Finishing with highest ranking

I know for this I need to finish a stage with the "A" bar full. Any suggestion as to which stage would be easiest? I'm been trying on Stage VII

Level 1 is easy enough. Just destroy everything but one small cannon on the "locomotive" of Matouschka and, if you do it fast enough, you should have about 40-50 seconds to just milk rank by shooting at nothing. Your ranking bar raises as you shoot.

Level 1 in the story or arcade mode?

Arcade or Score Attack. There are is no ranking in Story mode.
