Forcing Update from 7.5 to 7.8

I though I'd throw it up here for people to do so they can upgrade there phones to 7.8. And its totally fine to do so fyi lol. http://www.wpcentral.com/forcing-win...uired-patience

Connect your Windows Phone to a PC and launch the Zune software
Click on Phone > Settings > Update. Allow the software to tell you whether an update is available. If so, skip this guide. If not continue to the next step.

Time to force the update. Click another button (any of the options above or below the word Update). Then click the Update button again, and this time disconnect your computer from the internet after 1-2 seconds. Do this by pulling out the Ethernet cable, disabling Wi-Fi, etc. If it says your phone is already up to date, you didn't disconnect quickly enough and need to try this step again.
Wait 30 seconds or so and Zune should display a notification that an update is available.
Now reconnect to the internet and continue with the update process through the Zune software.

Depending on what OS build you are starting with, you may be prompted for several OS updates
Let the phone update and wait. The final OS build is 8858. If you are getting just 8779, you'll want to repeat 1-4 above

You may also be prompted to install a firmware update at the very end, follow through with this
Celebrate! The whole process, including backup could take up to 60 minutes. Check that you are on build 8858 to see if you are done.

The Zune method doesn't work for phones where the update isn't available on the servers yet. It's up for most European handsets, Unlocked Handsets, and the ATT Lumia 900. The Tool here at

Works generally for all devices, even for handsets still on 7220. Just read the comments posted if you have any issues. For me the tool worked on my HTC Titan ATT on 7220 and updated me up 8773 but kept failing during the "Back Up Process". I just went ahead and did it via the CAB update. Which can be found here.

Updated my HTC Titan ATT on 8773 to 7.10.8858.136 without any issues and took about 7ish minutes using Xboxmods WP7 Cab Sender with the batch update option. If anyone needs help with any of these just ask.

7.8 is nice and looks great on the Titans 4.7 inch screen.

For the people who have this. Does this affect gaming at all?

I haven't tried this yet because I'm waiting to see if it has any "problems" lol...

Last time I updated I f'ed myself over, not doing that again.

I haven't had any issues with gaming or with the phone in general. It literally just seems like an overhaul of the Homepage and some changing in Icons. There is a noticeable "lag" when launching things from the Homepage but that's not specific to 7.8 as it's noticeable on WP 8 handsets. It's more of a slow/smooth open on click, nothing crazy. Some other stuff seem more snappy. Overall I'm content. This will hold me over until the next Nokia handset comes out.

Worked like a charm but I had to force two previous updates before 7.8 came up. Really enjoying the new smaller tiles and colours.

Finally got the update to 7.8 on my (T-Mobile) Nokia Lumia 710. Didn't have to force it.

It said there was an update available (not 7.8) so I plugged it in to my pc and it installed about 4 or 5 updates including 7.8

I couldn't update my HTC HD7 on T-Mobile, and since T-Mo has terrible service here (LV) anyway I ported my number to AT&T and got a Lumia 920. Couldn't be happier. I tried this force update so many times. upwards of a hundred. Then I saw a story on WPCentral that T-Mo officially announced it was no longer updating the HD7. That's when I threw in the towel and upgraded.
