flawless ruby?

I had difficulty finding one as well. I got mine at Yngol Barrow, East of Windhelm

I'm assuming you can't find the ship unless you're doing the Dark Brotherhood mission, right? Just went there and there's no ship.

I've got no idea, but that's probably the case since you know who has no reason to leave Skyrim if you aren't doing the Dark Brotherhood quests.

I honestly feel like a jackass. I had 3 flawless rubies and sold them before knowing about this mission. Spent the last hour trying to find a flawless ruby.

Please give more info how to find this ship. A lot of people are stuck on this quest. I too had at least one flawless ruby but sold it early on.

Finally figured something out. If you go to the Thieve's guild and go to Delvin for some extra missions, there's an option called Fishing. This requires you to get a specific object. Just keep doing them until you get flawless ruby. This allows you to complete the daedara mission and the thieve's guild mission. Woot!

There is a fixed flawless ruby in Shriekwind bastion almost immediatly NE of Falkreath. Enter dungeon, take left at 1st intersection. Blood stained torture room with single throne. On the right of the throne is a unlit fire brazier. It is on the dark part of the floor left of this brazier.

if you want to take the time to complete the No Stone Unturned quest (requires thieves guild, dark brotherhood and purchase house in solitude) you get the Prowler's Profit perk, which makes you find more gems in chests, ive been finding 2-3 flawless in every chest

I can't understand why this is so rare, after discovering i needed one i went on a mining craze, so far have 6 flawless emeralds, 7 flawless amethysts, 12 flawless garnets but no ruby

Speaking of the Thieves Guild, when you break into a "certain" house, right beside your "quest item" there's a bowl of gems. One of them could be a flawless ruby, I've had different gems across playthroughs.

Thank you very much for this tidbit of info! After finding and selling probably 50 of them so far I couldn't find one to save my life once the quest started. After 7 hours of pickpocketing, dungeon delving, and "waiting" at merchants I finally came here to look if others were having the same problem. 10 min later I had my flawless ruby, so thank you very much.
