Tom Hardy as Sam
and Fassbender as Altair. What are everyone's thoughts on these?

I like both choices. Can't complain, especially with the Michael Fassbender choice.
Why, are there a majority of complainers? |

No idea. I think because Hardy is now best known as Bane everyone thinks he's just riding on the success of the Dark Knight franchise. But this is hardly the case. I've known and liked him as an actor from very early on in his career. For starters, he is well known to Trekkies for playing Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis (which is one of my favourite Trek films
) and he is incredible in Bronson and The Dark Knight Rises was just the ticket he needed to propel him right into the limelight he deserves. As for Fassbender, I haven't seen much of him. He wasn't really in much of Eden Lake, got his ass handed to him in Haywire but was fantastic in Hunger and bought more to the character of Magneto in X-Men: First Class than Ian McKellan ever did over the course of three films and he was the best thing about Prometheus, although that's not really saying much haha. At the moment I have more faith in Hardy pulling off Fisher than I do in Fassbender doing Altair justice but that's just because I've seen more of Hardy in action and have a better idea of what he's capable of on-screen.

I don't really see how Fassbender works as Altair, I think he is a great actor but I'm curious as to how he will handle the physical aspects of the role. I'm pretty confident he can pull it off, but we'll see. It would be the same deal with Tom Hardy (who I love) if it weren't for the rather large number of physical roles he has had, and I am definitely confident he can pull off any acrobatics or crazy takedowns they put in the Splinter Cell movie.

Rich, check out Lawless. It came out this past summer and Hardy did a great job in that film too.
Anyways, I can't really see Fassbender being an assassin to be honest. So I'm eager to see how it will play out. Hardy as Sam is probably a near-perfect choice. Reminds me of Damon in the Bourne movies. I've yet to hear Hardy with an 'American-accent' though...so I wonder what he'll sound like on film.

Thinking about it I can't really name a role where he's donned an American accent either, in Inception he played a British guy, in Batman his voice was distorted to hell and back with the mask, in Star Trek he's trying to emulate Patrick Stewart. Everything else I can think of are all British films, too. Hmm. I have faith yet. I mean, just how many Brits are there playing Americans today, not just in cinema but on TV - Homeland and The Walking Dead both have Brits in their lead roles.

I am fine with the both of these.
They are both exceptional actors and I'm sure they can pull it off. Listen, when it comes to video game movies and you think actors were bad choices just always think one thing; At least it wasn't the Resident Evil movies.

Can't argue with you there. It's definitely not uncommon so I'm sure with the proper techniques and coaching, he can pull off a great American accent. I can't wait to see him in action.

If you haven't seen that film and you're a fan of Tom Hardy I recommend watching it. (EDIT) Short clip of Warrior - Tom Hardy in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=...g&feature=fvwp Last edited by II Mortis II; 01-08-2013 at 06:03 AM. |

Great clip. The "You owe me 200 bucks" line had a nice gruff, Fisher-esque feel to it haha

Caught Warrior sometime last week. Hardy was great in it. Now to see Lawless!

The ending to Warrior was a little too cliche for me, but Lawless...let us know when you've watched it! I loved that one.

Hardy had an American accent in Warrior. Was a pretty decent film too; good fight scenes.
Edit: Oh, and as for Fassbender pulling off a heavily physical role I have have just two words: stunt double. Easy to pull off since Altaïr is hooded all the time anyway.

American accent? No, technically, more like Boston/New York accent. I'm talking straight no accent.
