How's the Boxing in this?
Just wondering how the boxing is in this, as you may have guessed.
![]() Aside from football (soccer), boxing is the only other game I can really see myself putting some serious time into. I played quite a bit of the boxing in Wii Sports, and I've got some high expectations for this one. I've held off the on buying, but if the boxing rocks, this'll be a sure buy for me. Cheers! |

I like the boxing a lot. Never played wii boxing so I can't compare but it is very enjoyable and responsive on the kinect.

Not bad, honestly. I would say it's about as responsive as Wii Sports boxing, and will certainly get just as confused if you flail around. No complaints about detecting a straight vs a hook, or a head vs a body shot. Flaked out pretty often when trying to do uppercuts, but you can do them.
One of the biggest issues is just with game design - you play in first person, but your disconnected from the character. So the character takes a hit and stumbles around, but you're still trying to fight (and missing because your character has moved back from range). Nothing to do about that but settle down and try to fight "smart." Also, it tracks your gloves and displays them as silhouettes in front you. While they're in this ghostly view, they don't seem to be solid in the game either (your opponent can punch through them). I initially thought that the blocking was broken - the trick is you have to hold your hands up until the gloves turn solid. That signals that you're blocking. Not really a flaw, just confusion that isn't explained very well. |

Its fun but I was tko'd by my 6yr old son in the first round, when we watched the replay he looked like he was dancing whereas my boxing technique looked spot on, I guess its the equivalent of being beaten by a button basher on street fighter. Either that or dancers are harder than i gave them credit for. Needless to say Im confident that I could still take him down in a real fight
