Question Worth buying ?

Would like to know if this game is worth buying ?
And difficulty and time would you give this game (full 1000+) ?
Ive seen a lot of gamers say the game has a lot of glitches and bugs. Have they updated these issues or are they still occurring ?
Also I was thinking in buying the game to help make an upgrade to the achievement guide already posted. And just have the extra credit laying around to spend on games.

I'm really enjoying it. This year has been a bit of an RPG year for me, just seems I've played a lot of them. This, for me, is better than the Witcher 2. The graphics aren't amazing, but then it's an RPG so I never really expect them to be great The story seems well written and there's a huge plus in that there doesn't appear to be an inventory limit! I've picked up everything and bought a lot of stuff that you'd think would be heavy, but I can just carry on, brilliant!

Only real negative is a lack of on screen mini-map. There's a compass at the top which is practically useless, a few times people say 'take the northwest path' or 'head south east' so apart from that, I've never even looked at it. Luckily the islands I've been on have been small enough not to get lost on. Once you get to grips with the pretty much 'left to it yourself' approach of the game/quests you'll enjoy it. Think Fallout really, a few pointers as to the 'main quests' but largely, speak to people, get quests, do them.

I rate this game a lot, was almost put off by the cry of bugs and glitches, but so far I've not had a single bad thing happen (14hrs into the game). Sure on loading a save texturs take a second or two to appear, but it does that on Gears too.

Only other negative, only 8 save slots.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like a good game. From what you say it sounds like its a decent game, worth trying it out. That's pretty good that you don't have an inventory limit! Like any RPG it takes time to get used to it, since they are not all the same.
And you said only thing you don't like is that it has 8 save slots, why is that a problem ?

PS major props on your avatar, I had a Che avatar a few months back.

Trust me, you will wish for more Saves. 7 Slots plus the autosave are not enough. There will be times when you need to go back and try things on a different path. I used 400 saves for Fallout 3 alone and more than 300 for Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout: New Vegas. I would be happy if Risen 2 had 10 or 20 slots, but 7 is too few.

Oh wow that sounds like a pain. I don't really have much skills in RPG games, but from what you say, seems like you need a lot of saves.
Is there any missable achievements that would require you to do like 2 - 5 playthroughs ?

You'll need at least 1 and a fair chunk to get all of them, since on the 2nd island, you pick either Natives or Inquisitors, which'll have 1 story based achievement and a couple of 'rank up skills' one that you can only get on either side, not both.

Don't be put off by 8 saves, you just have to use them more wisely.

Alright doesn't sound to bad, I will just read up on walkthroughs just so I know what I am doing. I will probably be picking this up this weekend since its on sale brand new with the dlc included (haven't made my mind up yet). And then might also start up a new guide, since a lot of user are not enjoying the guide that's already here. Hopefully mines comes out good.

Why on Earth would you need 2 - 3 hundred save files for one game? I usually rotate 3 to 4 by overwriting the oldest one each time, with autosave I rarley lose more than 20 min of gameplay. I do save often my fallout and oblivion counts are in the thousands for 100 plus hours of game play but like I said 3 or 4 in rotation is all you need.

Well, I went out and got the Special Edition today, and was a bargain price too. I'm not too fussed about graphics, as I played Two Worlds all the way through. Just means I have an RPG that's based on Pirates. Onto a winner there.

Amazon huh? Got the same deal.

Hoping it turns out to be a gold mine for me. No pun intended.

i am enjoying it.it takes a good deal of time to figure out where all the missions are but very addictive.last night i was going to go to sleep about 11pm,didnt turn in till 12:30 am lol.

the only frustrating part is building up attributes and glory points and learning skills.the game does take time.

i can now freely sail the seas now.

Risen and Risen 2 are highly underrated they are great games for the rpg fan who doesn't like all the hand holding of modern rpgs.

Aw crap. I do like all the hand holding modern rpgs. I hope I will still enjoy this
I hated the witcher2. After the intro cutscene the game was never once fun again for me and that game was described similarly.
