How do I start a new career as bassist?

I just finished story mode playing guitar. I want to start a new one on bass but it doesn't give me the option. I tried to start it with 1 of the 2 remaining save files but it doesn't give me the option to switch instruments. I suppose deleting my save file and starting from scratch would work but Im trying to avoid that. Help. Thanks

You cab pick bass instead of guitar after selecting your song, I believe the game just registers that you are plugged in with a guitar and you can pick between guitar/bass on each song. Dont think you can start a new story mode without deleting the old one.
