Doing several things in one game, HELP!?

My question is simple, I want to get the Magma armor, Which requires all spaces to be either green or red, But I also want the Dwarven armor which requires you to raise one of each color to level 5.

So can I go to santana village, Raise a blue, yellow, red and green to level 5, Then change all the colors to red and green and have them both count before the game ends? Or does it have to be that way WHEN the game ends?

From what I've experienced, the squares have to be that way when the game ends.
