Shooting blanks?

I have been playing RDR online for years now and for the first time I faced something very weird.

First it seemed that I just couln't get anyone like I was just playing badly. But then I got a few good places where I got several easy shots on people on close range and still couldn't get them dead. In worst case my aim was locked to a guys head in some 5 meter distance and I emptied my whole clip on him and it did nothing. I've been playing the game long enough to know he should have gone down with lot less than that. It seemed that I was just shooting blanks.

Has anyone else had a problem like this? Could it be caused by lag or something like that?

Yeah its most likely lag, matey.

But it does seem that both GTA and RDR suffer some type of gamer modding problems or something. I've bought both GOTY versions lately, and when asking if anyone wants to join up for a game through another website,. the message I get is that the games got left behind when modders started showing up.

But I've been online the last 3 days and not come across any of this.
