is this still active enough to get the multiplayer achievements?
Or will i have to boost it?

fairly active i usually find at least five or so games all the time the only real problem is the friend achievement prob need to boost for that one

I did mine this week - it took about a whole day to get the 10 Banner Towers (as most people came in, built something random and then left).
There are some people out there still running their games with over 20 Towers, and as long as any game you join you build a Tower, it helps everybody. If I know when you're going to be online in the game, I can try to find your game and build a tower (as will other people here)...

hey well i got the game and got these two achievements in an hour. got world traveller randomly when joined someones game and thenjust went in games building towers and messaging people asking for them to return favour and they did more often than not
still need this for my gf gt is missusct. if anyne can help send her a message she'll be on at 7pm onwards gmt.

It's surprisingly still quite active. It might take a while but I try the "Friend" achievement first the usual way - waiting for enough friendly players to appear.
I got "World Traveler" on first try after searching a world for 2 seconds

About this achievement, I have to stay online constantly to get the 10 banner achievements right? If I leave the game I have to start back at 1?

No, you don't have to stay online. Otherwise the achievement would be nearly impossible to get. Just make sure you save your game before leaving (or more often in case of disconnections) so you can go on collecting the towers next time.
btw: For any reason I got that achievement already after collecting 6 or 7 towers...
