This is actually a funny game but the hell I don't like the style of how the game is made. A few points what I was afraid of: I am searching for a new partner and I create a word and then I wait, and wait and wait and wait and wait and nothing happens.
The second point which I didn't like was, that there was no tutorial. I don't even know what the TW/TH blocks mean. And why the hell can't I put a word in a row which I like and have to start where star is? And the final thing is: The translation into German is a huge fail. |

First, you take your turn then you can start another game or leave the game until they take their turn. You're not supposed to sit there waiting.
Second, TW/TL (there is no TH) is Triple Word/Triple Letter. Yes you have to start at the star. Have you never played Scrabble before? Maybe it's not as popular in Germany as it is in the US

Hmm, thanks. You are right, I never played scrabble before and I don't know anyone around my friends who is playing this.

Regardless HOW popular it is, without minimal instructions this is absolutely a joke. If they would have added only those three lines you mentioned above, it would have been ok. But well, you did, so now I know what the fields mean.

Under "Help & Options" there's a link to "Help & Support".
This takes you to the Xbox forums for the game, and there's a post titled Rules of the Game that has full game instructions. Not exactly easy to find, but they did put it in there. |

Yeah, I wish there was a little bit of instruction on how this game worked. I was very confused when I first started since I had no idea what TW/TH/DW/DL meant nor the fact that I had to start at the star either xD

The one thing I don't like about this game is how long it takes to auto-resign players. I currently have 5-6 games where they haven't made a move in three days. Another few that haven't made a move in two.
I personally think it should auto-resign players if they don't make a move in 48 hours.

It didn't even occur to me that there might be people not familiar with the rules. That's just strange to me. They definitely should've made it easier to find that info, though.
And personally, I think the limit is just fine the way it is. Not everyone lives on their phone, nor does everyone use the push notifications. Hell, if they do, the damn things don't work half of the time. I went an entire day without playing because I wasn't getting my notifications and I had no reason to check my phone otherwise.

Quiet Q is on a TL block making it worth 30 points (10 standard x3 for TL) U is on a standard block for 2 points I is on a TW Block tripling the entire word score and 1 point for the letter E is on a standard block for 1point T is on a DL block for 2 points (2 standard points x2 for DL) So 30+2+1+1+2 for 36 points then multiply that by 3 (for playing a tile on the TW space with the I tile) for a total word score of 108 points for the round One game could take months actually depending on frequency of the other player and yourself making moves and the number of tiles played per tuen Last edited by tormond; 12-09-2012 at 06:09 PM. with regard to tormond's reply, something that confused my partner who had never played Scrabble before, on playing Words With Friends she got confused about the scoring
only the tiles played on a "special" square count towards the bonus bonuses are calculated on Letters first, then the Word So; Player 1 plays (on the real board): Q on TL = 30 U = 2 I = 1 E = 1 T = 1 (on TW) 30 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 35 times 3 = 105 Player 2 plays off of the Q playing: QUEUE Q (ignoring TW as it was already covered) = 10 U = 2 E = 1 U = 2 E = 1 no multiples for any letters, means score = 10 + 2 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 16 the fastest games I've had on WWF have been within a day, but both you and your game partner have to be "watching" the game to see when the other person plays, but my average games in WWF take a couple of weeks with delays on either side Words With Friends is VERY similar to Scrabble, but the multipliers are laid out differently, and the starting point isn't a Double Word, you need a 5 letter word to get to one...

Agreed with the lack of tutorial being a tiny annoyance, but I was conscious enough to click on the help link.
You can have up to 30 games going at once, so I don't see the need for a shorter auto-resign timer. As long as it is less than a week I don't mind. My biggest grievance is that sometimes my games list fail to populate, even though I'm connected to Wi-Fi and/or receiving a perfect cellular signal. Sometimes the games take a long time to load, or my turns take a long time to finish.
