"Easier" Campaign Grind Method

I had posted this over at PS3T, but I thought I'd share it here:

I'm in the middle of going after the campaign trophies and I found an easier way to get the games done without having to pay much attention.

What you need:
1) A team with a good stealer/2 Pt. shooter (blocking is a plus)
2) A rubber band
3) *OPTIONAL* A 3 Pt. Shooter

What you want to do is make your CPU teammate the good rebounder and make yourself a regular player (or 3 Pt. shooter). Rubber band down the button, and then just sit and watch.

What happens is, your player will lob the ball from your end at your opponent's net. Your CPU teammate will then run down the court, grab the rebound and score. Rinse and repeat over and over again. Make note that you will have to press during half-time as well as to end the game. Essentially, let your CPU teammate do all the work.

I've cleared out the entire campaign with this method using the Heat (James and Wade). I'm currently doing the same with NO (using Peja as the 3 Pt. shooter and Paul as the rebounder/2 Pt. specialist).

I hope this helps for some of you. It's not perfect, but it's better than actually playing the games :P

Not bad, Not bad to help out a little I'll slide the rubber band over and drop a few 3's in the 3rd quarter to give up a small lead then restart it

You don't even have to!

I know sometimes the CPU will go up by 6-10, but eventually, your CPU partner will win the game for you. I've "played" about 50 games now and have not lost once.

Really?

Actively playing versus Letting the CPU win for you? Seems like a no brainer to me, but to each is their own.

Obviously, either way, time will be an issue (and it will take longer with the method outlined), but the key is that you don't have to actively play. You can just set your game up and go off and do something else.

Seriously, after 2-3 camp. this method is usefull... I will use it, I already did 2 campaings and I am tired of playing that, now I am just at the end of Remix Tour, then I will use it

I actually did lose like 2 games in my campaign with the Rockets, using Smith and Olajuwon, but still, the best way to clear Campaign Achievements. Thanks for sharing btw

Really? I went with:

- OKC
- Lakers
- New Orleans
- Miami

then I manually used Boston and Detroit. Just make sure you have your CPU partner as someone with a really high 2 Pt. rating.

It helped a lot. I used manually Lakers, and using this method Houston, Portland, Milwaukee, Boston and Miami, actually 10 games left with Miami, finally

I was able to finish the Rockets using this while watching Dexter. Now I am going to watch Boardwalk Empire and while I am doing this method.

Now my question is you don't need a blocker just a 2pt shooter? I used The Dream in the Rockets play due to the Block Shots and 2 pt scorer.

But the key is to just have a good 2 pt shooter/dunker since they will sprint pass the dim AI?

Blocker isn't necessary, but it's a nice bonus since they'll be stronger on defence.

The *most important* feature is that your CPU teammate have a high 2 Pt. rating. Everything else is icing on the cake. The "optimal" player for this boosting is D-Wade because of his speed, steal, and 2 Pt. ratings.

Kobe with the Lakers, Durant from OKC, and Paul from the Hornets work just as well.

I understand what you are doing with the holding down X method but you still have to hit "A" to advance games and half-time right. Like this isn't one of those set it and walk away methods, right?

Correct, you still need to press the button to advance to the second half, and to the next game.

It's not a perfect method (don't think there is or will be such a thing), but it's definitely easier than manually playing through the games.

by far one of the most ridiculous achs I"ve ever seen. Beat 30 or so different teams with 6 different teams. Pointless grinding and even though the game is fun, 180 games is kinda rough

37 Games with 6 Teams totalling 222 games

very useful method. the games got extremely repetive for me half way through my 1st campaign. ill definitly use this to finish off the campaign achs. thx

I probablly will use this as well. I just started my second campaign. I've been grinding out the Remix tour a lot recent (only have 2 more areas to 100%).

Just for kicks, ive been using shitty teams (Sixers, Wizards). I mean sure it would be easy to win as the Celtics and Heat...but still.

I can confirm this works great. Using the Heat, I beat most teams by 10+ points. Currently starting my second Classic Campaign with the Knicks since Remix is finished off now. I'm just using an arcade stick and holding the button down with something semi-heavy, and watching TV or doing housework. Just check on it every 15 minutes and start the next half/game.

The way I beat the campaigns was to unlock Larry Bird and choose the Celtics with KG as my second character. Every time Larry got the ball, I went to his sweet spot (right next to the shot clock) and just went for threes everything. Attempted blocks when on defence and i usually beat everyone by at least 20 points! Hope that helps!

I approve.

I did it with the Warriors, Hornets, Celtics, Heat, and Bulls. Only lost twice. The Nuggets were my first team and I just drained the clock before every score but this gives me freedom to watch television or something else. I recommend unlocking players in the first run through and using it. Like I used Bird with the Celtics and Mullin with the Warriors. Great method.

Thats a great method for your first play through. Then you have to do 5 more after that with different teams. Hence why this rubberband method works.

Also, just an FYI if you set a time for 5 mins and just hit A multiple times then it will just start up your next game/continue using the default characters passed the home screen (just did this with Pacers as Dunleavy as the CPU controlled character) great method. Now I just have 2 more campaigns to do then I am done.

Given the curved design of the controller, some people may find using a piece of tape a bit easier to work with. Rubber bands always end up slipping off or pushing the thumbstick and/or other buttons for me.

All that being said, this method works wonders, especially if you don't feel like playing 9 trillion, tedious, 10-minute games.

Iv placed my coffe table on the x .iv got like 6 games left in the last season ..

Subtract 10 minutes and things will go a great deal faster. Halves last right around the 5-minute mark.

Works perfect! Thanks for this helpful tip. Sometimes the "x"-button player hits 5 or even more times a 3 point shot in a quarter - its fun.
