Gears of War 3 Title Update 2 Release Notes

Hey Gears fans! At 2 a.m. Pacific tonight we’ll begin rolling out Title Update 2 for Gears of War 3. While this is in progress dedicated servers will not be available. Once the update is live you will automatically be prompted to download it if you are connected to Xbox LIVE.

Improvements

  • A spectator mode option has been added to private versus matches for broadcasting by gaming leagues.
    • One player on each team will be able to choose spectator mode during match set up.
    • The matches will be 4v4 with two spectators

    [*]The Leader and Vengeful medals are now easier to acquire.

    [*]The mutators Roadie Comet and Regen Enemies are now easier to acquire.

    [*]Added an option to disable the HUD during multiplayer games for machinima and video creators

    [*]Added a visual indicator of the next ring’s location during the last 10 ring points in KOTH.

Exploit Fixes

  • The Onyx Field Engineer medal can no longer be prestiged.
  • In Capture the Leader, the overhead Beams on DryDock are no longer accessible.
  • While affected by the Smoke Grenade stun, players will no longer be able to take hostages, pick up weapons or revive teammates.

 

General Fixes

  • If there is a host migration during Horde, the match will resume at the same wave.
  • Also during Horde, the Combat Engineer ribbon can now be achieved once per wave instead of once per game.
  • The Ranked Disconnect stat will no longer increase when quitting a standard Horde or Beast game.
  • The cringe from the Mortar will no longer cause players to drop their primary weapon.
  • The Hail Mary ribbon is now correctly awarded for long distance Boomshot headshots.
  • Maps will no longer be immediately repeated when choosing random map selection.
  • If the host pauses during a private versus match the game will continue for other players.
    • The game will still pause in the Campaign, Beast and Horde.

    [*]Potential fix for the rare lost progress issue.

    [*]Potential fix for the rare profile freezing issue.

    [*]Beast leaderboard screen no longer refreshes while sending challenges

How about you fix the damn camera from being SOOOO SLOW in turning.

 

  • The Leader and Vengeful medals are now easier to acquire.

That's VERY welcoming... FINALLY!

 

  • The mutators Roadie Comet and Regen Enemies are now easier to acquire.

Never knew about this, but that's good.

 

  • While affected by the Smoke Grenade stun, players will no longer be able to take hostages, pick up weapons or revive teammates.

FUCKIN STUPID. Also, GET RID of the stun from Smokes and Inks!

General Fixes

All of these sound fine.

Those are definitely the best of the update. I'm glad they changed the requirements for the Vengeful and Leader medals, but hopefully they didn't change the method where you can become the leader every round; if they did, it would be the equivalent of reaching the Onyx Leader medal before the update (assuming the Onyx requirement isn't that high) ensued.

Yeah, but notice. They said EASIER. Their idea of "easier" is probably A LOT more different from ours. The medal itself is just retarded. Should've gone with getting X amount of "Swift Vengeance" ribbons.

they all sound good and hopefully will be when they are downloaded. its a shame the Combat Engineer ribbon can now be achieved once per wave instead of once per game as this should of been done from the start. just need them to make the gun kills for each weapon count in horde as well as multiplayer. also they should make it so you can get the first blood ribbon every wave aswell instead of once per game that would be nice.but all in all its a good start not b****ing or puting the game down in any way as im on it most of the time aint played anythink since.

what does this mean?

 

You can no longer re-onyx it. I've done it 7 times so far.

 

EPIC is really behind on things that need to be patched though based on these notes. Changing this medal seems more along the lines of when people were boosting for combat engineers with turrets in the first week and subsuquently got it up really fast for 14K a piece I don't really see it as a problem anymore though.

Stupid question maybe, but what does this one mean..

 

Currently if you played Gridlock (or any other map) as your 1st map, it might be appeared again as your 3rd, 4th map or so. This is not ideal as there are still other maps that have not been played. This TU will fix it and make sure all maps appeared once before the 2nd rotation starts.

It says immediately the only thing it solved on the random cycle was how on occassion you could play Thrashball or Gridlock (Or any map for that matter but I'm just using the two it seems to happen more often for me) for a full match and then immediately afterwards when the system is choosing the next map you could end up playing the same map again in Public or Private.

i suppose this title update will fix the "war supporter medal" glitch as well. but nothing related has been mentioned in the release notes; weird...

 

I was thinking the same. If they are gonna patch one medal and prevent us from prestigeing, then why not patch them all? Not complaining of course if they only patch the one medal tho.

I've checked on the Gears forum. It seems that it won't be fixed as the TU was developed well before the glitch was found. If this is reatlly the case, I personally guess it may be fixed when the 2nd DLC is out.
