Easy way to get On The Hunt achievement and others

This is for...

On the hunt10 Hit all 5 ships in a single turn while in Salvo Mode.

But you can also use it for some of the other achievements.

So I was getting very annoyed with this achievement and could see it taking forever just playing the game. I restarted Salvo mode about 50+ times each times never getting any higher 3 hits at once even when the enemy took 7-8 attempts to sink one of my ships. Then I thought I would try the Windows/Power button technique that has been used in some other games. Started a new game, picked 5 squares and made a note of them and then fired. If any hit I marked it off and then pushed the Windows button (as long as you push the button before the enemy fires you will be fine) then went into Xbox Live and selected Battleship, once loaded go back into Salvo mode and continue. You will have a blank board but all the ships will still be in the same place so you can now try another another set of squares. After doing this 9-10 times I was confident I had worked out where all the ships were so restarted for the final attempt and put in 5 shots.

If you do this correctly you should also be able to unlock two Weapons in Superweapons mode helping towards the Gun Captain achievement. The two weapons you are trying to unlock are Cherry Bomb which you get for not losing a single ship and Reinforcement for hitting 5 enemy ships in a Single Salvo. You may even be able to unlock more with this method but I can no longer see the requirements as it disappears once you've unlocked them.

This method could also be used for unlocking some of the other achievements like...

Gun Captain15 - Unlock all super weapons.

This is all I need to beat you5 - Win a Super-weapons game without using any super weapons. (Only Shell)

I sunk your battleship10 - Sink your opponent's Battleship before any other ship.(Classic Mode Only)

Back to boot camp10 - Miss 20 times before you hit a ship.


Although these should come overtime anyway.

Here's the method without all my spiel.

1. Start a new game in Salvo mode
2. Select 5 squares (I suggest a row 0 x 0 x 0 x 0 x 0 but do however you want) and make a note of their positions and then fire. If any hit mark it off and then push the Windows button (as long as you push the button before the enemy fires you will be fine).
3. Now go into Xbox Live and select Battleship, once loaded go back into Salvo mode and continue. You will have a blank board but all the ships will still be in the same place.
4. Repeat step 2. After doing this 9-10 times you should have a good idea where all the ships are.
5. Once your confident on their position restart for the final attempt and place your 5 shots. Achievement should pop straight away. If it doesn't it means you've hit one of the ships twice so hit Windows button again and continue searching.
6. Finish game but also aim to sink all enemy ships without losing any of yours. This is a requirement to unlock one of the weapons in Superweapons mode which is also an Achievement (Gun Captain - unlock all super weapons).

So, I did this and hit 5 ships with it and even unlocked the reinforcement super weapon, but the achievement did not pop I had two hits on one of the ships already, so I don't know if that affects the achievement.

Ok, I tried it again, and it does have to be the first hit for it to work. Thanks for the info!!
