Influencing people quest & x-12?

So I'm doing the quest to pick up the upgrades for the sink and it takes me to the x-12 facility but the floor has the blue forcefield on so I can't descend. How do you get around that?

The sonic pistol they give you in the beginning of the dlc can be upgraded to knock out forcefields, eventually. You need to go through a few testing grounds in another faucility (the one with the high school setting) and one of these will be for the forcefield disruptor.

You can get the upgrade to remove those barriers at the x-8 facility, I'd recommend doing this before doing any further exploring, there's a couple places where you need to disable these barriers to fully explore.
