Problem with my Kinect, help needed.

I would like to ask if anyone has had this problem and if there is a solution for fixing my kinect. It all works fine except it wont record voice messages or work if I am in a party. I have calibrated it and it picks up my voice, I can do voice commands aswell. I have cleared space on my hard drive, cleared the system cache, changed to volume levels, muted and un-muted it but still no luckld help me . I would be eternally grateful if some one could help me out.

When you were setting it up for the first time, and it asked you if you wanted to use Kinect for voice chat, did you select yes or no?

That's the option you'll need to find and change, because it sounds like you selected no. Or it is possible that you have an age restriction on your console prohibiting you from that if you are under 18, and your gamertag is linked to a parents email.

Its not linked to my parents email, im 27 lol. have had it working fine since release, have another one on my xbox upstairs and that is working perfectly fine. have tried contacting xbox support and they havnt got a clue. have had no luck searching online, ah well looks like i may have to trade it in, no need in having two kinects i guess.

EDIT: I have just loaded up kinect labs and updated my kinect and it now works, what a shitty way to do kinect updates, i had no help on the phone, twitter or the xbl blogs

That was gonna be my suggestion...lol... Was also gonna mention trying it on the other Xbox... Oh well, glad you got it figured out...

Futher to my edit I had the same problem with the kinect again. This time however I couldnt update as it had the latest one. I sat down for nearly 2 hours trying various methods and solutions I had read online as it seems I was not the only person who had this issue. I did manage to resolve it and quite unbelievably it was something not related to the kinect itself. Basically my daughter was using a very old controller and for some reason he xbox thought it had a mic plugged in, why I dont know. All I had to do was try a new controller and hey presto the kinect is now working so if anyone has a similar issue with chat in games and parties give this method a go.
