Zurg One time only

Hey, I got all Zurg's pieces and i saw his pod by slinky area. Then I turned off my xbox, and the next day the pod wasn't there anymore. I still have all the pieces but I can't play like Zurg again.

Is it a one time only chance or what?

I could be wrong here but I thought you could only play as Zurg in the PS3 version?
