I need a few questions answered before buying!
Can someone answer me these questions:
1) Are Chao races in the original game, without buying the DLC? 2) Is there any way to compete your Chaos (via Race and/or karate) over Live, with or without the DLC? |

Yes, the Chao Races are in the core game. There is, however, no connectivity over Xbox Live.

So what is the multiplayer part of the game with the DLC? Just the ability to race people with the main characters?

I'm not sure what the Battle DLC adds exactly, probably more stages and the Chao Karate. Other than that I really don't know.

there is no online multiplayer, apart from leaderboards, the battle pack is extra for offline multiplayer - this effectively is from the SA:2Battle

Yep, the Battle DLC adds Chao Karate, 21 stages in Multiplayer (which is offline), as well as giving you Metal Sonic, Amy, Chao Walker, Dark Chao Walker (which will replace Big), Tikal, and Chaos 0 as playable characters in multiplayer, which behave differently than their original Dreamcast versions. As well as 3 Achievements for 100 more Gamerscore. Pretty nice deal for $3.
