I agree rubber banding is a poor way to make the game exciting. I have been beaten a few times when there is no way I should have lost. I have sworn more at this game then any other in memory, I hope the next NFS game wont have the same AI routines, otherwise I'll be giving it a miss.

You have no idea.
I just tried the 70km race for the second time. For some reason both times one AI racer got way ahead, but i managed to catch up around halfway. I maintained my lead for the most part, but got to damage critical with 21km left. Kinda gave up hope that i would win, but kept racing. I somehow managed not to crash for a while, and still gained a 5 sec lead on 2nd with 10km left. As i got closer to the finish line i began to think i might actually do this. I kept going with 2nd now lingering around me. Each time he got really close i would boost away. Right at the end he overtook me. Literally in the last 2 seconds he just causally overtook me. That was 13 minutes well spent :/

Yeah tell me about it. I had a HUGE lead with about a mile and a half to go, and they still came out of no where to pass me. I won it the second time though by doing as you said and saving a full nitrous bar for the last mile or so.

Did you have one AI ahead of you for half the race? I swear it can't just be me. Both times the moment i made one slight error one of the AI sped off out of sight, then randomly slowed down at the halfway point in the race.

I hear you. One guy was always ahead of me for quite some time. Then, shortly before the highway section, he slowed down and I could get closer (meaning I actually saw him).
But once we are on the highway the AI drivers seem to constantly use the oncoming lanes, which causes them to crash a lot. By the end of the highway I was usually away by 13 seconds, but one Bugatti Veyron always managed to catch up with me, running past me shortly before the finish line. Needless to say the Seacrest Tour was a somewhat frustrating experience for me.
