Question about getting X amount of kills

Do the kills add up after you die? or do they restart?

Does the acheevo unlock if you replay a level?

Yes, the kills, or whatever you're going for, ie. pots/fire extinguishers/explosives are cumulative, so if you die the count doesn't reset. You can keep reloading a checkpoint at a certain area over and over until you get whatever achievement you are going for.
