ones to avoid confusing the other members who are also working on the guide/roadmap.
- This should go without saying but, if you're going to write the description for an achievement, you need to have already unlocked it yourself.

I was waiting for this announcement. Sounds great. One question, I think I know the answer, but will any retrospective awards be given as I have taken a few from the greenbook and finished/re-done them?

Nope. The site has never made retroactive changes to awards before. You would've already been awarded for those anyways based on the old awarding system.

That makes sense, like I said I already pretty much knew the answer.

There is a game in the greenbook I am about to start working on (it needs both AG and R). I will be starting from scratch, and would prefer if published for it to go towards my guide and roadmap tally. As it is in the greenbook does this mean this couldn't happen?

If you start from scratch in the games forum and don't use the one that's "in progress" here, then it would be its own g&r and have nothing to do with greenbook.

Cool makes sense. I'm sure this question would have come up eventually anyway, as the list of games requiring a guide is also found in the greenbook

What about games HERE that need both AG & RM? Even though they are in the greenbook, do the ones that need both not count? I'm not being a smartass, I really don't know. There are a few I can help out with regardless, I just wanted to know how to go about it.

It depends on how you approach it. If there's a game on that list that is in the Greenbook, you can choose to continue with the Greenbook one, or start from scratch. Either way, a guide and road map will be completed.

Like that thread states, you're welcome to start a guide from scratch in the games forum for any of the games identified as not having one. (Probably a good idea to double check the individual game and be sure one hasn't been published since then and just not updated) Doing so would be considered a regular guide and roadmap and not a GreenThumb-able one. The GreenThumb is specifically for the ones that are here in the GreenBook that have been abandoned by their original authors. Makes sense? Since there's no WiP in the GreenBook for it there would be no GreenThumb. However, you could still get authorship credit by starting one from scratch in the game's forum just like always.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. The thing that was confusing to me was that even though some games had neither AG nor RM they were still listed in that thread in the Greenbook. Thanks for clearing that up!
