Anything's possible. Bioware haven't mentioned any new DLC outside of the Omega DLC and the new MP one. I would like to see a new squad member personally. But no information exists on this topic right now as far as I know.

Yeah Thane's old room is an obvious choice for a spot where you could put a new character. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Bioware decides to do. I'm hopeful and optimistic on the subject.

The sheer number of empty spaces on the Normandy and the vastly reduced original line-up both suggest that adding more squadmates was at least the intention in the beginning, but at this point I would imagine that the plan has been abandoned.

To be honest, the single-player campaign is irreparably broken and they know it, so why make any more effort than to squeeze a few extra bucks out of a couple of additional missions. They seem to be focusing their efforts on improving the MP, which is still extremely enjoyable, and since they can't fix the SP mess I'm glad they've gone that route.

Yes, there will be a new squadmate in the Omega DLC. Name of new squadmate: Nyreen.

• Polygon is saying the DLC is ~2 hours long and ~2GB in size, meanwhile Eurogamer and CVG are saying it's ~5 hours long.
• Introduction of Nyreem, an ex-military female Turian.
• Both Aria and Nyreen are biotics, the former offensive, the latter defensive.
• No squadmates except these two. Shepard goes to Omega alone.
• Neither Aria nor Nyreem 'romanceable', though you can get "really friendly" with Aria.
• Neither Aria nor Nyreem become usable squadmates for other missions.
• Both characters have a history, and the story gets caught up between the two and their individual objectives. Nyreem a more paragon path, Aria more renegade.
• Cerberus Dragoons from the multiplayer Retaliation DLC make an appearance.
• 'Rampart Mech' enemy, a crowd controlling cyborg.
• N7 Valkyrie and Chakram Launcher unlock in the DLC for those who don't have them.
• Omega does not open up as a hub once the DLC is finished.
• DLC itself has a central 'hub', with four main branching missions, as well as side missions (possibly like the main game).
• ~80% new areas of Omega.
• "There's an exploration aspect of Omega that's really important."
• As before, 1200 MS/BW points, ~$15 PSN. Nov 27 for most of the world, Nov 28 for EU PSN.

Even with Hazard editions to the maps, and the new COD challenges integrated into it, it has not changed at all. Their revamps consist of micro transactions. Actually adding missions or god-forbid real co-op offensive missions like Spartan Ops/Spec ops would actually require more than the bare minimum effort they've presented since the demo.

Someone get on this... Immediately! Despite the fact I'm serious, I'm perfectly fine with the MP as is.

OT: It really seems unlikely, but I suppose the potential for a new squadmate is still there. It seems more likely that, like Omega, we'll see more temporary squad members then permanent.

The two characters for ME2 were planned well before the game came out. At this point its highly unlikely they'll add anything.

Which is a shame, because new characters would be some sort of step in the right direction.

The game is what it is at this point, nothing they can add will change anything about it (especially a squadmate). There's nothing to make progress towards.

(Obviously only referring to single player, multiplayer is great)

I think I remember seeing that it's not possible to add a brand new squadmate at this stage. Some of the files would have to be on disk a la Javik. So it's extremely unlikely

As someone already stated they would have to have a placeholder on the disc already. It's very unlikely at this point to see another Squadmate.

Their were rumors back in May about a new squadmate. It looks like those rumors were a bunch of BS.

I believe the DLC set for March/April 2013 might be the last set of SP DLC content we will see for the game. Two more SP DLC are planned. If the sales are high we might see more.

After being teased in Omega I don't think they will give us a new permanent squad mate. Omega was the best chance to get one in my opinion but that did not happen.

I don't think that they will, but I do think that it IS possible for them to add it. I remember seeing a mod for the PC version once where they had both Ashley and Kaidan and all of the squad members were available in the Squad Selection screen. If modders can do it, then I'm pretty sure that Bioware can as well.

Given how bland Javik was, would a new squadmate even add anything interesting? Dark Channel and Lift Grenade aren't exactly groundbreaking.

It's entirely possible. Just like adding continuing gameplay to Fallout New Vegas, just like adding dialogue that ties in the factions into crossing over in Skyrim. It's just entirely unlikely because it costs money to recode game actions and character movements, and it costs even more money to find those pricey voice actors to redo voice elements.

Not just the one character, but the total interaction of several characters. Not to mention Bioware can't do anything but successfully rehash products after being bought by EA, and Obsidian has to knee on the modding community to finish any of their AAA work, but that's beside the point.

I really wouldn't go that far. I enjoyed my interactions with Vega. And I think he's a cool character overall. But he's definitely not the best squadmate in the game in my opinion. I always like Garrus and Liara the best in ME3. Javik, Edi, Tali, and Ashley are also great. I really don't dislike any of the companions. I agree with you that the hate Vega receives is unjustified.
