Do you think Black Ops 2 will be in contention for GOTY?
Do you think it will at least be up for nomination in the awards show, or do you think it will be outclassed by some of the other games this fall? What are your early predictions?

COD titles are usually up for 'GOTY' in some form, they don't deserve it though.

Yup, CoD is a fun game and is certainly not bad but it clearly doesn't earn the title GOTY.

Yes it will. I dont harbor the usual distaste that so many others have towards the games, however I dont believe it will win that title because its not really innovative enough IMO.

I think Black Ops II will get a nomination but definitely won't win since it IS just a similar game released once a year. I mean really, CoD9? Series is going too far...

I do not think it deserves it. As stated above, by another poster, it is simply not innovative enough to warrant GOTY.
I will most definitely play the SP aspect of this game, but I have not played MP on any COD since the 1st Black Ops, and even then I played only for a short while. It will definitely be in contention for GOTY (Aren't they always???) ~My Humble 2 cents...

Anyone that gives a CoD game the GotY distinction deserves no respect. Unless that year's iteration is so mind-blowingly different and awesome from the rest.

It will get nominated but shouldn't win it, not with Borderlands 2, Dishonored, XCOM, Assassins Creed III and Halo 4 out in the Q4 rush.
Plus other great titles this year like Sleeping Dogs should get a nod.

I'll be very shocked if it's not. MW3 was in the running for GOTY, and we all know how shitty that game is.

Not in the year of Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2, and still Assassin's Creed 3 etc to come. Not a chance.

Shooter GOTY. Yes. Overall? Probably not. It is a big step forward but with Borderlands 2, Halo 4, and GTA 5 I doubt it will be overall.

Any CoD game released after Modern Warfare 2 thats nominated for overall GOTY this gen.. Is BS..
Shooter GOTY? Yes.. It very well would and very well should be nominated.. Max Payne 3 should win ATM.. |

Given the number of sites which have a Game of the Year award, you can be sure to see a number of 'em giving the award to Black Ops II.

Call of Duty titles are up for contention every year normally, so I would say yes it will get nominated. I wont judge on whether or not it deserves to win till I've played it fully (I have played 2 multiplayer games of it at this years Gamescom, but thats no where near enough to judge). I did enjoy Black Ops 1, both campaign and multiplayer. Yes I know, boo hiss Call of Duty, but I'm just being honest. So if Treyarch can pull that off again it might be quite good.
However will it stack up to some of the other big hitters out this year? Well I can tell you one thing; it will have be something very special to top the fun I've had playing Borderlands 2. Plus Assassin's Creed 3 looks amazing :P |

I would think that the game would at the very least be nominated by a lot of sites and would win a couple of awards as well because GOTY awards are not like the Academy Awards where members from all across the industry vote for 1 best picture, each site/magazine is made up of it's small core and they will give the award to the game they found the best

Honestly, every year they are up for contention based off their reputation and sales. Although, from what I've seen, this game is going to be great. And will possibly contend for GOTY.

I think call of duty is a good game but not a great one, I'll be getting it later this year with a few others but it's the least I'm exicited for, especially with getting games like Assassin's Creed 3, Hitman Absolution, Dishonored and Borderlands 2.
However, it probably will sell loads of copies and be GOTY. |
