Can DLC be played without playing the rest of the game?

I have a copy of BioShock 2, and I want to play Minerva's Den (on sale this week). Can I play Minerva's Den without having played ANY of the main game? To put it another way, I want to play Minerva's Den without earning any of the achievements from the main game.

Yes you can play it without playing the main game. It is its own campaign with a different character. It's accessible at the bottom of the main menu under downloadable content.

I don't know though if you can get main game achievements in it as well. I had already beaten the game before I played the dlc so I have no clue

Thanks for the info, Segasonic. I imagine you would unlock main game achievements while playing the DLC. But I hope not. Can anyone confirm?

How come you dont want to unlock any achievements from the main game? Never heard that one before.

yes you can play the dlc without playing the rest of the game but it is not wise. I highly recommend playing all the game. Great game!

While I can't speak for the 360 version, I just completed both dlc for pc and no non-dlc achievements popped (i.e. Bought a Slot, Distance Hacker, etc).

Minerva's Den is a self-contained expansion that makes no reference regarding events in the main campaign so playing that first would not ruin any story.

I did it. I actually completed the DLC without popping any achievements in the main game. Then I went and played the main game. Good times.
