Another Patch Please...

Okay, so I've read all your posts/threads to do with game-fix patches, and it doesn't seem like anyone else shares my problem.
I took my console to a friend's house to connect to XBL, bought the game, and took my console home again. I attempted to play the game when I got home, only to find it crashes on start-up (blank screen/pressing guide button in doesn't bring up guide). My console crashes so hard you have to press the power button TWICE just to get the console to turn off.
Have tried removing/re-installing game, and getting update patch when connected to XBL. Works when I'm connected to XBL, but not when I get home again. Anyone else have this problem?
