My video playthrough of explorer
ive read alot of post complaining they are having problems with this achievement, so i took a bash at it and recorded it as i went, this time i managed to get it and it unlocked, im pretty sure if you follow my videos it should unlock for you aswell.
when i was doing this i tried to fit as much of what i could into it since people though flashes procced it, distance, pickups and bodys. i think personally its the pickups that do it, but thats my op if you follow this you should get it more or less around the same place as mine. i tried to get these done as quickly as i can if i left a little bit of silly running around or silly deaths my bad, but this should get you the achievement i will finish this off tomorrow. this list contains all of my playthrough ive uploaded so far, currently it finishes at black station. *i finished this off today and scored enlighten, so you can get this along with explorer and sherlock in the same run, how awesome is that. The link is wrong, it redirects whoever clicks it to his playlist instead of yours.
I'm very interested in seeing your vids, this is the only achievement missing for me and it's driving me mad.

Yes finally i got it 1000g..it popped up in outpost wen i was working my way back down from playing the tape message thing after i picked up some gold ammo in a room with fire in. Thanks to Quickdraw for the vids they are very helpfull and helped me get this pain of acheeo

wooo im very glad it helped you out all my hrs of rendering and uploading finally did it.
also if you look closely on my vid it should be the same room, the one with the revolver next to it, least im sure that one has a fire in it. did you just collect the pickups or do anything else fancy?

just finished my run also quickdraw. even though some of the vids were way long i followed them perfect except for the prostitute part and i missed 1 other soldier (but i also got a couple soldiers you didnt so it about balanced out). i got to outpost and it didnt pop and i about cried. instead of crying though i manned up and continued and prayed. The achieve popped about 5 mins later towards the beginning of Black Station when i picked up some ammo off a crate. I celebrated and took the game out, shut my laptop down, and put the game away for good. Now im ready for some easy 1k's tomorrow and Mega Man 10.

While I didn't follow this guide I did get the achievement on that very same piece of gold bullets.

confirmed, got the achievement on outpost looting the knives right where you get to the split staircase to the lower level, tested on a blank account.
didn't find any more items than usual but the difference this time was I wasted grenades/medkits/throwing knives to pick those up, so anyone having issues I'd recommend trying to waste your items/ammo so you can pick more stuff up. |

Well, I got explorer last night so I'll share what I can here
I was playing on easy, so difficulty definitely isn't a factor. The two times I tried getting the achievement I chose the new game option instead of selecting a level and starting from it. My first attempt I focused mainly on the flashes that are supposed to be the secret areas or things related to the enlighted achievement. This one was a huge fail, no achievement at all. My second attempt was the one where I got the damn achievement, here's what I did: Talked to everyone again for Metro Dweller. Got every single bullet from the towns for Explorer. Got every single ranger stash (and a cuple more not listed in the guide) in Dead City. The achievement unlocked for me in the level Outpost, inside the last building of the level, just before you go out to that open area with lots of cars. It unlocked when I collected a golden bullet from inside one of the rooms. This achievement definitely is not related to bodies, since there was no body around when I got it. It probably also isn't related to secret areas, since that bullet was just in one of the rooms in the building, nothing "too secret" in my opinion. So, my guess? It's just an achievement related to a certain number of pickups (could be just ammo pickups or everything - weapons, medkits, bullets...). Since it unclocked with me by picking a golden bullet, I'm inclined to say they are related, but I really don't think so, since a lot of people got it from picking a gun in the level Black Station. If I were aiming for this achievement again, I would try to pick as much things as possible in the game. Just talk with everyone, pick the bullets in the towns and search every room you can and pick everything. Don't bother with guides unless you extremely suck at searching for places and want to see someone playing to find things. It's surely related to the amount of things you pick up instead of going to certain places since everyone unlocks it at a different location. Just take your time and go for a second playthrough with no rush and you will most probably get it, unless there's a bug that prevents some people from getting it. Good luck for everyone still trying it. UPDATE: Just watched your last vid Quickdraw, I got the achievement with the bullet you pick up at 4:37! Exactly one pickup before you got it. It must be the number of things you pickup and I found one more until that point, I can't see another explanation for this achievement. Now, I'm off to Dragon Age Origins Awakening

We unlocked it practically at the same spot, I can't believe we missed that many things. Must be a bug that makes it unlock early or something else. I would advice anyone to try this on a second playthrough. Knowing the way through the levels and where they end makes searching a lot easier. You don't get lost, you see that the level design in the game is actually pretty simple (at first try some levels like Dead City and Outpost seemed like a maze to me) and you will be surprised by how much more things you will find with no effort at all.

i finished this off today and got enlighten. it is doable to get:
explorer sherlock enlighten if its hostile, kill it scrooge wheeler dealer. metro dweller in one run, after that you can replay the levels you want to finish it off. im currently rendering the remaining videos they will be done overnight. for scrooge and wheeler dealer follow the vids at polis you should have enuf stuff for it and reload and continue.

I was worried on my second playthrough, after i passed outpost the explorer achievement didnt pop. So after much frustration i decided to play on and FINALLY got the achievement at the beginning of cave where i went and searched the room to the right. I thought for sure i wouldnt get it.

Thanks for the videos. I missed a few spots but I ended up getting the achievement in the library. Glad to be finished it took me 4 playthroughs to finally get explorer.

Explorer unlocked for me unexpectedly on Black Station while i was randomly mopping up achievements.
Think it was because i went for the Merciful achievement during my playthrough so basically sprinted past everyone therefor didn't explore at all on that level but when replaying the level i was going for the pneumatic weapon kills so killed everone and explored everywhere that i hadn't previously done !

Just hit 1000g as well. Definately linked to items/bodies. I got it at outpost right outside the big building where the dead bodie is underground.

That's my 3rd attempt at the Explorer. This time I'm going with Your vids bro. Hopefully this will get me my last achiev in this awsome (IMO) game. If not... I'll sit on my bed and start crying..
