Biggest Letdown Of The Year So Far?
Which game or games which have come out this year or before but just got round to playing them have let you down the most? For me without a shadow of a doubt it is Soul Calibur 5, the game really is total garbage.

Prototype 2. Nowhere as good as the first.

If there's no save points...I was sent back to the start of the level...Battleship. The game itself isn't bad but no save points?

Mass Effect 3. Not that its a bad game, just after the epic awesomness of Mass Effect 2, I feel that this game is very dull, and not much seems to have impressed me so far. Every enemy seems to spam smoke grenades. Wow, that's a repetitive attack.
Apart from that, I can only say 1 other, and that was Kingdoms of Amalur. 20 minutes is all it took to decide my money was going elsewhere. God awful controls, and lack of direction made that game a waste of my life! |

Soulcalibur V. I put probably close to 100 hours into IV playing with friends. V is crap, story mode is crap. I hate the story, gameplay, and the characters.

Ridge Racer: Unbounded.
It's not that bad of a game, but I was hoping it would be more like the old Ridge Racer games.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Prototype 2. I was expecting too much from them and ended up disappointed

None so far thankfully, games like The Walking Dead, ME3, The Witcher 2 and Max Payne 3 were brilliant and KOA:R and Gotham City Impostors pleasantly surprised me and were very fun.
I will say i was put of buying Ghost Recon on release due to people saying it has a lack of stealth and bad controls. I still do want to judge it for myself at some point.

Mass Effect 3. The campaign was so weak, it's hard to believe it was the finale of an otherwise fantastic series.
I only pop in the disc for the multiplayer now.

MLB 2K12 was a let down, it was the exact same as 2k11. Even the achievement list was the exact same.

I haven't played Soul Calibur V but if it's even worse that IV which was a total shit piece then that is unforgivable. The first Soul Calibur was the best in the series hands down. They caught lightning in a bottle with that game and were never able to replicate it.
As for myself the only new game I've played this year is Mass Effect 3 and it let me down. The gameplay was better than 2's but the story was so much weaker than the first two games that it ended up being a disappointment. I'm surprised that the multilplayer is actually fun though. The only other games coming out this year that I'm looking forward to are XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Lollipop Chainsaw now that Bioshock Infinite is pushed back to 2013 so hopefully they won't let me down.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. I had hoped it would be decent, even though the developer had only done like 3 games prior, and two of them being on the PSP, but it was pretty terrible. AI is worse than Left 4 Dead's AI. Takes waaaayy too many shots to bring someone down. Think I only beat three or four acts before I gave up on it.

I put over 60 hours into Mass Effect 3's MP. Found MP to be the only redeeming quality of the game. I probably wouldn't have even gave it a shot so soon if the campaign didn't suck. I originally planned on doing my second play through immediately after my first but now I think I'll just wait until the free ending DLC. With the way the game is now I doubt I'd purchase any single player DLC unless it got great reviews. Only liked two parts of the game and that was before they left earth at the beginning that was in the demo and the turian moon stages.

Brink and need for speed the run. NFS was way too short and very repetitive. And Brink was a good idea but it was repetitive and looked better in the commercials.

I'm tempted to agree. I loved the campaign (playing wise, plot sucked). MP makes me want to commit suicide

Mass Effect 3.
If you ever want a master-class in how to fuck up a series and simultaneously stick up your middle finger at your long-term fans by making every choice they've made since Mass Effect 1 culminate in a choice between A - Blue Explosion, B - Green Explosion or C - Red Explosion then look no further. And you know, I don't even think it was just the ending. In focussing on the hideous ending, I feel that many people see the rest of the game in a better light than it deserves to be seen. If you look at the whole game what do you have? - The exploration has been cut down, in ME1 you went onto planets in the Mako; in ME2 you could scan the majority of planets for elements but this removed roaming about on the planet; in ME3 you get a few specific points that you find in each solar system just using the sonar thing on the galaxy map. - The majority of main/side missions are almost a straight corridor right to where you have to go. - The N7 missions just feel like an awkward and pointless excuse to shoehorn the multiplayer maps into single player. - The journal is fucking awful for quest info, for example, all those piss poor fetch missions that you just overhear from folk - once you find their shit and go back to the citadel, why not just tell you where they are? - At release the character importer was broken. How the fuck is that missed when it's one of the first damned things you do and not made a top priority to fix? Then outwith the game, whenever you point this shit out you get some little prick that insists that if you complain about it you're entitled or that it's Bioware's artistic choice or some shit. Well here's the thing, we're perfectly entitled to a proper ending. We've paid our money, we've supported Bioware, in many cases, since before Mass Effect 1 and we've played the Mass Effect series, making our difficult choices in them and kept our saves so that we could see the culmination of our work. But then what happens with this grand finale? You're kicked in the teeth with the exact thing they said wouldn't happen, a choice between A, B or C that completely disregards all of your previous decisions - of course you're going to be pissed off if you're deeply invested in the series. Then the thing about their artistic vision, it isn't infallible like that argument always seems to suggest, just because they've made a shitty ending doesn't mean that you should have to accept it for what it is and you should be perfectly entitled to criticise that when you're so invested in a series and have chosen to support the artist in question for so long. Let's add a bit of balance, good points about ME3: - Tali and her "Emergency Induction Port". - Eh, I'll get back to you with more.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. This game was nothing what I expected. I don't even want to go back and get any more achievements in the game.

I've not played it yet, but my boyfriend's best mate says that the end of ME3 was so atrocious that it ruined the whole franchise for him.
I'm going to make a prediction - GTA V. I was so excited to see the trailer last year and it was a massive letdown. I have a sneaky suspicion that it will be absolutely nothing new. I hope I'm wrong though, as I thought GTA IV was epic.

Mass effect 3 ending was not that bad as an ending just it made more questions rather than end a series.

It's disappointing because its a garbage run and gun game aimed at the call of duty crowd, nothing like its previous titles which is very very disappointing.

ME3 really was a let down. Its not that I hated the ending. The ending was what it was. But I just hated how my previous choices didn't really factor much.

Like I said I only just started it but for me I think it seems to come down to how you decide to play it, I haven't been playing it like a run and gun game if I didn't have to. Yeah sure it has it's moments where it forces you to engage but so did the GRAW games, anyone suddenly expecting stealth, stealth, stealth only has themselves to blame for being let down.
