More online questions

Hi,

Did the first N3 and since I kind of liked it thinking about picking this up. I have 2 questions though about the online portion before I do buy. First, do you need another player to start an online/co-op game? It would be easier to have 2 for sure. Second, is it possible to play split screen? If I can find someone to play with or the times dont work out just wondering if that is an option

If anyone knows the answers, it would be greatly appreciated
