Challenge Reset option
Just noticed this for the first time. When you choose to reset, does it reset all challenges or just the one you have highlighted?

You have to complete at least 85% of the non-quest challenges for it to show as an option.

That's, interesting...I may consider doing it if they release a third Playthrough option. Some challenges have been a real pain to earn though, wish there was a way to reset just specific ones.

Aren't there other challenges that are excluded from the 85 percent? like DLC and Character specific challenges?

Does it reset area/zone specific challenges too? What about DLC specific challenges like kill Hyperius 15 times?

I did Challenge Accepted, so shouldn't it be available?

No, you have to complete 85%, meaning clear level 5 of 85% of your challenges.

Just tested this out on a copy of my main save. It reset every challenge, including DLC challenges and zone/area challenges. Kind of painful to see...

I don't remember about the character challenges but I thought the DLC challenges being excluded would be obvious. Think of how much more rage there would be if they made DLC mandatory in order to re-do your challenges.

How is it that I never knew this was an option? Do you retain your current Bad-Ass rank and just gain more points to add to it after the reset and redoing the challenges?

You maintain your Badass Rank. It was added as an option to allow players to take full advantage of the infinite ranking on BA.

But if you're one of the unlucky ones and get your badass rank reset after you reset challenges, do you lose all of those badass points from the challenges that you reset? I assume you do lose them.

I don't know. I did recently experience a BA reset, but this afternoon Gearbox sent me a SHiFT code to restore my BA rank.

There are 114 non-area specific and non-DLC challenges. All of those have 5 levels. This means there are 570 "challenges" so to say. You have to complete 85%, 485, of those for the "reset" option to become available. Once you reset it starts them all over at level 1. You retain ALL BA Ranks you have achieved and you will also gain a yellow star with a number next to it on the screen that shows how many times you have "prestiged". This was implemented so that players wouldn't have to resort to creating new characters to gain additional ranks.
* Edit: Although I wasn't affected by the BA rank from what I have read you would still be able to restore your entire BA rank. This is a result of the "prestige" star and coordinating number. The system still keeps track of previous challenges completed through these stars and would allow you to recover all progress. Last edited by Finga Freak; 02-12-2013 at 08:58 PM. |

You'd be surprised how much bull Gearbox's CEO can come up with.

I know that challenges don't carry over between character playthroughs, but do the challenges carry over from the 1st run to UTVH mode with the same character?

If you main a single character, it could be hard to gain more Bad Ass tokens after nearly maxing all the challenges, plus once you've completed every challenge you may enjoy doing them all over again, so it's a good thing. But it's awful if you're a compleationist, specially since it also resets the challenge for buying stuff from Earl (who only sells a finite amount of upgrades). |
