Introduction

Turn N Run is a 3-D physics-based puzzle game that tasks you with getting an alien across each of the game's 60 levels to a spaceship, collecting crystals along the way. The game is actually played in 2-D, but the level can and will need to be rotated to open up paths in another 2-D plane. This concept is very similar to Fez that launched on XBLA earlier in 2012. For a more in-depth review of the game from WPCentral, click HERE. Currently the game is listed at $0.99 in the Windows Phone Store.

Step 1: Play through the game and collect all 231 crystals

Play through all the levels starting from the beginning, collecting all of the crystals on each level as you go. Almost all of the achievements will unlock naturally during this step.

Step 2: Mop-up

Mop-up any achievements that you may have missed along the trek to collecting all crystals. There should be very few left.

Conclusion

If you are a fan of physics-based puzzle games, or quick and easy completions, you must pick up Turn N Run. Most of the levels are not that challenging and can be completed quickly. The gameplay is unique and is unlike any other game on the Windows Phone platform. Turn N Run can be completed in less than four hours and unfortunately offers little replay value.

GUIDE

GENERAL TIPS:

  • Take advantage of the 3D views. They can give good insight into how to complete the level. See the Miscellaneous achievements section of the guide for information on how to activate the various 3D modes.
  • Be careful not to accidentally end up on the space ship block before collecting all the crystals. This will automatically end the level and you will have to replay it from the beginning.
  • Take you time. Rushing through a level may you get into a confusing location that the developers did not intend. There are many dead ends in each level.
  • Pay attention to the color of the blocks. Those that you are able to move your alien to from your current location will have a slight color change from the unreachable blocks.
  • If there are two blocks in a line going into the screen, you will always warp to the one in the front for the current camera angle. Use this to your advantage as you can warp the whole way across the level just by spinning the screen twice.

CRYSTAL ACHIEVEMENTS (6 for 105 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 6 achievements are obtained by collecting all 231 crystals in the game.

Collect 100 crystals

See "Mushroom planet explorer."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/+PXERA==.jpg Master crystals hunter - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Collect 200 crystals

Complete all Flowers planet levels

See "Mushroom planet explorer."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/-LfXLg==.jpg Desert planet explorer - 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete all Desert planet levels

See "Mushroom planet explorer."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/-LfXLg==.jpg Mushroom planet explorer - 25 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Complete all Mushroom planet levels

These achievements will all be obtained along the path to collecting the 231 crystals in the game. There is an achievement for 50, 100, and 200 crystals, as well as three for collecting all the crystals in each of the game's three planets.

The puzzles in the game are not that difficult and you should have little trouble gathering all the crystals and making it to the spaceship. The number of crystals in each level varies from 3 to 5. You can tell which levels you are missing crystals on because they will appear greyed-out in the level-select screen. The ones you have already collected appear red.

The "X planet explorer" achievements do have somewhat misleading descriptions. They are not awarded for just completing the levels (which you do by getting the alien to the spaceship). They are actually for collecting every available crystal in that world.

CUMULATIVE ACHIEVEMENTS (6 for 75 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 6 achievements are obtained by completing miscellaneous cumulative requirements and will likely come with natural progression through the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/+P2P5g==.jpg Turns Specialist - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Make 500 turns by swiping

See "Turns master."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/+R13dQ==.jpg Turns Master - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Make 1000 turns by swiping

These achievements simply refer to swiping either left or right on the screen to rotate the level. You will get to 1000 turns sometime during the third planet when collecting all the crystals. If for some reason you don't, just load up any level and continuously rotate it in a circle until the achievement unlocks.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/+zx+wA==.jpg Skilled jumper - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Make the character to jump 100 times

See "Master jumper."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/+tyGUw==.jpg Master jumper - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Make the character to jump 200 times

To make the alien jump, you need to tell him to go to an adjacent block that is on block higher than where he is standing. It appears the jumping animation is somewhat arbitrary, as often the alien will grab the ledge and pull himself up instead. Regardless, you will reach 200 jumps with no problem, likely while still completing the first planet.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/+fuSXQ==.jpg Skilled teleporter - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pass through 50 portals

See "Master teleporter."

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/+Btqzg==.jpg Master teleporter - 15 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Pass through 100 portals

Portals can only be found on the Desert and Mushroom planets. When you step on a portal block, it will warp you across the level (in the same dimension) to the other portal of the same color. Each time you pass through any portal counts towards these achievements. You will definitely reach 100 before collecting all of the crystals, likely sometime on the third planet. If for some reason you don't, just load up Level 1 of the second planet and go back-and-forth through the portal in this tutorial level.

MISCELLANEOUS ACHIEVEMENTS (3 for 20 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png)

The following 3 achievements are obtained by simply by maneuvering the screen in a particular way and can be earned on any level in the game.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/s1.jpg 3D viewer - 5 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Tap the 3D viewer button

While in any level, simply tap the red "3D" button in the top right corner of the screen to unlock this achievement. It will show a 3-D view of the level which you cannot manipulate.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/s2.jpg 3D seeker - 5 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Find another way to switch 3D view.

While in any level, simply swipe downward on the screen to go into a 3-D, top-down view of the level. The achievement unlocks when you do this for the first time.

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/achievements/2543/s3.jpg Curious 3D viewer - 10 http://www.xbox360achievements.org/images/site/gp-g.png

Look underneath the blocks

While in any level, simply swipe upward on the screen to go into a 3-D, bottom-up view of the level. The achievement unlocks when you do this for the first time.

thanks. Do check the game out it is not bad at all. Too easy if anything. I know I completely forgot the price was supposed to be cheaper. Impulse bought it.

Yea, I'm tempted to get it now, but I'll give it a few days and if we've not heard when it'll be sorted, I'll just grab it at that price as it's not going to break the bank.

** EDIT ** the price is fixed now, I just paid 0.79 for it! :)
